Adoribull - Mr. and Mr. Smith AU

Okay, so I’ve been having a rough patch trying to write some Iron Bull/Dorian stuff lately, but this lovely post:

inspired me about a few ago weeks ago to start a little something that snowballed into this 3K piece of a story.

Fair warning, there’s some fighting and blood and killing mentioned, but nothing too serious. A little angst, but I think after that bad ending, the fandom’s gotten quite used to it.

Also, I apoligize in advance if I didn’t get their personalities or speech right in this and that it’s not so much spies as is spy and ex-assassin marrying and living together. I haven’t been writing them for that long.

Heavy breathing was all that could be heard. Dorian ignored the aching pain in his temples and the sting on his arms as he held the gun level to his husband’s head.

A spy. A fucking spy. Five years. Five years he had let this man, this Qunari, into his life. Five years, two of which they had been married. MARRIED. Married and living together in the same house, the same bed. And everything had to go wrong just because he took that one assassination job.

Tempers & Passions (Run Equally High)         Thread by @amatuss & @ataashe         Illustration By @pfaerie   An Early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely, sweet writing partner - Amatuss! This piece was commissioned from the Amazingly Talented @pfaerie to depict a scene from one of Amatuss’s and my first threads together. It was where I first realized that this Dorian was a fantastic fit for my Iron Bull. The link to the full thread is above, but please enjoy the snippet below that inspired the picture:

In Pavus’s mind, The Iron Bull acted as he always did, as a child. Some small boy in the yard with the object of his affections, teasing mercilessly until he drove it away.

        Unfortunately for himself, Dorian did not seem wise enough to do the same.

  So he crossed his arms and waited until The Iron Bull was quite done making all of the poor jokes at Dorian and his homeland’s expense. It was all very typical of him, trying to rile him up like this. He could swear that the Qunari liked it when he was mad or something.

  Dorian raised one eyebrow at the sight in front of him. The correct posture, bowing, and extension of his hand was all very nice until he opened his mouth to speak, not surprising the mage in the least.

                                                               But it was very Iron Bull.

  Dorian let his judging gaze sink into the taller man, pausing for effect, before sighing. He took the hand like a true gentleman, figuring that a little bit of fun could not be so bad.

                  ”I do hope,                              for your sake,                                     that you keep that promise.”

A grin spread across his face, wicked like a secret.

                          ”You know how good I am at setting things on fire.”

     The hand placed in his, callused by years of wielding a staff     (yet somehow still smooth), shot a private thrill up Iron Bull’s spine.     He closed his fingers around Dorian’s own and straightened,     pulling the shorter man forward into his personal space.

    Lips tilted into a sly (self congratulatory) grin, the Qunari hooked     his free hand around the curve of Pavus’s hip and turned them both,     spinning the mage backward into a hidden alcove between the tavern     and the quartermaster’s hut. He stopped himself short of pressing     Dorian up against the stone wall, mindful of fine clothing and finer hair.

    “Oh, I am plenty familiar with your fire, Dorian…“ The Bull rumbled,     bracing an elbow above the younger man’s head and leaning down,     breathing his reply against the mage’s ear.               ”…but I find myself interested in getting t'know it intimately…“

    Iron Bull thumbed Pavus’s cheek, stroking the smooth curve     of his jawline, and urged his chin to turn, drawing lips closer     to his own scarred mouth.
