I know we can all laugh and joke about the police questioning scene in bride of reanimator because of the finger creature but "I don't find science morbid" is also funny to me because yeah...all of that IS also relevant to the normal job he has........

oh I like the idea of dan also being autistic but he overcompensates for not understanding social cues by being overly helpful and friendly, even when it's a detriment. this makes him very likable, but I think he has trouble saying no because he has a lot of faith in people to be helpful or good if they present themselves to be, primarily because that's his experience. he's naturally inclined to be very honest!

more on that note, I think herbert being able to convince dan so easily comes, in part, from the fact that the goal of 'defeating death' seems like an altruistic one. the ends would justify the means, and because of that dan is easily blinded by the big picture implications rather than what it would take to get there—and much less herbert's own motivations. I think that first reanimation genuinely shocks him, to the point that his guilt validates his future work with herbert because he's already unable to forgive himself for it.
