I have a special skill of feeling too much when I shouldn’t, and feeling nothing when I should.

Who am I?
a daughter.
a sister.
a lover
a fighter.
You may know me
You may not
but I am like you…
I cry
I laugh
I read
I write
I try
I fail
I succeed
I love
and I learn
Now you know me…
But do you know you?

I am terrified every day that I don’t measure up to you. -Anonymous
It explains everything. Gladly, my waist-deep thoughts are finally concluded in a simple sentence.

It doesn’t torment me as much as I assumed it would.
It’s probably on account of I’ve been dealing with this appalling pain the whole time without realizing it.

Like typing or writing how i feel on here. Everyone interprets things their own way.
For example:
"God, I’m dying"
It could be sad, It could be angry, It could be joking, It could be true.

Ignorant and Apathetic.
I heard a professor once say, “This generation is completely ignorant and apathetic!” Being a seventeen year old college student I knew what ignorant was, but I struggled with defining apathy. So I did what most people my age would do… I went to dictionary.com and searched it. “A lack of interest or concern.” Then I thought… “What does this mean in simpler words?” I don’t know, I don’t care. So I did some serious thinking on this subject. “Am I ignorant and apathetic?” My answer. Yes, but it was not my choice.
I was born into a suburban, predominantly caucasian, area. Most of the fathers were Republicans who were engineers, lawyers, doctors, nothing where they were really getting their hands dirty. The mothers all were stay at home moms that volunteered at the elementary school where their children attended. I had one friend who was another ethnicity other than white. She was Hindi and Philippino and her family just just like mine only with darker skin.
I took what I heard from everyone else as Gospel, and when I would attempt make my own opinions I would change them as soon as I heard someone refute them. I was a metaphoric sheep and would follow everyone else.
I stopped making opinions because I knew someone else would make them for me. I stopped doing research because, what was the use if I was not going to think critically about the information presented and make an educated opinion.
I didn’t know what was going on in the world and I really didn’t care to.
I did care about the world and its evils, but I would never voice my own opinions because I thought it was too risky to let my own thoughts be heard.
I don’t want to be ignorant and apathetic, and I hope that you, dear reader, feel the same way.
