Hulk is also actually a part of Banner, in the sens that he’s an alter of Bruce. It’s not just this big green monster that came out of nowhere, Hulk’s always BEEN INSIDE Bruce, it’s just the gamma radiation that gave Hulk a physical presentation.

He’s his other, a protector, and he’s there to be someone who can speak for Bruce when Bruce himself can’t. He’s all the anger from watching his mother die. All his pain for wanting to be a hero that he could never achieve. Hulk is all of Banner’s youth and innocence and idealism that he’s been unable to get in contact with as a result of his abuse.
