TBH I think I prefer the manga ending of shurato even though the anime is otherwise better, Gai is actually the one who kills Shiva and then he and Shurato just return to earth and live peaceful lives again, (while gai is carrying him bridal style!!) they are free to just be in love and have as much as sex as they want. I prefer this not only because its happier for my ship but also Gai killing Shiva breaks the cliche of the main character being the one who always saves the world and its nice that Gai gets some good revenge towards Shiva for f*cking with him, since Shiva is the reason Gai was forced to be Shurato's enemy against his own will. it would be nice if a remake happened and they animated this ending but considering how unpopular Shurato is I know it won't ever happen lol.

and lets not forget the way Shurato literally acts heartbroken for the first part of the anime that Gai his boyfriend suddenly turned evil and wants to kill him, most people who are just "friends" would right away fight back but instead Shurato refused to fight him and wanted to save him from what caused his drastic change (he didn't figure out exactly yet that it was black sohma but he could tell Gai was brainwashed or some shit) he also kept daydreaming about him and how he missed him being a soft boy all this behavior is like a heartbroken ex he only began to fight back when he felt he absolutely had to. And Gai returns these feelings since after he is free from the black sohma he pretty much is always protective of Shurato and willing to risk himself for him as shown both in the end of the tv anime and the ovas, there are drama cds and songs that go even further into this and even the end of the manga literally has Gai carrying Shurato bridal style as they return to earth.

lol someone who does not even like Shurato and only watched the anime to rip on it replied to my comment on youtube about shurato and Gai being a good couple "nah you are just a fujoshi" like hmm okay because this scene totally looks heterosexual ? sitting together naked on the beach is just what friends do ? lol.
