She keeps her eyes firmly cast downward, feeling Coley tense against
her side as they talk about Trenton. The last thing she wants to do is
analyze her (borderline abusive) relationship with her ex only hours
after they broke up, but she knows it’s IMPORTANT to do so she can
move past this. So her relationship with Coley can move past this.
“You’re right, I know. I guess I just… I didn’t want to believe
he would really try to hurt me, you know? But I think -”
She pauses there, blinking back tears she hadn’t
even realized were gathering before continuing.
“- –I think if all of this hadn’t happened, you might
not have been the one he hit when he snapped.”
She doesn’t like talking about what happened with Trenton. She
had never even liked him in general. The brusies on her face
would heal but the pain that he caused Sonya might never.
“He’s a horrible guy and you don’t need him anymore.
You didn’t make him that way ---- not your fault, Sonya.”
Coley frowned, finding it harder and harder to stay
calm. Just the thought of Trenton hitting Sonya like
he had to her was painful.
“ ---- But ... that’s not what happened. And I’m
okay with that. I don’t want to see you getting hurt.”

And she does enjoy it, letting her eyes finally flutter shut and slowly
relaxing under Coley’s careful ministrations. At first she only nods in
response to Coley’s question, but quickly realizes that the other
girl might not exactly be paying attention to her head right now.
“Yeah, definitely. This is… it’s really nice, Cole.”
Coley loves doing this so much she would do it as a job. There was
no doubt that she was enjoying this. Who wouldn’t? She start’s feeling
one of her hands cramp up, choosing to ignore it.
“You deserve it. Just close your eyes and relax.”

Her smile transforms into a grin at the sound of Coley’s laughter
and she can’t help but join in as they reach the front of the line.
The combination of being with Coley and the anticipation of the
ride is exciting– - she’s decided that she loves this date already.
“I remember. You cried at the end of every movie
we watched– - it was cute. Thanks for thinking
of me this time, though; I really love this place.”
“I am shocked and offended.”
She laughs again, pretending to look offended. Failing, she
just laughed some more. This was turning out to be a fun date.
Just the two of them and some rollarcosters.
“I saw you shed a tear --- like three out of the five
times. It’s no big --- you did something for me &
now I do something for you. Come on, it’s our turn!”
