Summary: Elphaba and Glinda face monumental challenges and new adventures, together.

Sunbeams danced in the fading mist of a warm summer’s morning. The tiny church that served the residents of Shiz did not have air conditioning, and so occasionally, on warmer summer days, the service would be held outside. Most of the congregation sat on steel folding chairs arranged neatly in rows. A few families sat off to the side, atop blankets spread on the grass. The lectern from inside the church had been carted outside, one of the few constants of the relocated service. Elphaba shifted in her seat. She never thought she’d miss the dingy upholstery of the pews, but these folding chairs proved to be even more uncomfortable somehow. She wasn’t able to decide what was more agonizing: the cold, unyielding surface of the chair, or her father’s droning sermon.
