dredwood is so awesome, one of my favorites in the whole dex! a real standout team member too with how beefy his physical hits are

What do you use to make your sprites? I wanna get into sprite art again… at the very least, I wanna do edits in something more dedicated than firealpaca

you can sprite in anything, really! as long as it has an aliased brush. i used to do my sprites in MS paint before they started majorly whiffing on updates and ruined the internal palette management (making color replace basically never work. it's such a shame)

these days i've found krita is not only really easy to use for illustrations but is also super helpful for sprites. this is not an advertisement i've just been using krita for literally all of my art needs and it's never made me happier. super nice thing

drownsuguy is based on the european folklore archetype of "guy has the worst name you have ever heard and sits in a pond and don't go too close because he'll GET YOU" (see jenny greenteeth, nelly longarms, rawhead-and-bloody-bones, peg powler, etc) he wasn't even supposed to be a qdex mon! i laughed a lot at his stupid name but thought it'd be too silly for other people, but then i showed my community some of my extended non-romhack mons and they seized him like some sort of guy in a pond. people are usually unnerved to find out that's a standard distillery barrel and drownsuguy is enormous.

swazzage is a nod to the crocodile from punch and judy, the age-old british traditional seaside puppet show loved by kids age 3 and up. for those of you from outside of the uk, the gist is that mr punch kills his wife, his baby, and the policeman who comes to arrest him. then he is punished by the crocodile, who represents the devil. hope this clears things up! if you x ray swazzage, it has the bones of a giant hand.
