Was at a doctor's office today, wearing my Utopian hoodie, and this old guy asked what the shoulder patch was.

So I gave him a brief overview of the books, and it turned out that he and his wife were long-term scifi fans; him having read lots of Asimov and Bradbury and Heinlein, and her watching lots of Netflix.

I had to go to the desk to talk to the clerk, so I borrowed a sticky note and pen from her and came back with a written out recommendation, just to see that they had a pen and paper out to ask for the name of the book.

Persona 1 Phone Game, ‘Persona: Anomalous Tower Chronicle’ Receives English Fan Translation

Several Persona fans have united to release an English fan translation for the highly obscure Persona mobile game Persona: Anomalous Tower Chronicle. This 2006 title is a spinoff of sorts of the original Persona, Megami Ibunroku Persona, and it’s a gameplay-heavy experience with not much story to speak of.

Players form a party of four to navigate a tower and acquire orbs in order to reach the structure’s roof. The battle system should be familiar to those who have already played the first Persona. Interestingly, this game was made officially accessible in Japan in September 2023 via G-MODE for Steam and Nintendo Switch. So, it’s neat to see that accessibility made it even more convenient for prospective Western players, thanks to the efforts of dedicated fans.

dichotomous plants are so weird man. like they’re not even weird it’s the becoming the dichotomous that’s weird. i went to a talk once about a population of strawberries that were accidentally slowly becoming dichotomous and they didn’t even have sex chromosomes, like they had like a bunch of genes across a bunch of chromosomes that did a little bit of sex but not a lot and it added up to one whole sex kind of but not enough that they had all collectively decided to be one sex or the other, so there was still like, a sizable chunk of the population that was producing flowers of both sexes. like they were microdosing it. taking the sex genes for a spin in the strawberry patch
