In chapter 101, Hanako and Nene revisit an old location: The sealed auditorium!
Tumblr media
The text explicitly mentions that this was the place where Hanako rescued Nene from the mermaid’s disciples.
Tumblr media
A couple of very important things happened in that arc:
1.) Hanako revealed that he ended his own brother’s life.
Tumblr media
In the most recent chapter, we see Tsukasa confront Hanako as to whether or not he truly wanted him to go away. We now know that Hanako chose both. He killed Tsukasa, yes, but Tsukasa is also chained to Amane and the Near Shore because he’s his Yorishiro. I also believe 101 is the first chapter we see Tsukasa as a living teenager.
Tumblr media
2.) Nene tried to become a supernatural.
Tumblr media
Nene is Hanako’s assistant because of their shared connection to the Great Mermaid. It seems like the manga is alluding to a similar circumstance with Amane and the great clock. It could very well be related to the Clock Keepers, though it’s too soon to tell.
Tumblr media
3.) Hanako vowed to tell Nene all his secrets on the steps of the auditorium.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what does it mean?
The auditorium was set up to be a very important location since the beginning of the manga, where an incredibly important bonding moment between Hanako and Nene happened.
Whatever it has to do with the plot, it’s likely setting up a large portion of Hanako and Tsukasa’s backstory and may even reveal more about the Clock Keepers.

I love how attached to Nene and Kou Hanako is, no one else can make him so worried.
Tumblr media
and so genuinely happy,
Tumblr media
happiness from Hanako used to be so rare even Tsuchigamori, the School Mystery of knowladge, is intrigued by.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When we get insight of his mind, he always pictures Kou and Nene: They are always his focus.
Tumblr media
He cares about them so much it makes me go insane

is it a little far fetched to say that Tsukasa acts like this with Mitsuba because of his brother?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he talks about how helpless he was without him and that if he didn’t want to be weak he had to get stronger, he helps him get stronger because he doesn’t want him to be weak, like his brother
Tumblr media
who also knew that he was too sick to even get his favorite ball, and that it was on himself to make sure he got it back
Tumblr media
and with the entire “Tsukasa planned everything” which I also believe, but what did making Mitsuba in general help with? what did making him stronger help with in his plan for Sakura’s wish? was it really to have a mystery on his side?
I’m not sure, but I do think Tsukasa didn’t like Mitsuba being so weak.

Happy New Year everyone!
Tumblr media
I noticed something about Nene in this beautiful new art.
Tumblr media
Nene’s pearl hairpins are likely a reference to Sailor Moon!
Tumblr media
Aside from aesthetic, it makes a lot of sense to reference Sailor Moon here. Sailor Moon’s human name, Usagi, literally means “rabbit.” 2023 is the year of the rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. Her pigtails are meant to look like bunny ears, just like Nene wears in the picture.
Tumblr media
“Sailor Moon” is a bunny because the series references the myth of the rabbit pounding mochi on the moon. TBHK has also referenced this custom in the past. Here’s a better post further explaining how the bunny in the moon relates to the series.
As always, AidaIro puts thought out symbolism in the smallest of places.

First Kiss
Hey! Remember this panel?
Tumblr media
Remember how it made no sense because Hanako already kissed Nene?
Tumblr media
Yeeeah... so, actually, there's an explanation for that!
I checked the scene in the original Japanese version, and what it says is...
Tumblr media
Aha!
...um, so it's a little hard to explain, but the English translation didn't give enough detail! See, it says Nene kisses Hanako-kun.
Like, Nene specifically, is bestowing a smooch onto Hanako-kun. Instead of the other way around, which has already happened!
