Hashirama has learned a lot since he brought Madara back alive from the valley of the end. Particularly, he learned that he knows absolutely nothing about his supposed best friend. The guilt is ravaging and it tears at his heart daily. Yet, it also pushes him to do better - be better.  

The first thing he discovers is that Madara is not exactly human. In fact, he surmises that none of the Uchiha actually are - not fully anyway. 

Once his chakra is completely sealed, the henge technique that Madara had been using continuously for decades falls away. Revealing a large fluffy tail and big feline ears atop his head. 

Hashirama initially thought he’d done something wrong, but upon coming closer to inspect his friend, he found out that Madara knew exactly how to use his claws and fangs to his advantage. Hashirama then went back to his corner to heal his wounds and sulk. 

That is how things go for the first few weeks of Madara’s containment. Snarls, snaps of teeth, and defiant defensive stay-away-from-me posturing are all he manages to get out of Madara.

That is, until the anniversary of Izuna’s death. 

Hashirama ensures to vacate his schedule so he can spend his entire day with Madara - even if he is not welcome he still intends to be there just in case.

The Senju’s heart quivers when he finds the Uchiha tucked into a corner of the cell, tail curled around himself protectively. When Hashirama approaches, he doesn’t move aside from a flicker of one ear. 

“Madara,” Hashirama begins softly, “I am so sorry...I-.” He cuts himself off and braces himself when Madara whips around to look at him. But there is no anger in his eyes, not today. Instead, Madara looks Hashirama up and down and then stubbornly looks away. 

Hashirama sighs and slowly lowers himself down to sit on the floor. He is thankful that Madara has not outright attacked him, yet, but the indifference is equally unhelpful. 

“I don’t know if you will like this or not...and if you don’t I will stop but,” Hashirama takes a flower out of his pocket and lays it gently on the ground between them. “It is Senju tradition to honour someone’s death by planting and caring for flowers that symbolize them in some way.”

When Hashirama notices that Madara is staring down at the white flower between them, he continues, “I planted a garden for Izuna the day he died. This is a flower from that same garden. It’s a white rose. To the Senju, the white rose represents reverence and respect. I have never forgotten Izuna’s unwilling sacrifice and how it has affected you.”

Hashirama has a difficult time looking up at Madara after his explanation, but he forces himself to anyway. The Uchiha is looking at him with an unreadable expression. Then he is moving. 

Hashirama braces himself but doesn’t move away or closer. Madara picks the flower up and kneels where it had been placed on the floor. He holds it delicately between his fingers, inspecting it as if it would reveal Hashirama’s true honesty. He sets it down just as delicately as Hashirama had and then turns to the Senju.

No words are exchanged and their eye contact remains as Madara further closes the distance between them until they are knee to knee. 

Madara takes Hashirama’s face in his hands and then he tilts it, exposing his neck. The Uchiha leans forward and Hashi’s breath hitches slightly as his lips make contact with tan skin. Madara runs his lips down Hashirama’s jawline, down his neck, and to the junction with his shoulder. 

It is there that he bears his fangs and bites. 

Reflexively, Hashirama’s hands snap to Madara’s shoulders, but there is no effort made to push him away - just to hold on. 

Madara’s tongue replaces his teeth when he lets go a second or two later. And then, Hashi’s face is urged towards Madara’s neck. 

“Madar-?” Hashirama’s question is cut off when Madara pointedly sticks his thumb between his teeth and presses his mouth against his own shoulder. The direction is clear. Bite me. 

Hashirama did this without further question, but he doesn’t bite very hard, just enough to leave a slight red mark. Madara tsks at this; not happy but willing to let it go for now. 

When Hashirama is allowed to pull away, something has changed. The very air between them is different. 

And Madara smiles.

Tall, aristocratic face, a lot of masculinity and long hair. He looks like an indian (i love indians, yeah) and he looks good even with the Hokage outfits (he has an headband :O).
