More people should abandon Internet discourse and get into observing/engaging with local politics. I say this not because local politics often offers more meaningful opportunities for effective praxis (although it does), but because local politics often offers just as much highly toxic and entertaining petty drama.
I highly recommend city council meetings. You might make yourself an informed voter and active community member or something. You also might get to watch an ongoing soap opera of old men ready to murder one another over trash collection ordinances, and unlike the Internet, none of them can effectually tell one another to kill themselves no matter how hard and how clearly they are thinking it.

Summary:
Once the dust had settled and humanity had come to the conclusion that, by and large, it had survived, there had been months of celebrations, galas and press tours.
However, for Newt Geiszler and Hermann Gottlieb there was really only one event which mattered: The San Francisco K-Day conference (Closed encounters of the Kaiju kind, the threat conquered? Past, present and future of Kaiju Technology and Research).
Wherein Newt and Hermann, in spite their best efforts, fail to disabuse the K-science community of the notion that they are not, in fact, married.
Every single fic update there is an author trying frantically to find the right balance between a nonchalant aside of "leave a comment if you enjoyed =)" and clinging desperately to the coat tails of a random stranger, dragging along behind them on the street wailing "Please, please! I have to know what you thought! I'm desperate to talk to people about this! Ask me about the alliterative repetition! Ask me about the symbolism!"
Sorry to speak this into existence but the fanfic that’s going to be written for this movie might just be the discourse catalyst strong enough to destroy this site
Imagine all of these things being a possibility every single time you log in to your 'escape'!
To my Black readers: You are VALID! You are not sensitive, not 'overreacting', and you had every right to be hurt by the way you've been treated. These are not isolated events! And if people won't stop being racist, they should continue to feel uncomfortable for being so!
To my nonBlack readers: You are not an ally for NOT doing these things, but for STANDING AND SPEAKING UP when they do.
(So APPARENTLY Tumblr won't let you zoom in on Desktop, but I put the lists in the Image Description! Sorry 😬 i did not know Tumblr doesn't allow zoom in on desktop. It's easier to zoom in on mobile.)
