I had my Mock Interview last Monday and it went really well, boosting my confidence for the real thing. The comments I got from it were very positive and the only advise they gave me was to talk about my work experience more in the interview to show of my experience.

UCAS APPLICATION
I have recently submitted my UCAS application of to my tutor Zainab to check over and add my reference to it, whilst doing this I am trying to put my portfolio together for the interview part of the process. I feel like I am on top of this unit and my portfolios deadline and I will be fine to go in to the interview and online portfolio stages of the application.

I have recently found a New Course at Birmingham City University called BA Hons Design for Performance and I heard about this course at the Create your future event. This course is very different to the others I like the course just as much, it includes all the aspects of the theatre but can you can still specialise in the chosen subject (i.e. Costume). So you could be doing set one day, costume the next, wigs and Props too.

HNC Course at Batley College of Art Talk
We had a talk about the HNC Course at college and I found it very interesting because it is only one year long. The Idea of this course is if you haven't decided on your future goal it lets you learn a bit more about what you want to do and means you don’t have to take on a full 3 or 4 year University Course. It is a Vocational Course with no Exams just Coursework and essays, and is a level 4 but you can go on to do a HND which is Level 5 afterwards and the course usually has smaller classes than Universities normally about 20 students.

I have been tho the Create your Future Event In Manchester an I found it really helpful and interesting to look at all the different Universities that offer Courses in the creative industries ranging all across the country. I am wanting to do a Costume Course at University and I found many more places that do the course because of this event. Even After this Event I m still looking at Nottingham Trent University as my first choice, however I have found a new course at Birmingham City called BA Hons in Design For Performance which incorporates all the different elements within the Theatre.

I have recently found this course at the University of Salford and It does appeal to me but reading the units we do are more design based than making and i would prefer it to be the other way around, however I may go to an open day.

I Searched Costume in to Ucas and this is how I found many of the courses I have been to open days, Ucas has helped me quite a lot because there aren’t very many costume design courses.

This is an article on Theresa May saying she will remove student fees. This interested me as this will be a massive impact on my future. if she removes student fees i think as well as benefitting me it will help others who maybe don’t go to uni because of finance, be able to go.

Marc; I have looked at Nottingham Trent and Birmingham. Nottingham Trent is a clear favourite from the facilities to the accommodation. What about you/
Emily; i am looking at Nottingham Trent and Sheffield, i also loved Nottingham and all it has to offer. have you got any more open days booked?
Marc; no, i have looked at all the universities that interest me and i am now going to get on with my ucas application.

Savile Row and Many places across the country employ apprentices in tailoring to build their business, this is my other option I feel because I haven't made my mind up to what area I would like to go in to yet, going in to an apprenticeship normally grants you a job with the firm afterwards, with a little wage helps too.

Huddersfield University was an alternative University in that I wouldn’t have to move away from home ( ideally i would like to leave) but it is a great university with amazing reputation and facilities, the costume course is very similar to the course at Nottingham and was equally as good, the teaching staff were really helpful and informative, who told me about the course well. Despite all this I would like to move away from Huddersfield but will still apply because of its great credentials.

Birmingham City University is another institute I visited not long ago and it was good but I feel it lacked in a few areas, with the modern building had a great vibe it just felt a bit boring empty inside, however the facilities were excellent once you had go in to the workshops and studios themselves. However with the costume coarse being merged with 2 other courses in the first year including fashion design and garment construction didn't really appeal to me. Despite this I feel that I would still fit in nicely at this university.
