only textpost im going to say about this matter, but when we hit the amber temple i NEED it to break roma

a couple sessions ago roma had a communion with taar haak to save a fellow party member and at a pivotal point in the conversation osybus intruded (being in contract with roma and all) and effectively ended the conversation through brute force and forced taar haak out... which wouldn't have been a huge issue if not for the fact that roma's inability to shake osybus in any meaningful way (in fact, the ability to be free at all being a SUBOPTIMAL decision) weren't a major concern for roma

(osybus going "we will be together forever" after shaking off taar haak was also An Unsettling Reminder of the stakes)

and then! RIGHT AFTER THE COMMUNION! ROMA HAD TO GO TO SLEEP, WHICH MEANT ROMA WAS TRAPPED IN OSYBUS' MEAT DIMENSION FOR THE NEXT EIGHT HOURS WITH NO ESCAPE WITH JUST HIM AND OSYBUS. RIGHT AFTER THAT UNSETTLING EXCHANGE. imagine going through a weird manipulative possessive interaction and then having to sit silently in a room with that person for the next eight hours. and this happens to roma EVERY NIGHT!!!

after every terrible interaction with osybus roma has TO SIT IN A POCKET DIMENSION WITH OSYBUS ALONE FOR EIGHT HOURS BECAUSE ROMA DOESN'T DREAM ANYMORE! HE HAS TO SIT IN OSYBUS' POCKET DIMENSION

this isn't even covering how saving this fellow party member symbolically meant being able to save himself, since the Thing that was hurting this fellow party member mirrored what was happening with roma and osybus

and the kicker was, i had to resolve the fact that we have two weeks in between sessions, and because of that we don't necessarily have time during session to RP out Being Depressed. Oftentimes unless the action was mechanics affecting or party wide, the party can't afford to change too largely in between sessions and take up too much time... which means, the way i resolved it was that roma is STOICALLY BEARING EVERYTHING

he is acting SO NORMAL and SO UNCHANGED ABOUT THIS even though it's an INSANE THING TO GO THROUGH!!!!

so YES!!!!!!!!!! I NEED THE AMBER TEMPLE TO BREAK ROMA!!!!!!!!!!

One skill I'm very proud of is that I'm very good at asking questions at volume, which is great, because I LOVE pestering people about their pc/oc blorbos. It's SOO interesting to me to see all the different ways both players and characters approach an ask.

roma has the charm of a shibe that DOESN'T want to go on a walk anymore, and you gotta pull his collar and his face scrunches up and you gotta drag him and his stupid little scrunched face along. roma has the charm of a husky that's like. sitting in the car and REFUSES to get out no matter how many times you tell him its time to get out and he's just staring at you in that knowing husky way because you BOTH KNOW!!! HE'S NOT MOVING AND YOU CAN'T CONVINCE HIM TO LEAVE THIS CAR WITHOUT MAJOR INCENTIVE despite YOU KNOWING YOU CAN'T LEAVE THIS HUSKY IN THE HOT CAR.

Roma has the charm of a young person who hasn't experienced the world latching onto some niche detail and being SO CONVINCED of this little thing's GREAT IMPORTANCE that when you mention that this thing is alright HE'S SO BEWILDERED? like what do you MEAN you don't think guardians of the galaxy is PEAK CINEMA... and is just SOO passionate about this random mainstream thing because that's all he's experienced ... and has convinced himself that YOURE the strange one about all this

Roma has the charm of a cat that brings dead birds and mice and lizards into your house that theyve hunted and then MEOW SO LOUDLY AFTER THEYVE HUNTED THEM!!!! and these little corpses are just SO NASTY but your cat is so damn PROUD

roma is very stubborn and rude and annoying but he means everything he says and everything he does 100% and that's a part of his charm!!!! all the bad parts and all the good parts he will own up to completely and while he ends up grating at a lot of people i think there's something to his naked earnestness and honesty that's always on display. he's a stinky, willful dog and everything that comes with it!!!!
