When you're posting a work on AO3, one of the options you have is to add relationship tags to your work. Sometimes you'll see tags that look almost exactly the same and you might wonder what the difference is.

A&B indicates that person A and person B have a non-romantic and non-sexual relationship in this fic - they are friends, colleagues, family members etc. who have a platonic relationship.

If you want to add more specific information about what kind of relationship the characters have in your story, you can use the additional tags or the summary to let readers know more about what they're in for.

i cannot express how much i would love to take a 15-hour train ride from LA to new york. only 15 hours? i'll go see my sister over a long weekend. it would be even less from LA back home to charlotte. it's easier to get to union station than to LAX *and* i save time by not needing to go through tsa's bullshit. i'll be able to stay in touch with friends and family nearly the whole time. i'll get to see the country from a perspective i never have before. you provide me with decent legroom and some wifi and i'll spend days on the train. in all honesty i think it would be quite the rejuvenating experience.

Me. I will sit on high-speed rail for fifteen hours. I’ll sit on it for days. I’ll write and read and nap and eat and then do it all over again. I’ll stare out the windows and see America from ground level and not have to drive. I’ll see the Rockies and the deserts and cornfields and the Mississippi River and your house and yours and yours too. I’ll make up stories in my head about the small towns I see as we go along. I’ll see the states I’ve yet to see because driving or flying there is a fucking slog and expensive to boot. I’ll enjoy the ride as much as the destination. And then I’ll do it all over again to come the fuck home.
