Pink is still the trendiest color at present for interiors.
If you are not yet completely sure about your home colours, maybe you did not consider pink walls as an option. This new Scandinavian home tour will give you some good inspiration. Indeed, this apartment in Gothenburg was decorated according to a pink palette and he result looks really nice.
Far from being just a feminine color, pink can be also a masculine hue and it is a perfect option to paint the interior walls. In fact, pink on walls can work both as a neutral color and as an accent. Everything depends on the shade of pink you chose and the match with other materials and furnishings.
    Choosing the right Pink
Decorating home with pink it’s all about choosing the right pink hue for your interior space.
In this Scandinavian apartment, for example, they chose a warm hue of pink with some terracotta shades. This color warms up the living room and prefectly matches with the other colors, that are all neutrals: light whitened wood, shades of greige and white. Some soft fabrics and cushions in natural leather help the whole feeling of cozyness. This kind of pink can also be matched with a very soft pink, for a more interesting alternative to beige. This color can be reached with a less saturated hue of pink, tinted with white. In this way you will add depth to the interior, by working with different layers of pink.
Pink with luxe materials, such as marble, brass and velvet, is another key match when talking about decorating with pink. Here you can see they added also some accessories in these materials, a sofa in velvet brown, and a big kitchen island in carrara marble.
To give pink a masculine mood, the key is avoiding all the feminine clichés in the decor (floral patterns, stripes, ruffles, etc). Instead, stick to clean lines, maybe with some black accents, as they perfectly did in this home in Gothenburg.
If you want to dare with a brighter and bolder shade of pink, try with the foyer, usually a good place to make a statement decor, or maybe for less traditional solutions such as the studio room or the bedroom (I’m decorating my studio ceiling with a mid pink!)

Alcuni tessuti morbidi e cuscini in pelle naturale contribuiscono a scaldare l’ambiente.

#MYHOMERESTYLING | Half Painted Walls which Rock
Among the hundred projects that I am following during this period (or that are starting, see one month left to the Milan Design Week 2018 ) we are also moving forward with the restyling of my small home office. Actually, we  painted everything so now it’s all about adding furniture and accessories. I opted for half painted walls with two shades of beige, the darker on bottom. This type of…

Sevilla, Spain, was named by Lonely Planet the best city to travel to in 2018.
The result is part of Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel research which ranked the 10 cities that everyone will want to visit in 2018.
I visited Seville last summer during our two weeks tour of Spain. Our tour included Valencia, Madrid and several cities across Andalucia. Seville actually was my favourite city, together with the small pueblo blanco Vejer de la Frontera.
Let’s do today a throwback to virtually visit Seville. Spring is coming and if you are planning the next summer holidays this post may help you. If you are thinking about spending holidays, indeed, you can’t avoid a stop in superbeautiful Andalusian capital.

Visit Sevilla to see Plaza de España by day and by night
Plaza de España is one of the most beautiful squares I’ve ever seen, no exaggeration. Although it has a very recent history, since it was built during the 1929 Expo, I think it is one of those squares to see once in a lifetime. With its colors and azulejos you won’t forget it! You must visit the Plaza at day and another time during evening.

Visit Sevilla to discover its Moorish architectures
Seville is a city on a human scale. Everything is within a walking distance and in the central area you will find amazing historical building one close to the other. Starting from the Cathedral, which is the largest Gothic cathedral and third largest church in the world; then the Giralda, formerly the mosque’s minaret. Finally, just round the corner you can visit the impressing Moorish Alcazar.
Infine, a pochi passi è possibile visitare l’impressionante Alcazar moresco.
Visit Sevilla to relax in the Arabic Baths
You can’t travel to Andalusia and not stop in one traditional arab bath. I tried the Aire the Sevilla: a true oasis in the middle of the historic center, located in an ancient moorish building, where you can try the traditional hammam (steam room), but also dip into different hot and cold pools and enjoy, of course, a wide range of relaxing massages *_*
Visit Sevilla to walk under the curtains and do a siesta in the afternoon
In Sevilla the sun can be so hot that in summertime the city dresses up with huge curtains from one building to the other. Actually like big umbrellas to protect the city (and you) from the ferocious heat. I must say that last year, during our two week drive tour in Spain, I visited Sevilla in the hottest days of summer and the climate was bearable for me, but I was coming from one of the hottest summers ever in Italy…So it really depends, however the solution is a long siesta in the hottest hours: from 2pm to 5pm the city is desert!
Visit Sevilla to get lost in the Barrio de Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz is the old Jewish quarter of Seville. With its  little squares and colourful houses, plus small tapas bars, it’s a really nice place for a walk in the day and in the evening. Its is also the most iconic barrio of the Andalusian capital and I’m sure you will love it.
Visit Sevilla to hear flamenco in the Barrio Triana and for a Boteillon on the banks of the Guadalquivir
The barrio Triana originally was the gipsy area of the city and the history tells us that flamenco was born here. The quarter is located just opposite the river Guadalquivir, on the other side of the river from the historic city centre. Its distinctive yellow and white-fronted houses have seen many flamenco artists as well as bullfighters: so if you want to breath the real Andalusian mood, make sure to spend andafternoon and evening here…Remember also to have a walk in the Guadalquivir banks: during summertime evenings they are crowded with locals enjoying the botellón, in spontaneous open-aired parties.
Visit Sevilla to enjoy a tapas tour
In Spain you will find tapas bars everywhere, this is not a commonplace but is a fact. Sevilla is really packed with traditional tapas bars and the best neighbourhoods for these are for sure the Triana and the Santa Cruz barrios. There are cozy and typical tapas bar really everywhere, but as a start you can have a look at this list of best local tapas bars in Sevilla.
Visit Sevilla to walk on the Metropol Parasol
Metropol Parasol, also called Las Setas (the mushrooms) by Sevillan, is a distinctive contemporary architecture designed by Jürgen Mayer and ended in the 2011. It is the largest wooden monument in the world and is located in Plaza de la Encarnación, over Roman remains discovered during its construction. From here you can enjoy an amazing view over the city roofs.
Visit Sevilla to sleep in an original colonial house
If you love interiors and architecture, you will love the traditional buildings here in Sevilla. Their walls decorated in azulejos and their small hidden gardens will make your eyes sparkling (and your instagram too). So, if you are looking for a place where to stay in Sevilla, my recommendation is to look for a traditional manor house converted into hotel or b&B.
We slept at the Hotel Casa del Colon, a boutique hotel in Sevilla historical center .
Located in a historic manor house dating back to the 18th Century and reconstructed in 1886, it is right in the heart of the city just a few steps away from the main tourist sites like the Cathedral, the Alcázar Palace or the Santa Cruz old quarter. From the terrace you can enjoy an amazing view of the Cathedral and the Giralda tower and also enjoy a very special breakfast, while the rooms are really spacious and furnished with a beautiful mix of old and new.

If you are looking for a trendy yet timeless solution for your bathroom, you may start considering a black and white decor. Indeed, by choosing a black and white decor in a bathroom you will never be wrong. Or better, it’s more difficult to be wrong. I choose a monochrome palette for my small bathroom makeover too and now, some months later, I’m really happy with my choice.
Let’s see together today some tips for a perfect black and bathroom décor . If you are looking for some ideas and inspiration for your bathroom, this can be a great solution to be considered.
The images and products you will see this post, unless are all by Italian bathroom design brand Devon&Devon: Devon&Devon was founded in 1989 in Florence by architects Gianni and Paola Tanini, part of ITALCER Group led by CEO Graziano Verdi. The brand is inspired by an unique style which matches Italian design and American inspirations from the early 90s. Know more about the brand by visiting the website here

Why choosing a black and white bathroom decor ?
[symple_divider style=”dashed” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″]
1 | A black and white palette works with different styles
Indeed, no matter if you are more a minimalist and modern style lover, or if you prefer traditional solutions: black and white is a timeless match that works well in any bathroom. From Scandinavian style decor with a minimalistic approach, to classic interiors, to vintage style solutions, monochrome fit really different decorating style. You can opt for example for a Victorian modern bathroom, or a Twenties mood inspired by Great Gatsby design style as in the pics below :
 –
Roaring 20s  Black&White Bathroom Decor
Rounded shapes, clean lines, metallic accents and shiny finishes are some of the key features of this style. Black and white, with their strong and elegant look, are perfect for this a roaring 20s inspired decor.
   –
Modern Victorian Black&White Bathroom Decor
The key to the Modern Victorian style is mixing new with old and old with new. Wall panelings, subway tiles, matched with clean and modern furniture.

[symple_divider style=”dashed” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″]
2 | With a black and white bathroom decor you can be creative
The good thing about choosing a monochromatic palette is that it is really versatile and you can be creative with many decorating motifs, without going wrong.
You can opt for colour blocks, by underlining geometries with black, or you can play with patterns and textures. Indeed, if you go for a black and white palette, you can match very different patterns for a surprising yet refined effect. Think for example about matching geometries and stripes with bold florals, or for example optical with chequered: there are endless possibilities!
  [symple_divider style=”dashed” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″]
3 | You can also opt with black or white bathroom fixtures and taps
The bathroom fixtures are not just white, the faucets are not just in chrome finish, we know this. Actually the latest proposals are with coloured bathroom fixtures (including black) and with black faucets. Even if at the latest Cersaie fair I also spotted several new faucets proposals in white.
In a black and white bathroom for example you could opt for white interiors, and black contrasting elements, for an elegant and contemporary effect
    [symple_divider style=”dashed” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″]
4 | Black and White works well in small bathrooms
A black and white decor could be a great solution for small bathrooms. This is because it’s a very clean and simple palette, furthermore white helps to visually enlarge the space, while with black you can add some character to the space. These were the moodboards for my small bathroom in black and white
The Tip : Take Black and White color scheme seriously!
To achieve the result you are looking for, don’t be afraid to dare with only black and white. No addition in other colours. If you think the result might be too cold, onsider for example addinmg some accents in different materials such as metals or wood, or maybe some plants and natural green!

Every year we hear more and more about new blogs and social media pages focusing on the popular Scandinavian Interior Design trend. With all these names floating around, it is becoming increasingly hard to keep up. All of them feature amazing designs, inspiring tips and beautiful photographs, so this was a hard list to compile. However, I finally managed to combine my personal favorite 10 list of Scandinavian interior design blog: if you don’t already you should start following them now.
10 Scandinavian Interior Design Blogs
    Stylizimo
At the top of our Scandi inspired blogs is Nina Holst’s popular page Stylizimo. The blog was founded by Nina in 2010, out of her obsession with interior design. Although the blogger started writing about interior design trends and products that inspired her just as a hobby, the pastime quickly became a full time job. The blog has become popular all over the world, with over 195,000 followers on Instagram. As a photography lover, all photos posted on the blog are styled and taken by her. Her online presence is highlighted by a consistent aesthetic of Scandinavian glam style and by the simplicity and color neutrality of her photos. Niki is a stylist, photographer, influencer and painter who moved from London to Sweden in 2004. Her vision is to inspire like minded people with ethereal Scandinavian inspired home ideas. In an interview with houseology.com, Niki explains that her passion for design comes from her childhood surroundings, since she recalls her mother always filled her home with beautiful vintage finds.  Similar to other Scandinavian inspired blogs, Niki’s style includes a strong black and white or neutral color base, with simple touches of color. As if all of her accomplishments in the interior design blogger world were not enough, she is also author of three books; Lagom, The Scandinavian Home, and Modern Pastoral.   Coco Lapine Design
This blogger wasn’t born and doesn’t live in any Scandinavian country, however, this might be what makes her Scandinavian inspired blog even more interesting. Belgian born Sarah Van Peteghem now lives in Germany. She started her blog Coco Lapine a few years ago after she moved to Berlin to work as an interior designer. She explains that she is mostly inspired by Nordic style, and she enjoys combining the Nordic look with an industrial feel. How to Download the New ITALIANBARK Guide for Interior Design Trends 2018/ 2019
After visiting the IMM fair in Cologne on January and the Stockholm Furniture Fair this February, I worked to put together the new Interior Trend Guide. It was the right time for an update and to take a look at some interesting news for this year and 2019, six months after the guide I created last September. In the book you will find a recap of new design and color trends for this year and the next: 22 new trends, including interior styles, materials, color palettes, and everything new I noticed at the latest European design fairs. The newsletter surbscribers already got the guide in their mailbox it last week, but you can download it too from today with this link:
Make sure you follow the steps to download the book that you will get in your email, after confirming your subscription
Interior Design Trends: Should we Follow or Ignore them?
A good design should, above all, be long lasting and honest. This means go beyond current trends, that change in very few time. So now the question is: why we keep talking about trends in this blog?
I think that the reason really changes according to your profession. But, basically, learning design trends is useful for your job, if you work in the interior and design industry.
If you work for a company, or if you run your own company, knowing the current and future design trends can help in the research for new product launches. Also, in making a prediction in terms of sales for certain colors/materials/shapes.
If you work as a creative, following a design trend can look quite boring and predicted for your own freelance projects: you don’t want to do something original that next year you will see everywhere, right? So learning design trends is also a good way to avoid them. You can also learn about trends, then you can play with them in your own way. Or maybe deciding to go in the opposite direction. But, one thing that’s for sure: great designers don’t ignore design trends. They understand them, in order to do better with their own work.
What’s your opinion on this?
  [ ITALIAN ]
Interior Design Trends: Seguirli o Evitarli?

Working as a frelance talking more in general is quite stressing too: indeed, we have daily to deal with different clients, tasks, often dreaming about having a 48hrs day. ,“There has to be irony, both in design and in the objects. I see around me a professional disease of taking everything too seriously. One of my secrets is to joke all the time.” – Achille Castiglioni
About Achille Castiglioni, the Master of Italian Design
Achille Castiglioni (1918-2002) was an Italian architect and designer who made a delightful variety of objects from lighting to furniture.
He was born and raised in Milan, the son of a sculptor, brother to Livio and Pier Giacomo who were also architects and designers. He studied architecture at Politecnico di Milano and graduated after serving in WWII. He passed away in 2002, but his influence has carried on. His legacy has been enthusiastically shared by his children, Carlo and Giovanna Castiglioni, co-founders of Fondazione Achille Castiglioni.
           Fondazione Achille Castiglioni
The foundation is set in the studio space of Achille. It functions as a non-traditional museum-like gallery. Reserve a tour and step into his creative process by observing his book and magazine collection, drafts/sketches, prototypes, and objects. His daughter Giovanna often guides the tours encouraging questions, participation, and interaction to help each visitor discover something new. Her eyes are filled to the brim with curiosity and creativity, a trait passed on perhaps. This year celebrates 100 years of Achille through many events and exhibitions including 100×100 Achille at Fondazione Achille Castiglioni. The exhibit of everyday objects is gifted by some of the most important contemporary designers and curated by Chiara Alessi and Domitilla Dardi. It will be open through the upcoming Milan Design Week 2018 !

The interview 5 Questions & Answers with Giovanna Castiglioni
ITALIANBARK: Who or what inspired Achille?
GIOVANNA CASTIGLIONI: He was inspired by anonymous objects…that is, things that were useful and cheap, for example daily objects like toys or rolling pins. He remained very curious to find inspiration everywhere- in new materials, especially in new bulbs from America, books and magazines. He also spent a lot of time in hardware stores.
IB: What was his design philosophy?
GC: To reduce things to their essential elements. He was also committed to solving problems and simplifying designs during the process by being beside the workers. He wanted to solve problems for people because he was always curious about people in general.
For example the Lampadina in 1971 made for Flos was a lamp created with a base that could store the electric cord, as he was inspired by the film reel.
    Lampadina, Photo Credit: MoMA
IB: What is your favorite object of his?
GC: I have two if that’s alright? IB: Of course!
GC: The first was his favorite too – a light switch that he designed with his brother (Pier Giacomo) in 1968 for VLM Electronics, a switch still in production. I created a necklace with the switch, he carried one in his pocket. It’s a really useful common object and symbol of good ideas.
Lightswitch Photo Credit: Pinterest
The second object is a lamp he designed for me in 1982, produced by Flos, that resembles a smiling face. It’s no longer in production, but called Giovi, short for Giovanna.
IB: What was he like as a professor?
GC: He loved so much to investigate his projects with the students and would often bring a suitcase full of anonymous objects. He explained things through objects, like form and function through scissors. I would sometimes follow him to university- it was amazing to see a man absolutely young and open in front of every object. He was enthusiastic about his life and enjoyed it.
IB: Are there any contemporary architects or designers that you think have been influenced by Achille?
GC: There are many! Not just one. Many keep the irony alive, some interested more in form, others more in function. There’s a “piccolo Achille” in many, like Patricia Urquiola, Paolo Ulian, etc.

I’ll admit it, I have never been a dog person (unlike Elisabetta)…I feel more comfortable with the built environment.
Yet recently my younger brothers who live in Italy have adopted a super-cute Labrador puppy and suddenly a whole new world was open to me. I was very surprised at how friendly she was with me right away, it was touching. I wanted to feel more involved in her life – despite living abroad – so I started to look around for dog-friendly design (yes, my way to take care of her consists in shopping cute dog beds, creative toys and other cool things!).
Imagine my happiness when I stumbled on dog-friendly travel design brands. Yes, it’s a thing! And I’m here today to show you my two favourite finds.
Are you planning your vacations with your dog? Read below, the Pink Dog loves my selection (and you will, too).

PetsPyjamas | dog-friendly design
PetsPyjamas are the No.1 pet lifestyle website.
The brand is run by a community of animal lovers whose mission in life is to bring attention to the important place pets have in our lives as companions and family members.
At their Shoreditch HQ, every day is a “Bring Your Dog to Work Day”. Employees’ dogs are in fact the very testers of PetPyjamas products!
    Travel with your dog!
What makes them unique is that on petspyjamas.com you can browse hundreds of pet-friendly hotels, where your dog really is as welcome as you are. They also offer a free Pet Concierge service to help you find the perfect place for your holidays.
Moreover, if you book your journey through them, you’ll receive their super-cool travel box, which is their distinctive signature. The box’s content may vary but usually they give you a bowl, toys, biscuits and other treats so that your little friend will feel as pampered as at home (and you will save precious space in your suitcase too!).
  –
The Phodographer | dog-friendly memories
How about the memories you will carry out from your vacations with your dog ?
If PetPyjamas are the perfect resource to plan the journey, then you may as well ask someone to capture its most important memories. I’m talking about a young lady who is well known in the UK as The Phodographer and her beautiful website.
Annemarie King is a 25 year old wedding photographer who is really passionate about animals and the natural world. She believes every pet deserves to be remembered for all those funny little expressions that make it unique and special to its owner. She ended up taking so many beautiful photos of her dog that her wedding clients started to ask her to photograph their dogs as well. And The Phodographer was born!
Here is a selection of the beautiful pictures she takes, featuring people and their dogs while on holidays. They are really inspiring and plenty of love, don’t you think?
  –
    In a nutshell… Have fun!
As described on Yes Please (in this article featuring the 35 best dog-friendly hotels in the UK) there’s plenty of dog-friendly hotels that are committed to ensure your dog will have a memorable holiday time, just as much as you.
Treats may vary from wash and blow-dry or a full groom (Spread Eagle) to a private terrace to let your dog out at any time (Burley Manor & Lime Wood); from water bowls dotted around the hotel (The Headland ) to doggy afternoon tea with dog-friendly donuts and cupcakes (Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa )… There’s really no limit to what’s on offer.
The real question is: how much are you willing to treat your little friend?
    –
In poche parole… Divertitevi!
Top creative brands bringing dog-friendly travel to the next level I’ll admit it, I have never been a dog person (unlike Elisabetta)...I feel more comfortable with the built environment.

#MYHOMERESTYLING | 5 Things I would like in my new home office
This weekend I’m starting with the update of my small home office. It’s been such a long time since its last update and so many things have changed (well, positive changes! ) in the last years since then, including my full time job as freelancer. It’s almost two years now, can you believe it? || Read more about how to work and make money as an interior design blogger here I’m still not tired…

Maybe you will think it’s too early to talk about interior color trends for 2019 in February, right?
But, since I recently visited two of the main European design fairs which are also the first design fairs of the year, I think there is already enough material to make some consideration on this. Indeed, what’s spotted at the main fairs usually is what you will see around in the next year. That’s why visiting these events is really a good source for news and inspiration if you are in the interiors and design industry. Let’s see then in April at  Milan Design Week 2018 if these interior trends will be confirmed!

Pastels interior trend | the New Neutrals
The most interesting fact I spotted is a new use of colors and a new range of interesting shades. The new big trend, indeed, are pastels used as new neutrals.
I already mentioned this among the trends spotted at IMM Cologne 2018 and it was for sure confirmed at the Stockholm Furniture Fair and Stockholm Design Week. After the big trend around rich jewel tones and strong hues we saw last year (still going on, indeed), now it’s time for pales.
Milky ice-cream colors to be layered and use on walls and accessories, to replace white in a more confident way of decorating. To be complemented by warm and soft hues, such as beige and mushroom.
This return to pastel colors goes together with a new retro flavour with a Seventies twist that is clear in the soft shades and big structures of the latest furniture collection. Metals, like gold and brass, are still confirmed as key materials for accents, together with patterns and textures like the marble and terrazzo ones. But everything comes together in a new whole mood that is softer, brighter and toned down.
The pastels colors for 2018/2019
Here some pastel new hues I think will be very cool for the upcoming months:
Lilac : lavander and lilac are a much softer (and nicer!) version of the Ultra Violet trend announced by Pantone as Color of the Year 2018 (and that did not convince most of the interior designers, indeed)
Primrose Pink and Tea Rose : Millennial Pink is still everywhere and that was also at IMM Cologne and Stockholm Furniture Fair, but also in lighter and brighter hues and not just in the powder pink we are already used to see (a lot)
Peach Orange : the Seventies comeback comes together with a new use of earthy colors including orange tones. Peach Orange is a beautiful shade between Pink and Orange, quite neutral but not so much neutral: for this reason I’m bettng is will be the new Millennial Pink we will see very much around in the next months;
Celadon, Celery and Mint : I already posted about this colors in this article about the new greens. Love to see how the dark green trend has turned into these much lighter and soft hues of greens
Lemon Yellow : yellow is another of the key colors for this year, but here again in its lighter and fresh version of muted lime and lemon yellow
To better understand what I’m talking about when saying that pastels are the new neutrals, have a look for example at this home tour in pastels by Note Design Studio
What are your thoughts on this? I admit, I love this trend.
