I absolutely love this! I love the overall theme and think that flowers blooming is such a beautiful thing to watch. I really enjoyed the clips and song picking up in speed as the video progresses!
Project 3: One Minute Supercut- Nurtured Nature
In considering what I wanted to do for this project, I seemed to be super drawn to adding the imagery of flowers into this in some way. I didnā€™t know exactly how I wanted to depict them or what message I wanted to send so I did some research on some key words, flowers, life, nature. After doing this my ideas expanded, and I remembered a song that is dear to my heart for many reasons that I wanted to depict in this project as well. This song from Porter Robinson named Lifespan shares an instrumental of the waves of life in excitement and somber. This beautiful soundtrack makes a perfect background for the floral display of this project. Displaying the life and beauty of flowers and their birth was the goal. So, the final product of this piece shares a compilation of flowers growth and existence focusing on the beauty of each specific flower. The name of this project is derived partly from the song as it is in an album called Nurture by Porter Robinson, additionally the ā€œnatureā€ part being self-explanatory pointing toward flowers.

Oh my god!! I love Doctor Who! Youā€™ve included such important clips especially with the different doctors introducing themselves. Not only that, but you also included some of my favorite scenes. Watching this makes me want to rewatch this show!
Project 3: We are the Doctor
youtube
Doctor who is a show that has been running since 1963 (with a short intermission). It has touched many peoples lives over that long time period, and continues to do so. It was an integral part of my childhood and many others. It teaches lesson, morality, emotional maturity and development, how to be silly, how to be serious, and how to be brave. This all sounds a little dramatic but there are many parts of who I am today and my worldview that I can attribute to this show and its presence during my formative years. Not only is this show a great love of mine, but media itself is so important and plays a big role in childrenā€™s development, and the subject matter and lessons continue to be revered by people well into their adult hood.

Artist Statement: Art Project 3: One Minute Supercut
Walks in the rain have always been my method of coping with the feelings of anxiety and depression. Iā€™ve noticed that as I have gotten into the repetitive pattern of using walks in the rain to cope, it feels like the rain will never stop, just how in my lowest moments, these feelings never stop. By selecting a number of clips that follow a YouTuberā€™s walks in Seoul, South Korea, I envision myself walking in the same place, even if it doesn't rain as often as I would want it to, via the internet, rain is forever.

I really love your gifs and the mix of colors and black and white. I think it gives it a good contrast. Iā€™ve never seen any of these films but looking at these gifs makes me want to see what Jim Jarmusch has to offer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I think of my relationship with gifs I feel connected with them most for their esthetic qualities. Most often I enjoy gifs not for their comedic value, but for the fact that they are somewhat reminiscent of a fading memory. Their low quality and repetitive nature remind me of real-life, but in the undistinguished, fuzzy way. Somewhat like recalling a moment from a dream. When trying to find a way to incorpurate these feelings into gifs I created, Jim Jarmusch came to mind. He is the director of one of my favorite movies, which is one of the films I used to create these gifs called Down By Law (1986). Another one of his films I took snippets from is called Night On Earth (1991). Jim Jarmuschā€™s movies always make me think of the peculiarities of everyday life. Throughout his films, I feel he always beautiful depicts scenes that represent and embody the human condition, as well as the environments the characters happen upon or dwell in. With these two aspects he builds the characteristics of characters and the relationship they have to there surroundings. While collecting the ā€˜materialā€™ for these gifs I tried to find moments that reminded me of moments in my own life or sense that had the feeling of a dream or foggy memory.

I am such a big fan of Rocky Horror and I throughly enjoyed looking at these gifs! They captured my attention and if I wasnā€™t already a previous fan I would want to look into the movie more!

Art Project 2: The Loop The Rocky Horror Picture Show ā€œSweet Transvestiteā€
Growing up, I was always fascinated by The Rocky Horror Picture show. I would catch glimpses of the movie when it played on the TV, hoping that I could watch more of it before my parents found out. The music, dancing, and costumes made me feel like I was watching something that was taboo. I have one memory of finding my dad watching it on our family TV and being really surprised that such a strait-laced man such as my father would watch this movie. He probably felt the same taboo I felt at the time. Watching the movie again as an adult I understand why it is so popular. The characters are so hilariously portrayed, and the story is ridiculously fun. I selected clips from the song ā€œSweet Transvestiteā€ from The Rocky Horror Picture show because of the confidence Dr. Frank-N-Furter exulted during his introduction. This movie still feels a little taboo but in a good way.

I really enjoyed these gifts, the color focused gifs in order of the rainbow really makes it aesthetically pleasing and brings something more than just a scene being turned into a gif!
The Loop Project
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For this project, I made a series of GIFs from an episode of Avatar the Last Airbender. Each GIF goes through the stages that Aang (the main character) experiences to open his chakras. I specifically wanted to use these selections to continue the theme in canvas, thus, the GIFā€™s all capture a moment of opening through the 7 chakras.Ā
I now realize that ā€œopenā€ wasnā€™t meant to be the literal theme. (Frantically trying to cover-up the obvious mistake here.) Nonetheless, I thought it was a good play on words to create something compelling. The prompt mentioned using a favorite movie which encouraged me to think about some of the TV series I like and through this the concept was inspired.

I absolutely love the theme of your gifs and I really enjoy how the all included a variety of looping. It really wrapped together the whole witchy vibes!
A Witch House
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A series of ten animated gifs for my school project the loop. When I was young my mom would tell me about her neighbor back in ND that she was scared of. The old woman lived in an A frame house and on Halloween she would make a sweet called divinity and wrap it in small pieces to give out to the kids trick or treating. However, she dressed up as a witch with a giant cauldron and would hand out the candy from the cauldron while she was ā€œstirringā€ it. It is a favorite small random story of mine that my family talks about and it inspired me to do these ten gifs. However, being an over achiever I took way too long and some ended up way to complex and detailed so I opted for a more cartoonish and simpler style of gif instead of trying to animate every single thing in the image. Hope you enjoy!

DEKO + YAMEII ONLINEĀ
Deko and Yameii Onlineā€™s influence on the modern-day music world is more than just songs, it is art. The virtual musician under the name Yameii Online was made by musicianand artist Deko and Osean World who illustrate and write the music for Yameii. In many of Deko and Yameiiā€™s music videos are integrations of the virtual world and the real world. Much like gifs, the scenes in the music videos are snippets of art provided for us to keep entertained. The collection of vibrant colors and flashing lights draw the viewer in. These gifs highlight the attention-grabbing visuals and collaborations between the real and virtual world.

Philadelphia-born Sarah Dodson studied in the city before moving to France and England, where she developed her talent for imaginative historical figure painting. In this picture she references the famous honey that the beekeepers of ancient Athens produced in the Hymettus mountains. Visit this portrait in our American galleries.

Blue - Keshi
I chose to make a gifs of Keshiā€™s music video for his songĀ ā€œBlueā€ because itā€™s my favorite song at the moment. I have known how to make gifs for a couple of years now, so I added a bit of coloring on these as well!Ā
