New Beginnings || Klance

This wasn’t the way Keith wanted it to go.

He hadn’t wanted Lance and Allura to get together, he hadn’t wanted Allura to die, he hadn’t wanted Lance to isolate himself for years while Keith was too busy with the Blade to help him.

It wasn’t supposed to end this way.

So it didn’t.

He didn’t let it.

After the last Blade mission, he had a month or two before the next one began. Usually during this time he helped around the same location, checking in an everyone, but something changed now. He’d talked to Pidge the day before and she’d said that she hadn’t seen Lance in months, that he was hiding away on the family farm and refusing to interact with everyone.

“He’s so sad anymore, just like when you left the first time,” he remembered her saying. “He was so happy when you came back then, maybe you can cheer him up now.”

So that was why Keith was landing at the Garrison for the first time in what felt like forever, hardly sparing anyone else a glance as he went to find a hoverbike in the garage. His old one had been destroyed when the Galra attacked Earth, and he’d never gotten around to finding a replacement.

“Keith, you’re back!”

Hi! My name is Lena and I’m your average hobbyist artist, who likes drawing sparkly glowing things and cute people.

I’ve been in the Voltron Community since the beginning, but because I was shy, I didn’t start to post my art until around a year later. Thanks to Voltron, I’m not afraid to show my art anymore and I met some wonderful people. Because of that, I want to show my appreciation to the VLD fandom. When I saw Keith, I knew this boy would be my favorite. Maybe it’s because of his design or maybe because I felt his struggles and problems and saw myself in him. I’m glad that I became a part of Voltron fandom, because this is a part of my life that I don’t want to forget.

By participating in this zine, I want to show all my love and gratitude to you all and say ‘thank you’. I’m happy to be able to contribute to this zine and I’m looking forward to show you what I bring to the zine.

Thank you to all the people who have been supporting us so far. Through your kind words, we have finally reached the point that everyone has been waiting for. Applications are open! Until March 17th you have the chance to sign up as a writer, artist, or merch creator. You are more than welcome to apply for more than one position (or all), but please complete a separate form for each. Requirements are as following:

Writers: Required to send in 2-3 samples of your writing that total no more than 5,000 words. These samples can be full stories, or excerpts. Please make sure that all submissions are in English. At least one sample should be Keith-focused. NSFW submissions are allowed, but please remember that this is a SFW zine, so make sure to note it on your application if you send in something NSFW.

Artists: Required to send in 3-4 examples. At least one sample should be Keith focused. All pieces should be complete to the best of your ability. Again, NSFW will be allowed, but please make sure to include a note on your application. If your samples are of varying styles, let us know which style you plan to include in the zine if you are selected.

Hi! I’m Maddy. I enjoy both drawing and writing as hobbies, but for this zine I will be contributing as an author. I’ve been in love with Voltron since a little bit after Season 1 first started streaming. Keith is honestly one of the biggest reasons I ever started watching. Seeing him all over my social media just convinced me I needed to find out who he is, and I’m so glad I did. Everything about him as a character is just so wonderful and it makes me so happy. Getting to be in a zine that’s completely focused on him is a dream come true.
