I am the most horrible mod ever, but I blame my new job unabashedly.

This week was supposed to be Bain Massani Week, but I failed to get anything prepped in time. 

I’m honestly not sure what to do. Except maybe push it to the week of Fall Break so that I won’t be swamped and exhausted. But that feels kind of like a cop out ... and a little bit like cheating. 

So, I’m asking you guys ... reschedule? Or let it just fly by?

Important OTP Questions

I haven’t talked about this pair much, but this is the perfect chance, right? So I’m going to be a little greedy and go with the ones I’m writing right this second: 

Maritza Ryder & Bain Massani

Though I’ll say it now. I think this set of questions might just be heavily weighted in one direction.

Who thinks they are not good enough for the others love? Bain is fascinated at the start, but when he starts to notice signs of something more for himself, and from her. He’s certain that he’s the worst choice she could possibly make. He’s ‘one of Tann’s scary exiles’ and he’s not really even part of that group. There’s nothing he can really offer her or her cause. He’s just a disgruntled guy, whose hobby at it’s heart was a way to speed up the inevitable.

Who’s more afraid of losing the other? They both are. But as much as Massani is sure he’s the worst decision she could ever make, he is deathly afraid of losing her. And at least as afraid of her losing him. It changes some things for him. Not his hobbies or his outlook, but he eventually becomes less of an isolationist.

Who thinks they keep messing up, only for the other to tell them they don’t need to worry?This is Maritza to a tee. She never did that whole relationship thing. She was more interested chasing her dreams until they crashed around her in tatters. Then she was left trying to scrape up the pieces. 

She blows up and rips herself to shreds for every perceived mistake, in part I think because she hasn’t really taken a chance to deal with what happened with her dad. Somehow, she’s still seeing it as her mistake. If she’d repaired her helmet better, if she’d protected her face, maybe the face plate wouldn’t have shattered. He wouldn’t have had to make that choice. He’d still be here, … if it weren’t for her. 

So by far, it is Maritza who is constantly thinking she’s screwing up. Because it’s new to her and because she has a penchant for piling fault on herself. The last seems compounded by the expectations of the Initiative, especially Tann.

And finally, big surprise, Reydani: Who’s loud? All of them to an extent. Reyes is probably the loudest.

Who’s quiet? Bain is likely the quietest of the three.

Does one try to make the other louder/quieter? Bain tries to get them to be louder. I don’t think any of them aim to quiet anyone, except when they end up getting playful in places where stealth is a must, which I’m sure happens with these three.

How?Bain is a voracious tease. He likes to push their limits. Reyes likes to encourage more vocalizations from Mari, and he tends to use some of Bain’s tricks. Teasing her pushing her to the edge.

Lights on or off? On. But they have nothing against doing it in the dark either.

Do they look at each other? Yes, often. Though some more than others. Reyes always looks at them. Bain stares too. Maritza gets into the act as well, eventually, but she does not enjoy catching sight of herself–she’ll stare at either of the fellas all day long.

Or is someone embarrassed?Early on, I think Maritza has some embarrassment, especially as she sees it … being with two goddamn beautiful men. She’s scarred and dark, and not glamorous at all. But I think she moves past it eventually.

Open or closed relationship? Their relationship started out open, but each of them was only sleeping with the others of the trio, even though they weren’t aware of it at the point. There is a point however where they all discover it and end up making it something else, something closed between the three of them.

Do they sometimes share?Yes, I imagine it is more rare than they would like, but I think they share with one another whenever they can make it happen. But I don’t know that they share with anyone beyond their triad.

For Reydani: Who cooks?Who’s the messiest? The cleanest?Who fixes the vehicle after a breakdown?Living space has a leak! Who fixes it?Who buys the groceries?Going out to eat: Who pays? Who orders the most food? And who has dessert?

Reydani: Reyes Vidal / Maritza Ryder / Bain Massani

Who cooks?Of these three the most likely to cook is Mari, but it’s still not likely.

Who’s the messiest? I think Maritza is probably the messiest, though it could be Reyes. I mean he was in the service so there could be some ingrained/trained neatness, but I also have to wonder if he doesn’t rail against it a little and is messy simply because he can be.

The cleanest?This is Bain by far. His control goes far and wide. Everything has a place and a purpose. At least everything inanimate and non-sentient. It’s the people in his life that tend to turn Bain’s life upside down.

Who fixes the vehicle after a breakdown?Ship/Shuttle: Reyes. Ground vehicle: Maritza/Bain. Though I have to imagine that in those moments they are kind of like Kallo and Gil. They each have their own way of doing things and tend to get in one another’s way–to fabulous results.

Living space has a leak! Who fixes it?This depends on whose place it is. Bain’s ship, he fixes it. Maritza’s ship Gil fixes it. Reyes’ ship/base: Reyes gets to handle it however he sees fit. 

Who buys the groceries?This is an interesting question. But honestly, I think it is most likely to be Maritza. Though Reyes makes sure the bar is always stocked. Though Bain’s not adverse to provisioning.

Going out to eat: Who pays? Mari or Bain. Reyes never pays. It’s likely a running joke whenever he suggests going out for dinner or a drink. I can see Bain and Mari playing Rock, Paper, Scissors behind his back to see who gets to pay.

Who orders the most food? Maritza. She can and does pack it away. Of course, she also burns a lot of it off, with them and in the field. But she usually shocks them with how much she can eat. 

And who has dessert?They all indulge. Usually each ordering something different and sharing, tempting one another with spoonfuls of sweet decadence.
