character biography: - dipper pines is the identical twin of mabel pines, born in piedmont, california. childhood for dipper was miserable, marked by being different, and not just because of the birthmark smack dab in the middle of his forehead that acted as the reason for his nickname. while his sister, mabel, seemed almost too comfortable in her skin, dipper seemed to never be able to make his fit quite right. they were identical, dressed up identical for pictures when they were young. they were different in temperament, mabel all over the place while dipper couldn’t seem to get enough quiet, but it wasn’t just that. turning ten meant cutting off long hair, the word tomboy less affectionately thrown around (though he’d never once been into sports), meant dipper refusing to answer to anything but that. - twelve meant being called mabel’s brother, even if the corrections came loudly from her mouth, without dipper ever having to ask. it also meant learning to run, fast, more of a target for bullies than ever. twelve meant that their parents didn’t know what to do with either of them, more than just a handful. going to visit their great uncle stan was supposed to be a sort of wake up call to the world, was meant to make them learn, at least according to how their parents had talked after receiving the offer to send the twins to gravity falls for the summer. - being packed up on a bus and shipped away was the only part of the summer that was expected. learning wasn’t supposed to be learning about the supernatural, about levels of ‘weird’ only attracted to certain towns that act as hotspots, about secret organizations and decade long ploys, but it was. - the summer was insane even before the demon reared his weird, triangle head, and that’s not something a lot of people can say. finding out that the journals that dipper had been pouring over all summer were written by grunkle stan’s twin brother, that stan was stanley, not stanford, the brother they were supposed to be with, that ford had been trapped in a hell of his own making after the pursuit of knowledge had led to making a deal with an extra-terrestrial, inter-dimensional demon,  that said demon had been responsible for the events of the summer and so much more should’ve been more of a shock to his system, but he’d been primed for it. it only started getting really weird when he was possessed, and only terrifying after armageddon was threatened. - big, dramatic demon fighting can never be simple, even when it’s a team effort. the ‘weirdness’ bubble around gravity falls was a barrier that couldn’t be passed, like pennywise’s similar issues with derry, and the gravity falls townsfolk helped in the fight against the demon, bill cypher, as much as they could. the event simply referred to as ‘never mind all that’ was wiped from their memories shortly after, gradually fading the same as a million strange memories over the years had, dealing with monsters and the other strange events in the town, thanks to previously mentioned secret societies. - unlike most people who experience huge life changes, when offered the chance to stay in gravity falls dipper declined, not wanting to leave his sister. - dipper was miserable at first, around people who hated him, disrespected him, bullied him, but it was worth it for mabel, even if they grew apart and into their own people as they got older, no longer one half of a whole. dipper lived for summer (eventually winter) breaks in gravity falls. - additional things of note: dipper, using an alias, wrote a middle grade series based on a more subdued version of his first summer in gravity falls while still in high school, only managing to do something with it due to his grunkle ford’s insane connections. dipper didn’t completely hate school, found a very small niche in his first two years of high school, expanding slightly when the school was protested to allow him on the boy’s track team, with dipper good enough to earn some respect. dipper was dual enrolled when he was in high school, allowing him to take some college courses early. dipper goes to pacific union. dipper should not be allowed access to the insane amounts of money his grunkes have acquired through dubious means, because it means occasional ‘paranormal’ investigating turned into a hobby, which turned into just what he does during summers now.

explanation of what has drawn them/why they are heading to kilgate: tracking ‘the weird’ is what dipper does, essentially. he’s drawn to any place where rumors start to trickle into something larger, and indiana’s already been a place on the (literal, tacked up) map for dipper due to the events in hawkins only a few years ago. 

any important canon divergences to note: for starters dipper is trans (though i firmly believe thats the case in the show as well) my take on how i go about this in the time period is a little too long to insert here, but medical transition wise it’s connected to ford. i change the tone of the show more than any one event, keeping the humor but making the events more serious. short list of things not included in this portrayal of dipper: love god, any of the time travel shenanigans (sorry to time baby, you will be missed), the manotaurs (because i just made dipper’s transness canon), the gremloblin. short list of things included in this portrayal of dipper that are changed to be bill cypher’s method of luring the twins: the gnomes (so sorry to jeff, who doesn’t really exist here), mermando, a majority of the more ‘out there’ things that don’t fit in a server with this combination of fandoms. of course, the show ends with mabel and dipper at a very young age, so from thirteen onwards dipper’s life is very headcanon based, with the twins returning to gravity falls each summer until their high school graduation. the most important piece of information here is that i have ford open a selective university for delving into anomalies and cryptozoology on a scientific level, though this mostly acts as an independently accredited grad program / school.

the answer is absofuckinglutely to this one anon, i personally adore gravity falls and have seen some older aus that would work really well for gravity falls characters! i could see them (at least the mystery twins) being around the party/ losers club’s ages for sure

character biography:

first steps . . .

there are places in russia that are too difficult to see on maps. for everyone else, they are too far north, they are too cold, too sparsely populated... to be of importance.

in one of these places, in a small village with a house in low conditions, alexei vasilyevich sokolov is born. he's the third child of vasily and yulia, a nice but reserved couple. his house differs from the others, because it's painted azure blue and its corroded roof is far from being repaired. it gets damaged too often to be worthwhile. is what the climatic condition of siberia costs.

his mother calls him alyosha, as do his brothers, mikha and tatiana. mikha is the oldest, twelve years old charged to the reins himself when alexei is four years old. tatiana is ten, but her maturity indicates a much older age. it's what it takes to live in a large family, with more children than can be fed.

but alexei doesn't know much about it. only that there are two meals maximum a day, his rations and those of tatiana are the largest, and their mother tends to leave them half of her plate with a decayed smile.

to leningrad . . .

alexei is twelve when his mother dies, and suddenly every tower in his life falls.

his siblings are of age, and his father can't keep everyone afloat in the slums they already live. so he takes young alexei from vladivostok to leningrad, and leaves him at the care of an old friend of his. he owes his father favors, or so he hears, and suddenly he's allowed education, a roof over his head and food if he cleans the house and helps the man with his work.

nikolai introduces him to the future solace of his life —and the greatest catalyst for every sorrow to come: science.

the middle . . .

his success secures him a place as a scientist for the ussr, a pivotal role several men in his profession took since the start of the cold war. he hasn't seen his siblings, nor his father, and his caretaker and mentor is dead by the time alexei has turned twenty-two.

his work takes every single part of his life, drains him from having friends, a family, something akin to normalcy. he has a better economical position, yet the war keeps them from accessing to most capitalist privileges. he sometimes rents on the low american cartoons, and that's how he keeps himself secretly entertained in his secluded and lonely life.

the end . . .

he got himself almost killed for chasing the american dream. how ironic.

yet, he didn't. grigori made sure of that. his fellow comrades took his wounded body, and when he opened his eyes, alexei found himself back in mother russia, deemed as a traitor and sentenced as such. torture would follow suit, iron grip on every day of his life.

however, his intellect still deemed him worthy of staying sane and alive. he was kept as a prisoner, of course, yet he was forced to work and stayed safe due to those conditions. as a whole, his life was conditioned, and it stayed that way until he found his opportunity.

explanation of what has drawn them/why they are heading to kilgate:

his team was transferred to the city after suspicious activity that needed to be investigated. however, he sabotaged the helicopter, leaving him stranded and hurt in american soil yet completely free —if they don't find him first.

**character biography:**

maurice bauman was an only child born to older parents in the mid-fourties who really didn't like him very much.

murray knew he was a little.. different to other kids when he was in school. he didn't seem to care about the things that would keep his peers entertained. it didn't bother him being an outsider, as he actually quite enjoyed his own company. he was used to it after all -- he would often come home to an empty house and make his own entertainment. his dad left when he was 10, and since then his mother and him did become closer, though it wasn't the healthiest of relationships.

murray took his love of learning and discovering things into his older life, becoming an investigative journalist and being quite successful initially. eventually though, his love for all things strange and his general otherness meant that he was often given the *weird* cases -- the ones that the others wouldn't take. this left him searching for conspiracies and deeper reasonings for things, and gave him quite a dose of paranoia. his life consisted of him and the all too often calls from his mother.

since the disappearance of barbara holland, murray's life has truly taken a turn for the weird; the discovery of secret experiments, of alternative realities seeping into their own and children with mind powers was just the thing that murray was looking for his whole life -- along with the family he had found along the way.

**explanation of what has drawn them/why they are heading to kilgate:** that's just what uncle murray does now! if his found family needs help so he's gonna be there no doubt about it.
