It's gotta be something simple, I just need a spare day to figure it out. Work's crazy busy but I'm arranging to have a Sunday off in 2 weeks from now. Also, should have my new driveshafts any day now. We're so close. π€
Well, it's that time again! After a week's effort, I have another EV review video for your pleasure:
https://youtu.be/SNNtyUomTSE
This one is the Omoda E5: maybe the best value EV available in NZ today, starting at $48k with 430km range + HEAPS of toys. It has a scary quirk thoβ¦ π¬
Just poured 4 hours into the editing next EV conversion video and it's coming along. About 50% done now.
Gonna be a crazy week so no more Allegro work until next weekend unfortunately, when I'm HOPING to figure out why on earth the electric motor's not starting.
Got a few questions today about the Nissan Leaf motor installed into my Austin Allegro and I realised quite a few folks haven't watched the install video. It's a fun watch and it's quite satisfying:
Good news: I heard back from the fabricator and my driveshafts should be finished in about a week! Next step is to figure out why the Nissan Leaf motor isn't starting. π€
That's impressive.
This manufacturer employs a complicated robotic system to test wear & tear on the vehicle's suspension system by painstakingly recreating the effects of New Zealand roads.
Well, that time has come.
A week of effort has culminated in a video.
Now it's up to those few who are lucky enough to see this post on this website and Mr Alfred Gorithm, who ultimately determines my fate.
Wish me luck.

Will be interesting to see if my Volvo EX30 video flops when it drops.
The problem is, cars which have quirks & flaws make for really interesting viewing, but this car is very... normal? It's all very sensible and grown up. It feels quite Swedish.
Got good news & bad news. Despite our efforts, we just couldn't quite figure out how to get the motor powered up. We were able to talk to the VCM though.
But all work has to stop for a week as I have two big videos to produce immediately. Many long days ahead.
I'm tired. π
Arrrgh. Many hours later, it doesn't power up. Not sure if I have a wiring problem, a VCM problem or a Nissan Leaf motor problem. Running out of time and energy now so I might have to tackle this tomorrow after work. God only knows what the problem is.
*sad kiwi noises*
You know you're old when you see big celebrity headlines and have no idea who anyone is.
I'm gonna make a cuppa, put on some 80s new wave and work in the garage now. π
