In 2008, Designer Joe Harmon took on the dubiously tedious task of building a car. But not just any car. A supercar. And not just any supercar, a supercar made of wood.
The Splinter, a true labor of love, is the world’s first and only supercar constructed out of wood. After 7 years, The Splinter was finally completed in 2015, and was shown to an excited audience at the Essen Motor Show from Nov 27-Dec 6, 2015.
The Splinter is a mid-engine set up that houses a 4.6 Liter v-8 that produces roughly 600 horsepower, a 0-60 in the low 3’s, and an estimated top speed of somewhere in the 240-mph neighborhood.
The car consists of wood composite, and are woven into a carbon fiber(esque) material that adds strength and durability. Other parts of The Splinter are also created from wood composite, including wood inserts on the wheels.

Vorsteiner, an aftermarket modification company, created the “Novara” with a new front fascia, front spoiler, air splitter, fender vents, rear bumper, and a new rear wing.
The Huracan is equipped with a 5.2 Liter, V-10 that produces 610hp.
