another hater take is that ned is a better politician than tywin bc tywin broke ~the social contract~ so badly that now no one trusts the social contract anymore and it means his family’s allies are gonna jump ship the moment they find someone less cartoonishly evil, and the lannisters will be left with no one but the most hated, shitty ass people in westeros as allies by the time the war over westeros part 2 starts. also can u call someone a good politician if they’re so hated their own kid mercs them.
meanwhile ned managed to keep AN ENTIRE TREASONOUS CONSPIRACY so under the radar that no one even SUSPECTS jon is lyanna’s son AND most of the north is still fairly willing to crown a stark any stark based off of “well ned was a solid guy and we need the boltons the fuck out of here” alone! it turns out when you spend all your time letting your kids know you hate them for who they are and commit war crimes at the slightest provocation, it makes people think you’re kind of a dickhead! everyone knows the lannisters are fucking but no one knows about jon and that’s ned’s power!

"You know nothing, Jon Snow" isn't a phrase that should determine Jon's cleverness or indicate he's among the most ignorant characters.
Context is always important. When Ygritte told him this quote for the first time, he was a teen boy raised and educated in westerosi society- a society with strong prejudice against the Free Folk. So, he was as clueless about them as all the other westerosi people ( other pov characters are all included).
What truly matters is that Jon didn't remain stuck in his bias but actually observed and listened to Free Folk's perspective on things. Unlike what he was taught - that those people were savages - he came see them as fellow human beings who deserved the same protection westerosi people had ( aka the Wall protecting them from Others). Some of the people he truly admires and respects are among the Free Folk.
I know there is a notion in this fandom that Starks' views remain unchanged but Jon is a very adaptive character. He always listens different perspectives and has no problem to change his former views if he realises they were wrong. He's far from the " know nothing" stereotype of someone who is ignorant about the world and willfully continues to be so.
A quote I believe that highlights the type of person Jon is and actually has links to the original "Know nothing" Ygritte quote is this one below:
They know nothing, Ygritte. And worse, they will not learn.

Okay, so we all know from official maps that District 4 is on the west coast of the US.
We also know from official maps that due to global warming, places like Maine and Nova Scotia have been claimed by the sea.
This makes me think that at some point in Panem pre-dark-days history, there was some kind of mass migration of outsiders into District 4. Here's why:
Mags Flanagan, Finnick Odair, Annie Cresta! What do these names all have in common? They are very Irish! The area I mentioned above (specifically Maine) is known to have a deeply Irish history (I mean, just look at a map. Bangor, Belfast, Limerick, etc). This makes me think that the people from these areas brought themselves (and therefore their names) to District 4 some time ago. We don't really see this anywhere else! Most other places have trade-based names.
With how intentional Suzanne Collins is about the names she gives her characters, I don't think this was an accident. Let me know your thoughts!
In conclusion: keep naming your D4 characters after fish, but also name them Eileen, and Sean, and Fiona, and Liam!

say what you will about political genius cersei lannister but history will remember her progressive reforms (inventing the idea of firing the kingsguard, elevating bastards to the small council, probably like doubling the funding to STEM research between qyburn and the pyromancers, setting the tower of the hand on fire, etc.) thats the first queen of westeros and its first ever ruler to not have any targaryen blood (unless).
