EXTRA Entry!
Character: Futch Series: Genso Suikoden III by Konami
Model: - My brother
==========
This is the only costume I made for my brother that I had no part in otherwise. Futch is his favorite Suikoden 3 character and I found it challenging so I agreed to make it for him! Eventually I was suppose to cosplay another Suikoden character, and we do have some plans for the future, that we'll see if they pan out!
==========
The headband was made from cardboard (base), spray painted PVC pleather, tacky glue, craft wire, and ribbon. The wig was a Cosworx Clover-L in color 6. I cut and styled it. The ascot was crepe cut into a simple square. Double stitched; handstitched first hem, machine straight-stitched second. The tunic was made from simple cotton fabric. Made the pattern from a tank top. The armband was just a strip of leftover fabric from tunic.
The light body armor was made from black vinyl with black cotton trim. I used 6 1-inch buckles; 3 on either side with 12 rivets and strips of cotton. The vinyl was cut to shape, then the black cotton trim was sewn over. Buckles were from eJoyce. Rivets and setter kit from Michael's. The original shoulder armor you see here was made from Sculpey, but it honestly looks pretty bad and eventually broke. He had his buddy, Uneven Pictures, remake it for him later on!
Last little bits... the grey sash was made from broadcloth. Simple rectangle; hemmed. 10 rivets to make the belt loops, which are sewn in anyway. Velcro is used to keep it in place. The actual waist belt is just more black vinyl and a 2.5" buckle. The hanging straps were more black vinyl and 11 nailheads at the bottom. They were sewn to grey belt sash. I actually made the gloves, but up close they're horrible. Pattern was just tracing the hand on some brown vinyl, and stretchy light brown cotton for straps. More black vinyl for the top bits.
The boots were Captain-100s bought from Cosworx and I used leftover grey fabric for the fold-over bits, and left over tunic fabric for the straps. The pants were just black Dickies.
My brother spent a lot of time crafting the sword, but we were so green at prop making that it didn't pan out the way he'd hoped. I think he's remade it nowadays.

No. 34 - 2023
Character: Lan Wangji (Adult ver.) Series: Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Cosplayer Credits: - Wei Wuxian: Raquel
Photog Credits: - Allison
==========
I was pulled so far back into the BL community and was obsessed with MDZS. Wangji was a particular favorite and I found it so fun to run around with my best friend in these costumes. I'm a sucker for props and I also really enjoyed having a weapon and instrument, haha.
==========
I bought everything for this costume and it's probably the most expensive, by far, as a result. The costume, wig and boots were all from Doki Doki Cosplay. The guqin was from Bhiner Cosplay and the sword was from EZ Cosplay. I did style the wig to my liking, making it look a bit more like the Audio Drama artwork.

Character: Espeon (Gijinka) Series: Pokémon by Nintendo
Photog Credits: - Nate Take Photography - Chris
==========
Espeon is (probably) my absolute favorite Pokémon and I've actually wanted to do a version of her for a very long time! I decided to make a kind of modern-day psychic. 🤣 And of course, purple is my favorite color, so it was a no brainer. 😉 Everything was bought for this costume! Notably, the ears & tail from Etsy seller KaliKatCosplay.

==========
Raquel and I also really loved Sk8 and decided to do The Bois™. Even though this was mostly pulled from my closet/thrifted, I went the extra mile to include some fun details. 😂
==========
I painted my shoes to make them closer in color to his and hand-painted his skateboard! I have trimmed his wig to be a bit more accurate and I'd like to maybe sand the skateboard to match the correct shape a bit more!

Character: Sasaki Shuumei Series: Sasaki & Miyano by Harusono Shou
Cosplayer Credits: - Miyano: Raquel
Photog Credits: - Allison
==========
I have gotten back into BL in such a big way and SasaMiya was absolutely a huge favorite. My best friend, Raquel, asked if I wanted to do Sasaki with her Miyano and I didn't hestitate to say yes!
==========
I thrifted and bought pretty much the whole thing. I made his stud earrings since I have no piercings and painted a belt I already owned to match more closely. I'll probably trim up his wig a bit more before our other planned shoot. 🤭

Character: Kugisaki Nobara Series: Jujutsu Kaisen by Akutami Gege
Photog Credits: - Badger Studios
==========
I love her un-lady-like attitude (cause I'm pretty much the same) while still enjoying girly things. And I LOVE that she uses a hammer and nails. Sounds silly, but as my dad was a carpenter, I love characters that use tools like that. I'm sure he'd have gotten such a kick out of it. Like, sure, she uses voodoo curses, but like, she could've used sewing pins or needles, but NO, they were like, this is the kind of chick that uses a full on HAMMER AND NAILS. Love it!
==========
I bought this costume off of Pro Cosplay. It came with weird stockings so I bought better black ones at CVS. I thrifted the shoes (lucky find)! The wig was off of Amazon... not the best; I styled it only little. The props were also off of Amazon.

Character: Kino Makoto (Sailor Jupiter ver.) Series: Sailor Moon by Takeuchi Naoko
Cosplayer Credits: - Mars: Raquel
Photog Credits: - Allison
==========
Man, this was my middle school dream cosplay. I always thought I'd make it and spent so long planning out how I'd do it, and yet, in the end, I waited to too long! Haha. This was absolutely awesome though! So glad I got to wear it with my best friend and fulfill our dreams. I do want to fix up her wig a bit and I've started to make her rose belt from the manga, so I'm sure you'll see more of this one in the future~ 😊
==========
The costume was purchased from eBay seller Pro Cosplay (now adrians.chan), the wig from cosmile_studio, boots from shuanglin65, and the rose earrings from happy_fashion_1123. The upgraded tiara was from CatziasCollectibles on Etsy.
For the belt, I bought the white and pink beads from beadstobows on Etsy, a clear empty ornament and fake pink rose stem from the Dollar Store, and used clear fishing line to string it along.

Character: Cambria Kigannon (KBI ver.) Series: The Amory Wars by Claudio Sanchez
Cosplayer Credits: - Claudio: Chaz - Al: Son of a Glitch - Red Army Soldiers: Tony & Jason - Wilhelm Ryan: Lee Torren
Photog Credits: - Several friends - Leo of FL Geek Scene - Ernest Falconer
==========
This is my first official comic costume and I pulled it together for the Coheed Cruise in 2020... where my then boyfriend proposed to me! I still haven't taken any fancy photos of her, but I genuinely had such a great time running around as her.
==========
I based her design off her action figure. Bought the shirt, leggings, boots and wig; trimmed the wig. Made the belts and pouches out of pleather. Would like to upgrade them one day to something more complicated and even closer in accuracy to the figure. They are held in place by safety pins on the underside of the clothes.
I'm really uncomfortable in contacts, especially ones that make me blinder, so I decided to use makeup to achieve a blind-eye look. For the hand blasts, I wanted to mold the cellophane to my hands and layer them, but couldn't get a heat gun in time. Instead, they're attached via tape to my ILY fingers.
I would like to update the hand blasts and belts, and perhaps play with the cellophane to see if it would work for my face as well, just to be uniformed. We shall see.

No. 27 - 2019
Character: Aizawa Shouta (Genderbent) Series: My Hero Academia by Horikoshi Kouhei
Cosplayer Credits: - Ms. Joke : My husband
Photog Credits: - Not sure about the last one, but otherwise, just friends.
==========
This is my first genderbent costume! I always loved Aizawa, but when Ms. Joke was introduced, my now-husband and I immediately agreed that they were the two of us, but personality swapped. I'm not sure who suggested we do the genderbent versions, but I'm thrilled with how they came out!
==========
I didn't do too much for my Aizawa, actually... I kinda half-assed it, really. I bought a jump suit off Amazon, and used boots and a wig I already had. I made a belt with the weird "pouch" things he has?? Honestly, I would use real pouches next time, which I have now. I used thin furniture foam to make my scarf. It's just safety pinned in place. I would also love to make or buy his goggles for next time too!
For Mr. Joke though...! I used the CUT//Sew Ouji-sama pattern to make his shorts (which I extended into pants) from scratch; painted the fabric ahead of time with masking tape to guide me. For a guy, I feel like this style suited him more! I used the same masking technique on the gloves (base bought from We Love Colors) and I used a thicker furniture foam covered in thin EVA foam sheet for the bracers. I love, love, LOVE them, though they did come apart a little toward the end. Just needed more glue, since I rushed to finish for the con.
The "corset" (I've been calling it a cummerbund 😂) is mostly EVA as well. The smileys are separate EVA and the white belt is also layered, separate EVA. That said, the velcro came off pretty quickly. I have a new idea for how to affix it, but alas, live and learn. The little cloth bit is just glued in place.
Lastly, and most amusingly to me, his beard! I actually DON'T like how he looks without his beard (too baby-faced 😂) so I bought some chalk dye pens and just colored it in! His wig was bought off Amazon. His bandana is just the fabric as the pants sewn in a square. He wore plain black boots with it.

Character: Hatori Chise Series: The Ancient Magus' Bride by Yamazaki Kore
Cosplayer Credits: - Elias: Unknown! :(
Photog Credits: - Gabriel (All Fired Up Cosplay) - Randy - Nate Takes Photography
==========
I have also done the version of Chise with her hair down, rather than up. I really like how versatile her character design is. She's a very admirable character even if her role is a bit strange!
==========
Pretty much everything was bought either off of Amazon or at a thrift store. Her wig was an eBay find that I straighten and trimmed up a bit. Her necklace I got off of Etsy from CatorikisCrafts (it glows in the dark), and her ring I actually got from a beach shop (it's made of shells).
I'm also made her staff too. The head piece is a 3D-print bought off of Etsy from FranklinPrints, the eyes are those fake gems from a local craft store set with hot glue, and the hilt is a dowel rod from Home Depot sanded from the bottom up to give it a bit of a angular feel. I hand-painted everything to give a uniformed look.

No. 25 - 2018
Character: Yang Xiao Long (Vol. 4 ver) Series: RWBY by Rooster Teeth
Photog Credits: - J Rae Photography
==========
I've always liked Yang and thought she was the coolest (though Blake's color scheme is more my style). I had been meaning to do a Yang costume for a while and as I've gotten older, with a great deal more things that occupy my time, efforts, and especially my money, it seemed my original plan was not going to happen. Then I saw Vol 4! I've always wanted to dabble in prosthetics like this so why not challenge myself a little? I've never made foam armor before, so making her mechanical arm was an interesting endeavor.
==========
The wig is from Epic Cosplay, the shirt and shoes are from Amazon, and the pants are from WalMart. Patches were acquired off of Etsy sellers BlueRockAngelDesigns & BrookeIsABee.
For the arm, I bought extra-long "opera" gloves off Amazon and black & yellow 1/16 of an inch foam "paper." I made several regular paper patterns for my robot pieces before being happy enough to cut them out of the foam. Then I used Elmer's white school glue to seal the foam, and after 24 hrs curing, spray painted the pieces a "Canary Yellow." I waited another 24 hrs to allow for curing and then touched up and painted black additional areas.
To attach, I used hot glue on the finger bits, black poly-cotton fabric and Velcro for the bracer, and completed the band for the upper arm with the poly-cotton, but keep it in place with more Velcro.
I hope to actually make her jacket, because if I couldn't make what I had in mind before, I might as well make something! Haha...

Character: Squid Kid Series: Splatoon by Nintendo

==========
Just a fun casual costume I threw together and my now-husband had also decided to join me! As purple is my favorite color, it was easy to throw this together from my workout clothes. I did buy the official guns but I painted the tanks to match our color choices and dyed the accompanying slime. 😂 It'd be great to get a whole group of squid kids to represent all the colors, one day! 😃

==========
I originally borrowed this costume in 2017 from my friend (who is Louise) but loved being Tina so much I bought my own set! Of course, I managed to convince my now-husband to be Jimmy Jr. This costume is always a lot of fun to do! It's comfy and getting to hang with friends is always the best! 😊
Sorry about the masks, maybe next time we'll take some proper photos! ❤️
==========
Mostly thrifted, I painted the red stripe on my socks and painted my used, old purple high-tops black. In my backpack, I also have a composition notebook labeled "Erotic Friend Fiction" because I have to!

No. 22 - 2016
Character: Judy Hopps (Officer ver.) Series: Zootopia by Disney
Cosplayer Credits: - Nick: My husband - Chief Bogo: Chris
Photog Credits: - Badger Studios - J Rae Photography
==========
We are officially in the ~modern~ era of my cosplaying. 🤣 Modern era includes being too busy and stressed to 100% make things and worry over things not being 100% accurate.
I always have so much fun as Judy. I usually have some Junior Detective stickers on me too, so if I bring her back, be sure to say hi!
==========
Uneven Pictures helped me make the Kevlar vest out of Eva foam; I covered it in black lining fabric and made/added the buckles. Uneven also completely crafted the knee pads (in again Eva); I only added the elastic bands.
Again, the wig is a custom dye job; just took any old silver wig off eBay and used Katie Bair Wig Dye to darken it to match my ears and tail, which were purchased from Udslife and trimmed to my liking.
The bracers are also made out of foam sheets; the thinner kind you buy at a craft store, and covered in the liner as well. The silver bits are spray painted foam and hot glued in place. They are held to my arm with Velcro.
Everything else is just bought/modified slightly. I'd love to acquire her safety vest and make her stun gun for future appearances.
(I also pieced together the officer version of Nick for my now-husband, and even did one for our friend Chris to be Bogo (I only really helped a bit with his ears and tail). MOST of it was definitely bought.)

Character: Judy Hopps (Farmer ver.) Series: Zootopia by Disney
Cosplayer Credits: - Nick: My husband - Gazelle: Andrea - TV Anchor (AUS): Randy
Photog Credits: - Badger Studios
==========
Judy was the first time in nearly 3 years I got the strong urge to pull together a costume. Of course, I begged my now-husband to be my Nick and he agreed. My friends and I used to throw a tea party in the park every year and that year, they also decided to be Zootopia characters! It was a lot of fun. This is up there with Erza for one of my most favorite costumes. ☺️
==========
For her farmer version, I bought pretty much all of it, but I did custom dye my wig to match my ears using Katie Bear's wig dye. And I trimmed the fur of ears to be a little more composed. Haha!
I also bought all of my husband's Nick stuff. 😉

Character: Lee Kanker Series: Ed, Edd, & Eddy by Danny Antonucci
==========
This was actually the first couples cosplay I did with my now-husband, but we ended up not taking any pictures ourselves! (He was Eddy, of course.) I still have these costumes so maybe one day I'll convince him to put it on again, at least for a few photos. 😂
==========
This was a really simple but super comfy and fun cosplay. Mostly closet: jeans, shoes and shirt were bought; shirt painted with fabric paint; belt bought off of Amazon; wig was an off-brand Chucky wig off of eBay styled with bobby pins; earrings are pirate-based clip-ons from Party City (I don't have pierced ears).

No. 19 - 2013
Character: Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear Series: Tales of the Abyss by Bandai-Namco
Cosplayer Credits: - Luke : My brother
==========
This is another costume done mostly for my brother (I also made his Luke fon Fabre pictured here). I was supposed to wear this costume to ShadoCon in 2012, but my dad died and I put a lot of stuff on hold. I ended up debuting it the following year at MetroCon. First and last time I ever con-crunched. 😂
==========
I used my Belgium wig for this costume, (but I did get a new one at some point) and made her headband in the same way I make Belgium's as well (cardboard, craft wire, fabric, fabric glue, staples, and hairpins).
Her under shirt is a modified pattern of Simplicity's 4059. The top dress is a VERY heavily modified pattern of Simplicity's 4014; I used two different fabrics for each section needed and added the button-down section in the front that loops around separately with a handmade pattern. It is a very complicated procedure that I really wouldn't recommend to anyone prone to ripping their hair out. Those front buttons do nothing to keep the dress closed, by the way--that's a job for the hooks and eyes I sewed in.
Ruffles for both the neck and shoulders were sewn separate and then on the pieces they are attached to. Front buttons were sewn into front piece before front piece was stitched into place on the top dress. All trim happened before final stitch as well. Those circle bits on the front piece... I used appliqué and made a circular pillow onto the piece, hemmed as slowly and neatly as I could, used a white pencil to mark the center hole, hemmed it ahead of time and cut it out.
The gloves and brown tights were bought, not made. Gloves from Gloves Online Inc. on Amazon; tights from We Love Colors. The cravat is actually just one, rectangular piece of hemmed fabric. I wanted it to be wispy and flowy and I didn't want to make something that would be stressful and complicated to put on. So it is one piece that I tie like a necktie only I don't pull it through, I let it hang freely and it works very well.
The thigh/boot covers were made with a handmade pattern as well. I put my leg on the fabric, out lined my leg with several inches of space (especially around the thigh area), cut and sewed to fit. For the bottom area that wraps around the foot... I made the back heel portion look like a Ո, but had the bottoms curve into to touch, and I made the front flare out a bit. The back piece has the trim and Velcro is installed on the little leg bits that attach under the arch of the boot. Brown fabric was added at the top.
The bow is her Elfin Bow and was made by my brother!
I don't remember too much about what I did for my brother here, to be honest. I don't even have many WIP pics of his coat (the thing I mostly made). I know it was mostly white broadcloth. The demon motif was black broadcloth and applique. The bias was gold poly-cotton leftover from Natsu. We used a regular T-shirt and cut to shape. He bought the pants and I just added a bit of the gold to the "pockets." I think the wig was from Arda? I know we got a different one at first, but that didn't work out the way we wanted. I really don't remember. He made his own Key of Lorelei though!
==========

Luke: IDK, Probably the same-ish.
