So many good points.
You're absolutely right when it comes to the fact that the average church is filled with folks who feel obliged to be there and is rampant with mediocrity.
Thankfully this church has a wonderful pastor who has a heart for the church being what its called to be. He's only been at this church for 6 months so many of the long time members seem set in their ways. I think he's trying to gradually increase the challenges he gives them in his sermons.
I was hoping the Bible study could be my way to reach out and make connections but it doesn't seem like its going to work. I spend most of my time focused on keeping my little one quiet and do not learn much. I was really hoping to build some friendships through this group and outside of my friend who also has a 1 year old I haven't made much progress.
I don't think this is a church membership deal breaker but its one of those things that leaves me going "now what?"
I so long for a challenge and discussion with believers.
So I'm trying to process something and don't know how to feel about it.
The church we are currently visiting (and are highly considering joining) has a women's Bible study midmorning on Wednesdays. Another young mother and I have tried to go regularly and get to know the women of the church.
The majority (like 95%) of the group are retirees. They are polite and cordial but definitely from a different time. It seems to bother them that we have our 1 year olds with us, but due to their politeness they won't outright say it. I think they expect us to keep them completely silent the entire hour and a half. They say they'd love to help but never offer, and today my little one got loud and the teacher asked me to take her out as she "could not hear herself think" from the noise. I was already gathering her up to walk out before she made that comment.
These same ladies wonder why their church is lacking young couples. I desperately want to be surrounded by women that would fulfill the Titus 2 call of mentorship, not those who swoon when a toddler hollers. That seems so hard to find these days.
Am I crazy for being annoyed/upset with them? It makes me not want to go to their study. It doesn't feel worth it.

paul really hit the mark when he said "take all thoughts captive and obedient to Christ." negative thoughts are so pervasive and constant that you honestly need to speak God's Word over every single one of them.
the prince of lies has no hold over you anymore.

Peanut is turning one soon so I made her a birthday crown!
This was my first project I've completely hand-sewn! I learned a few lessons but thoroughly enjoyed the project as a whole. I think it turned out cute.

Its economically viable for many people still, they just fail to realize it or don't want to put in the work. Frugality, thifty-ness, and creativity are traits that benefit the stay at home mom.
I cook most of our food from scratch to save money. I budget and meal plan. I thrift most of our clothes. I make my own cleaners. I will be growing food in a garden this year.
We choose to live a simple life so that we can benefit from me staying home with the children.
Its all about your perspective, priorities, and what you define as success. Do you care what others think? Or do you value your work in your home?
I'm not going to ramble about the societal causes and impact on being a SAHM. That can of worms can remain closed.
MAKE 👏 STAY-AT-HOME 👏 MOM 👏 A 👏 SOCIALLY 👏 ACCEPTABLE 👏 AND 👏 ECONOMICALLY 👏 VIABLE 👏 JOB 👏 AGAIN

Hey y’all, if you’re in the path of this storm, and ESPECIALLY if you live in an area like I do where your infrastructure isn’t prepared for snow and ice (Texas STILL isn’t ready), do a quick inventory of your supplies.
- Do you have a way to keep warm if the power goes out? (Warm clothes, hats, gloves, blankets. Bonus if you have a small pop-up tent that fits in your living room)
- Do you have at least a week’s worth of food that can be prepared without power, or a way to cook without power?
- If you have a generator, does it have fuel? Have you run it lately to make sure it works?
- Do you have enough water for at least a few days? Do you have a way to purify water from melted snow/ice? (Especially if power is out)
No, you don’t want to be the person who cleans out the grocery store in a panic. But you CAN do a few things to be more prepared.
If you have the things on the list above because you’ve been paying attention and preparing for disasters, you can avoid stores that may be crowded and hectic right now, especially in the places that the storm will hit tomorrow.
If you have most of the things on the list, the time to pick up just the bare necessities was yesterday. Don’t try to build up a month’s supply of anything right now. Focus on a week’s worth.
If you don’t have any supplies, prioritize:
- 1 gallon jug of water per family member (you can also choose to clean your bathtub well and then fill it all the way full)
- 1 good warm coat and hat per family member
- Ready to eat, shelf stable foods (like granola bars) that don’t require cooking
Also, drip your faucets and take any other steps needed to protect yourself from burst pipes.

I work with 15 year old girls who are so brainwashed by their pimps. They will try to run away from a safe place to get back to this man. They have stop orders on them if they run so we have to restrain them from going back to a life of abuse. They have specific lists of who they can call and I have to listen to their intimate conversations with mom, grandma.
Sometimes we fail. And she gets away. And we never see her again.
These same girls have their pimp aggressively looking for them. To him, she is no different than a 20 year old other than the fact she can make him much more money. To him, she is property. He calls the house to find her. He goes to family members houses posing as a social worker. He waits outside the facility in case she runs. We are to call the police when we see them. Cops show up, this man walks free. Despite being a known child trafficker with tattoos of his name on a 14 year olds body.
So when I hear you defend prostitution, this is what I hear you defending. These pimps are not anomalies and they do not solely prey upon children. They are the ones managing the women who you so strongly defend the right to abuse.
If you defend prostitution or purchase women’s bodies, you are defending child trafficking and unimaginable suffering.
