the fucking pickle is that its done but not great, and not in the "no creator is ever fully pleased and at some point you have to let go" way, bc im not and never have been a perfectionist with writing and have no issue letting go when I know its not its best. this is just not there yet, it requires revisions and additions and connective tissue and overall backbone. the concept itself is unconvincing and its very clear to me when I read it over, I for the most part can see what would make it better and sharpen it all more into focus and show rather tell, but oh MYY god I just cant make myself do it. as it is it took me years to pick this back up and push myself to get back into it and write the goddamn thing, and now I just lack the drive and dedication and fandomy kick in the ass that would motivate me through the harsher editing process. so im stuck between wanting to just post it bc its definitely (imo) good enough and let it stand as is, consciously owning that its not its best, or I can wait until I have it in me to make some tweaks and have it still not be great but at least better. im just nervous that ill be waiting and waiting and waitingggggg and I have waited ENOUGH I started this fic IN 2022

hi i'm not sure if you can help me, but i remember reading a fic a long while ago that i cannot seem to find. laurent had to go to Akielos (i can't remember if it's to be married to damen or if it's just a show of goodwill that vere won't attack while laurent is there), but once there, laurent pretends not to know akielon for a while

laurent isn't invited to any council meetings and later when asking about it, damen's like "how were you supposed to sit in on meetings when you didnt know the language?"

it is 100% possible that i could just be thinking of a fic from another fandom, but for some reason i just vividly remember laurent being like oops when he realizes he could have been sitting in on meetings if he had been truthful
