Iconoclasts is a gem. I played it while working on the final touches of The Glitch Fairy, and it inspired me to look over the game's dialogue again and rework a lot of stuff.

Make sure to play it if you like metroidvanias and great writing.

pardon the intrusion, but i saw your fanworks have a very similar pallete to the ingame sprites, did you happen to colorpick or do you have any idea of the games full palette?

asking cuz im working on a fansprite and can't pick any good skintones from the main cast :-p

No worries! I use a mix of colorpicking (from both official art and sprites) and my own colors, especially for skin tones.

Konjak uses a custom palette as a basis for all of his projects that he's been tweaking over the years, but AFAIK uses some of his own colors as well, so it's probably fine to mix your own if you're really unsatisfied. He's posted it a handful of times, but this is the clearest image of it.

If you're specifically looking for darker skintones, I recommend looking at some of the NPCs which have a broader range. Samba, Myron, and Gustavo are good examples. I think most unnamed NPCs also use very similar skin tone palettes, but you can use Delutto's Iconoclasts DAT Tool to rip the game's graphics if you own Iconoclasts on PC.

As a bonus, here's a reference I made a while back of every Transcendent's skin and hair tones. (This is scaled up to x3.)

currently working on a sprite for silver, in doing so I've noticed the differences between earlier in game sprites and the later ones! i love agent grey and teegans big as heads :-) ofc they make for much more expressive faces, I really enjoy how you can tell grey is smiling with naught but two pixels!

im trying to design silver in her youth but I'm wondering if the cat ears are once concern related (cat theming as mother likes cats) or if she's like an anime catgirl who was bullied until she became powerful

silver snippets!

some notes on silver (the rest of her is up in the air hehe)

+ shes from a fishing settlement (river?)

+ while being on the cusp of agent vs transcendent status (only lost limbs and SEEMINGLY no mental effect) she was treated as a transcendent as there was a looooong dry spell of new agents/transcendents (not to mention the very long process of getting results hehe)

+her job at the concern is not really more than a bureaucrat after being booted from the face of ascension. This is due to her development of sleep issues (she had them but they "didn't get in the way" at the time) causing her to be infantalized by the higher-ups. She's the main link of information from city one to concern headquarters.

+his job is excessively simple so she sticks her nose into other workings of the concern, thinking that she can manage it better

+ generally her behavior (especially not taking her ACTUAL job seriously) would probably result in some major punishment, but due to her ability to generate electricity even in a small form is seen as very dangerous. The concern let's her do what she wants as a way to keep her loyal.

+she has a HUGE head about her meddling especially because nobody is allowed to correct her. In efficiency regarding shifts she's probably correct, no so much with organizing vats of chemicals.

+very divisive reputation among chemists and others at the concern... she does go to every birthday party and give swanky gifts. She believes everybody likes her or just "hasn't come around yet"

+very poor memory even of recent years, has a wall in her room dedicated to keeping information alive but it's all irrelevant shit like who is dating who and who died.

+not invited to live on the moon with mother

+previously friends with grey and would like third wheel a lot. Black hates his ass a LOT but will listen to him sometimes? Doesn't understand why

+black views silver as having an easier life/suffering less because of her privileges, interprets his random passing out and then sleep paralysis as "being quirky" because she believes he is made in a lab to be obnoxious to her

+silver watchman is older than her and has a more active job so Agent Silver is fucking pissed.

+on bad days she watches the security cameras and makes up dramatic stories to the footage
