Rating: Explicit 🔞 minors dni
Word count: 2.4k
Summary: Felix spends the night with the detective after her welcome home party at the end of book 3
A/N: This is purely self indulgent as I haven’t been able to stop thinking about Felix after going through his route for the first time, and I honestly feel that F doesn’t get anywhere near enough attention! So here, have some smut, sandwiched between fluff, with a tiny bit of angst.

For @hotwayhavensummer Day 6 - Worship
A/N: This follows on from my fic Dreams, but can be read on its own. I've had a couple of lines for this fic in my drafts for weeks, but I've been really struggling to find time to write. I was determined to get it finished in time, so quickly wrote it over the past couple of days, apologies if it's a little messy.

Kira kicks her bedroom door shut as she and Nate enter, then she pins him against the wall. She presses her lips hard against his, slipping her tongue into his mouth. Her hands scramble to his shirt, making quick work of his buttons, then they're on his chest, stroking his toned muscles before following the light trail of hair down to his waistband. She's fumbling to undo the button on his jeans when his warm hands wrap around hers—putting a stop to her motion.
"Kira..."
She looks up at him and takes a small step back, withdrawing her hands. "Sorry," she mumbles.
"You have nothing to be sorry for," he assures her. "I just don't want to rush this. We've waited so long and I want to enjoy every second," he says smiling warmly at her.
"You're right, sorry."
"Stop apologising," he chuckles.
She smiles back at him as she fights against saying the word again, then she looks down at the ground, suddenly not knowing where to look or what to do.
"Are you nervous?" he asks.
"A little," she replies, continuing to look down.
"You really don't have to be Kira. It's just you, and me."
It's easy for him to that, but she's suddenly become acutely aware that she's about to have sex with a 330 year old vampire. He must have so much more experience than she has. What if after all the build up she ends up being a disappointment?
But then she glances up at him and he's looking her in that way again. That look so full of awe and desire, and that word they haven't said yet—the one she's certain they both feel.
No one has ever made her feel as wanted as Nate does.
She swallows hard as she takes a step closer. He raises a hand to her cheek, gently drawing it down and cupping her chin.
Her heart thunders in anticipation, then he brings his lips to hers for a kiss that is slow and deep and leaves her feeling breathless.
Her hands slide into his hair as he brings his lips down to her neck. He gently nips and sucks as his fingers find their way under her pyjama top and steadily up her back, then in one fluid motion her top is over her head and on the floor, revealing her pert breasts.
His hands glide down her front sending a shiver through her as they graze over her peaked nipples. They continue their journey down, clinging to the band of her silky shorts on the way and allowing them to drop around her ankles.
He swoops her up in his strong arms and places her delicately on the bed. She feels a little self conscious at first, being fully exposed like this, but that feeling soon disappears as his eyes roam her body, gazing at her in wonder.
"You're exquisite."
She smiles at him and she can feel the blush on her cheeks.
He stays where he is, slowly peeling his own clothes off until every inch of him is bare. And she can't stop staring—he's more magnificent than she imagined, and she's imagined him like this a lot. He's so toned and sculpted and gorgeous. What her eyes settle on next proves that he's very happy with what he sees as well.
He moves to lie next to her on the bed, pressing his lips to her ear. "I want to take my time getting to know every inch of you Kira."
She lets out a noise that's a mix between a sigh and moan, and a small smirk appears across his handsome features.
He kisses her softly on the mouth, before making a slow descent.
He starts at her neck, peppering kisses behind her ear, then down to her collar bone. He continues to her breasts, taking one hardened nipple into his mouth, sucking and swirling his tongue as he rolls the other between his thumb and forefinger.
Gradually his lips make their way down her stomach and she parts her legs in preparation for him. He nibbles the inside of each thigh before settling in the centre, and when his mouth touches her...it's electrifying.
The sucks and flicks of his tongue are delivered with an expert precision she never even knew were possible. She guesses that's what over 300 years of experience gets you, but she pushes the thoughts of his past lovers out of her mind. She knows she's the only being in the world that he wants to be doing this with now, and that thought makes her feel euphoric.
She starts to gently thrust her hips as she feels the pleasure building. He understands instantly and moves his hand between her legs, gently sliding in a long finger, then adding another. The combination of the sensations has her moaning loudly within seconds—her entire body tingles as she pulses against his mouth.
After a moment, he decreases the pressure of his tongue as her sensitivity rockets, and then he remains there gently licking as she comes down from the highest high she's ever had.
She lets out one last long sigh, then opens her eyes to look down at him. His eyes meet hers and he smiles at her.
"You're very good at that," she says, her breathing still erratic.
His smile gets broader and a slight blush reaches his cheeks. "I'm glad you enjoyed it."
He slowly moves up the bed, placing soft kisses on various body parts as he goes. When they're finally eye to eye again he captures her lips in another kiss that leaves her head spinning.
She reaches down between his legs, wrapping her fingers around him before beginning to pump him up and down, but he places his hand on hers.
"Don't worry about me," he whispers. "I want tonight to be about you."
"I want it to be good for you too," she responds, her hand still wrapped around him.
"It will be. Believe me, nothing will make me feel better than bringing you pleasure."
"You already have once," she smirks.
"And I wish to do it again," he replies, "tell me how you want me Kira."
Her heart beats faster and the ache grows between her legs as she quickly weighs up the options, then she pulls him on top of her. "Like this."
He gives a small nod in agreement and lines himself up.
They both let out little moans as he pushes into her, then he stills and they stay like that for a moment. Faces close, staring into each others eyes.
She's never felt so full or so complete. As she savours that moment of them finally being connected, she's almost overwhelmed with her feelings for him. He's perfect. Whether he's using his words, or now his body, no-one has ever been able to make her feel this good.
They stay close as he begins to steadily thrust into her and she wraps her legs around his back, pulling him in deeper. He picks up the pace as they find their rhythm and he hits the right spot, over and over again, until her whole body is trembling with the force of her second orgasm. He keeps thrusting as she rides it out, then follows her shortly after with his own climax.
He collapses onto the bed and pulls her in close. She rests her head on his chest as they lie in silence for several minutes.
"You're truly incredible Kira."
"You're the incredible one," she replies.
"It sounds like we both enjoyed ourselves," he chuckles. "Was it worth the wait?"
She props herself up onto her elbows. "It was always going to be worth the wait. I can't believe how lucky I am to have met you."
He moves a sweaty hair off her face, tucking it behind her ear. "I never thought I would ever meet someone that could make me feel this way. I'm definitely the lucky one, lucky that you chose me."
"It could never be anyone else Nate. Only you."
She rests her head back on his chest, melting into his embrace.
---
The next morning she's still in a sleepy daze when she thinks for a moment that the night before was all a dream. But then she rolls over to find Nate still in her bed, still naked and she sighs in a happy relief.
He rolls over to face her and his whole body seems to light up. "Good morning."
"Good morning," she replies. "You're still here?"
"Did you think I wouldn't be?" he asks with a look of confusion.
"Well I know you don't really sleep, so...were you not bored?"
"I could never be bored lying next to you. Besides there is no way I wouldn't be here waiting for you after what we shared last night."
She smiles at him happily. "You normally work through the night don't you?" Then she's hit with a sudden realisation. "Oh god, the others, they're going to know what we did last night aren't they?"
He chuckles at the shock on her face. "It's very likely."
"Oh no," she brings her hand to her mouth, "and Felix and Mason are going to tease us as well aren't they?"
"Again it's very likely," he states. "I can go ahead and tell them to keep quiet if you wish. I don't want them to make you feel uncomfortable."
"No it's okay. I'm part of the family now, I can handle them. Could we stay here a little longer though? I don't want to face them just yet."
"Of course," he replies.
She snuggles into him feeling the most content she ever has.

Fandom/Pairing: The Wayhaven Chronicles/Nate Sewell x f!detective (Kira Langford) feat. Mason
Summary: Not taking the next step in her relationship with Nate is bothering the detective more than she realises. Set after book 3 demos.
Word Count: 2.5k
Rating: Mature (some swearing and sexual content)
A/N: Apparently sexual frustration is the first thing that comes to mind when I write about my detective and Nate 🤭 It may not be an issue after this one though 😏 This has taken me so long to write, I hope it's turned out okay. There may be a part 2 to this one at some point.

Lying on the bed—completely naked—she watches him intently, her eyes wandering over every inch of him as he disregards the last of his clothes.
She swallows hard at the sight, still in disbelief that this moment is finally happening.
As he climbs onto the bed next to her she sucks in a deep breath—every part of her tingling and aching to be touched by him.
"Beautiful," he states as his eyes roam her body, before cupping her cheek with his hand.
The anticipation is too much—she can't wait any longer. Her lips crash into his and she wraps her fingers around the back of his neck, pulling him in close.
He moves his body over hers and she stares into his eyes for a moment before they continue. Those beautiful grey(?!) eyes.
Beep Beep Beep.
She flings her arm out to turn off the alarm and sits up quickly.
Her eyes dart around the room as though she's certain someone must be there, watching, knowing all about the dream she'd just had.
There's no one there of course, that would be weird—not to mention creepy.
She lets out a long breath as she calms herself, but she can't shift the niggling feeling of guilt.
Why the hell was she having a dream like that about Mason? Nate was the only man—well vampire—for her. He was sweet and kind and perfect, and Mason was...the complete opposite.
It was just a stupid dream, she tells herself, just stop thinking about it. No one ever has to know it even happened.
But that's easier said than done when you live with a bunch of vampires.
After getting dressed Kira makes her way to the kitchen for some breakfast.
The civilised atmosphere Nate had tried to maintain is long gone now that she's been there for several weeks, and Felix and Mason sit gulping down their blood pouches, definitely not caring what it looks like or who's watching.
She looks at them in turn and as soon as her eyes land on Mason the dream is at the forefront of her mind again.
She immediately feels awkward. Her heart rate increases and a blush creeps up her neck. Mason's eyes meet hers and he instantly frowns before breaking into a smirk.
She averts her eyes as quickly as possible, but she knows her reaction didn't go unnoticed.
Just then she notices that Nate is laying out breakfast for her, that was one thing that hadn't changed in these weeks—he always took such good care of her. He was the perfect host, the perfect boyfriend, perfect everything.
There was that guilt again.
"Good morning," he says greeting her with a warm smile that still makes her go weak at the knees.
"Morning," she replies and he leans in to kiss her.
As he steps back she glances across at Mason who is watching her, intrigue written all over his face.
She suddenly doesn't feel like sticking around.
"I've got loads of paperwork to catch up with at the station, so I can't stop this morning I'm afraid." She grabs some fruit and pastries.
"Okay, not a problem," Nate replies. "I'll walk you to your car."
"Or maybe I can?" Mason smirks, causing Nate to frown at him.
Ideally she'd like distance from all of the vampires right now, but she really doesn't want the situation to become any more awkward than it already is. "Okay, thank you," she replies threading her fingers through Nate's and hurrying out the door.
Luckily there's enough to deal with at the station that her dream gets pushed to the back of her mind, and it's late when she eventually returns to the warehouse.
She makes her way to the living room where she finds Nate and Mason.
Mason watches her as she enters, almost as though he's waiting to see if she reacts to him again, which instantly causes her to feel embarrassed and awkward.
"I'm just going to get something to eat," she mumbles as she turns back around and makes her way out of the room—before Nate has even had a chance to greet her.
She's not even hungry as she starts to absent mindedly open the fridge and cupboards. This was getting ridiculous. It was a silly dream that meant nothing, but she had never felt so vulnerable around the vampires, especially as Mason had seemingly picked up on something so quickly.
She's soon interrupted from her thoughts by a voice coming from behind her.
"What's the matter with you?"
She turns to find Mason casually leaning against the wall near the door, an unlit cigarette pinched between his fingers.
"What do you mean? Nothing's the matter with me." The heat creeping up her face says otherwise.
"There's definitely something going on. Apart from the obvious blush every time you look at me, your heart rate increases so much it's almost defening."
"I honestly don't know what you're talking about."
She makes her way towards the door, desperately trying to escape the utter embarrassment of this moment or hoping that maybe the ground will open up and swallow her on the way.
"Thinking you chose the wrong vampire?" he teases moving in front of her to lean on the doorframe.
"Absolutely not," she replies, insulted just by the suggestion. "Mason, please can you just let it go."
"I'd love to, but he'll notice. That's if he hasn't already."
She knows he's right and she lets out a long sigh. "It's really embarrassing, and I don't want Nate to find out about it."
"Maybe telling me will help, and I'm far too intrigued to let this go. Especially when I know it's got something to do with me," he smirks again.
She rolls her eyes at him and shakes her head. "I had a dream last night..."
"That you were in bed with me?"
"What?! Why would you just jump to that conclusion. Are you really that full of yourself?"
"But I'm right though?"
"Well yes, I mean, no. I don't know. You know what dreams are like—vampires dream right? Well I know you don't sleep much, but...anyway that's beside the point," she says trying to get herself back on track. "In dreams, sometimes things are a little fuzzy—people don't always look like they do in real life."
"How do you know it was me then?"
"Because the person I was...with had grey eyes."
"It wasn't me," he states confidently.
"And how would you know that exactly?" she asks with a furrowed brow.
"Because even dream me would've been the best you've ever had. You'd definitely remember."
She can't stop herself from letting out a laugh. "You really are sure of yourself aren't you."
He shrugs. "Just stating a fact," he replies with a hint of smugness.
"Well luckily my alarm woke me up before things really got started."
"If that's the case, then why are you being all weird about it?"
"Because I feel guilty. Nate is the only person I look at like that and I don't want to be having dreams involving someone else."
He seems to ponder for a moment as he takes a seat at the table and lights his cigarette. She seats herself at the opposite end of the table, still very much not a fan of his heavy smoking.
He catches her glancing at the glowing stick between his fingers and takes one long drag before stubbing it out in an ashtray placed at the centre of the table.
She doesn't say anything, but gives him a small smile in thanks.
"You know what I think the problem is? Nate isn't satisfying you. So dream you is looking elsewhere, because let's face it, real you is too much of a goody two shoes."
"That's not the case at all," she frowns. "Nate and I haven't even...we haven't..."
He watches in amusement for a moment as she struggles to think of how to word it, then finally puts her out of her misery. "You haven't screwed," he states bluntly. "Oh yes, we're all fully aware of that."
She tuts as she turns bright red. "Well that's just great. Thanks."
He grins at her awkwardness as she tries to compose herself.
"Has he always been like this?" she asks.
"Like what? Slow as fuck to get to the good stuff?"
She struggles to contain a laugh at Mason's crassness. "Not exactly how I would put it, but yes."
"Always. Although he does seem to be extra slow with you."
She feels her face fall.
"I'd take that as a compliment. The thing with Nate is that he'll want it to be all perfect and romantic and shit..." his faces scrunches up in disgust at the thought of all that effort. "...but he's immortal—he has time to wait, whereas you are literally decaying by the minute."
"Nice," she rolls her eyes at him, while trying to suppress a smile.
"Again, I'm just stating a fact."
She can't help but grin at him.
"If you want to do it, just tell him. I very much doubt he'll say no."
"That's not very romantic though is it?"
"Who cares about it being romantic? You're just satisfying a need. Romance wastes too much time, time that could be spent having fun."
"Well I happen to enjoy a bit of romance," she defends.
"More fool you," he smiles. "Seriously though, just talk to him before he starts to think something's wrong."
She gives him a nod. "Okay, I will."
She walks over to the door, turning back before she leaves. "Thank you."
"I would say you're welcome, but I don't want you to make a habit of talking to me about this relationship crap."
"Could've fooled me," she smiles. "I think you secretly enjoy it."
"Yeah, okay," he scoffs. "Off you go," he gestures towards the door, before lighting another cigarette.
She heads back to the living room, where she finds Nate reading alone. He looks towards the door as she walks in and instantly places the book down before standing to greet her.
"Hi," he presses a kiss to her lips. "Is everything okay?"
"Yes, everything's fine."
"Are you sure? I feel like you've been acting a little strangely today. You know you can talk to me about anything don't you?" he says, taking her hand in his.
"I know. It's just that this particular thing is a little embarrassing."
"You don't need to feel embarrassed around me Kira. Please tell me what's on your mind."
"Well...you know how much I love our time together don't you, and I love how sweet and gentlemanly you are..." He looks mildly concerned about the direction of the conversation and she smiles to reassure him. "...But we've been together a while now and I've lived here for several weeks. I guess I just thought that by now we would have...taken the next step." She blushes for what feels like the hundredth time that day.
"Oh. Yes I know what you're saying. It's not that I haven't wanted to—you do know know that I want to don't you?"
"Yes, I mean, you do definitely want to?"
"Of course. Kira you are the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. The thought has definitely entered my mind on many occasions."
Her heart rate increases immediately and Nate tries to disguise a smile in response.
"I think I was waiting for a perfect moment, but the longer we wait, the more pressure I've been putting on myself to choose the right time." He pulls her in close, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I didn't mean for this much time to pass, but I'm more than happy to rectify it right now, if you'd like?"
"I don't want to ruin any plans you had," she replies, desperately trying not to jump on him right there.
He shakes his head. "I could wait for a perfect moment, make romantic plans, but in all honesty, the moment will be perfect no matter what, as long as I'm sharing it with you."
She lets out a sigh almost melting on the spot. "How are you real?"
He chuckles. "I ask myself that question about you every day."
How does almost everything that comes out of his mouth make her feel as though her heart may burst?
"Do you want to?" he whispers in her ear.
"I really really do, but I don't want it to happen just because I've said about it. That's not how I'd been imagining it."
"And how have you been imagining it?" he asks, kissing down her neck.
She closes her eyes as she enjoys the sensation. "I don't know. Just a little more spontaneous maybe."
He pulls his face back to look at her. "Okay. Now isn't the right time then, but I promise you it'll be very soon."
"I'm gonna go have a shower and probably just get into bed." It'll have to be a cold one she thinks.
"Okay, I hope you dream of me Kira," he says, kissing the back of her hand and she's almost certain that she will be.
A little while later she lies in bed tossing and turning, unable to stop thinking about him.
Her shower did nothing to extinguish the raging desire she currently has for Nate. Why the hell she didn't just drag him back to her room she'll never know. This was utter torture.
About half an hour has passed when she hears a knock on her door.
Please be Nate, please be Nate is all that's going through her mind as she scrambles out of bed.
Her prayers are answered as she opens the door to find his handsome face smiling back at her.
"Sorry Kira, I hope I didn't wake you."
"No you didn't, it's okay," she's trying to be calm and casual, but she doesn't need a vampires hyper senses to know her heart is almost bursting out of her chest. She's not fooling anyone.
"I umm," he pauses to smile, "couldn't stop thinking about you."
"Same. I mean thinking about you obviously."
He smiles broadly at her sudden nervousness.
"I know it's a little sooner than you were probably expecting, but if it's okay, I wish to spend the night with you. I don't want to wait any longer."
"Yes." She's sure it's the fastest she's ever answered a question in her life, but she doesn't care how eager it makes her seem. If she doesn't have him right now, she's certain she'll actually explode.

There was a slight awkwardness in the air as Adam, Felix and Mason sat scattered about the warehouse living room.
The detective and Nate had slipped off together as soon as they had arrived back from the facility—having reported their run in with the Trappers and the Anunnaki to the agency.
While at the facility the pair had remained professional, but the unresolved tension between them hadn't gone unnoticed by the rest of the team.
"Do you think they're still fighting?" Felix asked, breaking through the silence.
"Maybe they're having make up sex," Mason suggested through a cloud of smoke.
Felix let out a chuckle. "They haven't even had sex yet, I don't think they'd choose today for their first time."
"Why not. It's a good a time as any," Mason smirked.
"There really is no such thing as a wrong time for you is there?"
"Exactly," Mason shrugged. "I haven't come across any problem that couldn't be resolved with a good fu—"
"Enough you two," Adam snapped, stopping Mason from finishing his sentence.
His timing was impeccable as the door swung open just seconds later and Nate entered the room.
"Is everything okay?" Adam asked.
"Yes, everything is fine. Kira has gone to bed, she was tired after everything that happened today."
Adam gave a nod.
"You made up before she went to bed though right?" Felix asked with genuine concern.
"I told you, everything is fine...she's just tired."
Mason scoffed and shook his head from his darkened corner of the room.
"Is there something you wanted to say Mason?" Nate asked, his eyes darting over to him.
"I'm just not sure worrying about your lovers tiff is the best use of our time right now," he replied as he stubbed out his cigarette.
"It wasn't a lovers tiff, she put herself in danger and she could have been hurt out there today."
"I know, she made a stupid decision and that decision caused you to do something you wouldn't normally do. I saw how violent you were with those trappers. I know you were worried for her, but what would you have done with what we faced after the trappers?"
"If Kira's safety is at risk I will do my very best to protect her. What do you expect me to do, just let her be taken?"
"That's not what I'm saying, but you need to be careful you don't go getting yourself killed in the process," Mason warned.
"Give him a break Mason. He's in love with her, right Natey?" Felix asked, turning to face him.
Nate looked at his friend, hesitating for a moment. "That is not something Kira and I have discussed, so I won't be discussing it with you."
"Oh come on, we're family..."
"Mason makes a good point," Adam stated, seemingly ignoring the subject Felix had brought up. "We need to work with the agency to come up with a plan on how to deal with the threat of the Anunnaki. It is far more than we can deal with alone, but we should have a team meeting to discuss what our actions should be. We need to ensure that Detective Langford is fully on board with our plans as well."
"I can't do this right now," Nate sighed, making his way towards the door.
"I think it's important that we discuss this Nate," Adam called after him.
Nate continued to the door, swinging it open and walking out.
"Be back here in an hour," Adam said sternly as the door clicked shut.
Nate wandered through the corridors before coming to a stop outside Kira's bedroom.
He let out a long sigh as he gently placed a hand and then his forehead on her doorframe.
Felix was right. If love wasn't the word to describe the way he felt about Kira, then he didn't know what was.
He had never felt this way about anyone—human or supernatural—in three hundred and thirty years of existence.
As much as he wanted to knock on her door, he knew he really needed to give her some space.
Sometimes he forgot how difficult this must be for her—being sought-after by so many—at times she just needed to be left alone to process it.
Incidents such as today served to remind him of how terrifyingly fragile she was. And he was quickly realising that the lengths he would go to to ensure no harm came to her were equally as terrifying.
Using the level of violence he had resorted to that day definitely wasn't something he felt comfortable with.  But when Kira’s safety—her life—was on the line...what was the alternative?
Although they may not all openly admit to it, if anything were to happen to Kira, the rest of Unit Bravo would all be greatly affected by it. She'd made such a huge impact on their lives and he knew they would all protect her to the best of their ability; she was one of them now.
He had to admit that Mason and Adam were right; they needed a plan. It pained him to think of what would have happened if Kira hadn't managed to break through the Anunnaki's barrier. There was nothing any of them could have done to stop him from taking her.
Now that the team and the agency knew of the threat, she would be safe. For now.
Maybe they could even enjoy spending a bit more time with each other, especially as she was now living under the same roof as him for the foreseeable future. There were so many things he wanted to experience with her, none of which involved attempted kidnappings or arguments...
They'd be fine, he knew that, their fight wasn't going to cause long lasting issues between them. What they had was far too special to be damaged by something like that, but he hated the way their argument had made them both feel. The look on her face as he snapped at her—shock and anger—was still etched on his mind. He was so used to their interactions causing nothing but positive responses from her, it truly pained him to anger or upset her.
He didn't want to waste a single moment of their time together. He was all too aware of her limited lifespan as a human, although he tried to refrain from thinking about that too much. The thought alone caused a crushing pain in his chest.
Before their fight with the trappers he had almost found himself declaring the true depths of his feelings for her, but had thought better of it.
The last thing he wanted to do was to say it because of the stress of the situation, it had to be more special than that.
As much as he got mocked for it—particularly by Mason—he wanted every first to be special with Kira.
A part of him wanted to experience those wonderful moments with her as soon as possible, but he had lived long enough to know that they were the moments that truly made life worth living. Nothing could compare to experiencing them for the first time with someone.
If he had told her how he felt before they went to battle with the Trappers, it would have tainted the memory of a moment that should be precious and treasured.
If he were being honest with himself, it would be the first time he would be saying it and meaning it so completely and deeply. And as far as he was concerned it would also be the last.

Kira walked towards the sofa as the rest of Unit Bravo left the warehouse living room. After an intense meeting with the team, she'd decided to have a quiet few minutes before making her way back to the station and the pile of paperwork she had been putting off all week. She heard the door click shut behind her and stopped in her tracks.
She may not have special abilities like the team of vampires, but she felt as though she could sense when they were near, especially the one who had captured her heart.
She slowly turned on the spot to find that Nate had remained in the room with her. A smile lit up his face as her eyes met his.
“Is everything okay?” she asked, silently praying that he had stayed behind just to spend time with her.
Their moments together were far more brief than she would have liked. Working with the agency and still having to do her job at the station left her with little free time and Nate seemed to be constantly on the clock.
“Yes, everything is fine. I just wanted to spend a couple of minutes with you before you left.” He flashed her a warm smile, which instantly gave her butterflies.
Every time she laid eyes on him something ignited within her. He was so damn attractive, but he was also the kindest, sweetest man she had ever met.
She was so unbelievably happy that they were together, but she craved time alone with him—intimate time alone.
Nate was an old fashioned gentleman and she knew he would want things to be perfect for the occasion. A quicky in a darkened corner of the warehouse just wouldn’t cut it, not for their first time at least.
They had been together for a few months now, so she was a little frustrated that they hadn’t had that intimacy yet. But she knew Nate well enough to know he would definitely make it worth the wait.
She smiled back at him. “I wish it was more than just a couple of minutes though. We never seem to have enough time alone.”
He nodded in agreement. “I know. But I promise you, we will have some time alone soon. I’ll make sure of it.”
A rush of excitement coursed through her at the thought they may be taking their relationship to the next level soon.
She let her eyes travel to his lips before trailing down to his chest. She caught a glimpse of his bare skin, where his top couple of buttons were undone and wished that she could just rip his shirt off, exposing his flesh to her. She longed to see every inch of him.
Her eyes moved back up to his face to find him smirking at her.
“I wish I knew exactly what you were thinking right now Kira, your heart rate just increased rather rapidly.”
She frowned at him, unsure how to feel about him listening to her like that. His expression quickly changed to regret.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I just find it very hard to switch off from you. Everything about you overwhelms my senses…I sometimes forget how weird it must sound to you. I don’t want you to feel like I’m invading your privacy.” He remained where he stood, waiting for her to reply.
Hearing him talk about her like that reminded her of how unusual their relationship was. He wasn’t just a typical man, her boyfriend was a vampire. His abilities were part of who he was and there was no way she wanted him to feel like he had to hide such things from her.
“It’s okay,” she said with a smile. “I know you can’t help being able to hear me like that. To be honest, it does feel a bit weird that the others have that ability as well. But, when it comes to you, I really don’t mind it so much.”
Nate smiled at her in relief and closed the gap between them. He placed his hands on either side of her face, gently rubbing his thumbs on her cheeks. The contact instantly sent a warm tingly feeling throughout her entire body. “I think the others are probably better at muting you, so to speak. But, I find it near impossible to not be completely consumed by you.”
She stared into his eyes, heart pounding in her chest. Reaching up, she tangled her fingers into his hair and pulled his lips down to meet hers in a passionate kiss. She pressed her body hard against his as their tongues swirled together.
After a few moments, the kiss slowed to a stop and they pressed their foreheads together, both breathing heavily.
Kira lowered her hands, until they came to rest on the back of Nate’s neck. “You have no idea what you do to me Nate,” she said with a shuddery breath.
“Oh, I think I have some idea,” he replied as he inhaled deeply through his nose.
“Are you sniffing me?” she asked with a giggle.
“I was just trying to catch my breath. But I may have inhaled a little longer than necessary. Your scent is intoxicating to me at the best of times. But when you’re…excited, well it becomes indescribable. I can’t get enough of you Kira.”
He looked down at her with an expression so intense and full of desire, that it seemed almost as though she were completely bare before him.
He let his hands glide down her back before moving them back up under her shirt. Her skin prickled with goosebumps as soon as he made contact.
She slowly moved her hands down his chest, stopping at his waistband. She slid her fingers along the edge of the fabric, gently scraped his skin with her nails. His body twitched from the sensation and the fabric of his trousers became visibly more strained.
She looked back up at his face and swallowed hard. “Nate, I really want t—”
Just then the door swung open and in came Felix.
“Oh. Am I interrupting something here?” He didn’t even try to hide his amusement.
Kira’s initial reaction was to spring apart from Nate, but his hold remained on her. He clearly wasn’t ready for the moment to be over.
“Haven’t you heard of knocking Felix?” Nate asked, plainly irritated by the interruption.
“Sorry I didn’t realise you two would be…doing whatever you were doing.” His smile was infectious and Kira struggled to hold back her own smile, not wanting to annoy Nate who was still glaring at his friend.
“What was it that you were after Felix?” Nate asked bluntly. His grip on Kira loosened as he turned to face Felix.
“Adam sent me to see what was taking you so long,” he smirked.
Nate rolled his eyes. Then let out a long sigh, while pinching the bridge of his nose. “Yes because heaven forbid I should be left to say goodbye to my girlfriend, without being interrupted.”
Her heart skipped a beat on hearing him call her that. She still found it hard to believe how lucky she was to be with him.
“I don’t know why you two punish yourselves like this. You definitely need a steamy night together to break through this tension that constantly surrounds you. We’d all be ever so grateful,” Felix teased.
“Felix, don’t you think that’s a bit inappropriate. I don’t want you to make Kira feel uncomfortable.”
“Don’t worry Natey. Our lovely Kira here knows I’m just trying to wind you up.” He turned to her and gave her a wink.
She loved watching the interactions between the vampires. Even though the current subject was her sex life, or lack of, she couldnt help but smile back at Felix. She had nothing but affection for the youngest of the vampires, they had struck up quite the friendship over the past few months.
“Can you give us a minute please Felix,” Nate requested, accepting that he needed to leave and meet with the others.
“If that’s all you need, I think Kira will be left feeling a bit disappointed,” he replied, flashing a smile.
Nate raised his eyebrows at him and he made towards the door, knowing that was his final warning, though a playful smirk still remained on his lips as he exited the room.
Nate wrapped his arms back around Kira’s waist. “I’m so sorry I have to leave. I really don’t want to,” he said, placing a kiss on her forehead.
“It’s okay, I really should head back to the station anyway.” They looked into each others eyes, neither wanting to be the first to break away from the other.
“I don’t know how you do it Nate, but just a few moments with you, takes me hours to recover from,” she said with a tantalising smile.
Nate’s eyes widened. “Well imagine how you would feel after several hours alone…or a whole night.”
“I’d probably need to be hospitalised,” she chuckled, before cringing. “Oh no, that sounded so wrong.”
Nate’s deep laughter reverberated around the room. “Don’t worry Kira. I will make sure we allow plenty of time to…recover.” He kissed her softly on the lips. “I meant it when I said I wanted to know every detail of you. And I truly can’t wait.”
He stepped away from her to leave, but not before placing a gentle kiss on the back of her hand. “I’ll see you soon.”
She watched him leave the room, knowing she would be unable to think of anything but him for the rest of the day. As so often was the case.

Imposter Syndrome & Writing
Oh that pesky imposter syndrome! Many of us know her whether we like it or not. Although I don’t have as bad anxiety as others do in this regard, imposter syndrome can try to come for us all, and hits a lot of us creative types the hardest. I know some nights it hits me too, and I completely forget about all my favorite work, and fixate on my worst.
Have you heard your inner speech say any of this:
“My writing just isn’t good enough for others to enjoy”
“Why isn’t my online activity as good as others?”
“Oh they’re better than me…and younger…”
“I or my writing isn’t interesting enough”
Well I have news for you that was likely imposter syndrome speaking, or anxiety, or depression or- You get the point.
Overcoming & Lowering Writing Anxiety
Kicking imposter syndrome to the curb isn’t easy, and it isn’t really permanent either. We as humans have a hard time with comparing everything to everything, and that includes ourselves to other writers. Which is the primary problem. Here’s some popular tactics to help tackle anxiety and self doubt in writing.
What’s a real writer?
Gatekeeping is a problem among all groups of creatives. For awhile growing up I most saw it as digital artist “aren’t” the real artist. Writers struggle with gatekeeping in the community frequently too. This has become so prevalent some have taken the negative voices of gatekeeping and subconsciously ingrained it into themselves.
So let I remind you, you are a writer if you
Write
Don’t Write but want to
Are trying to write
Create stories
It doesn’t really matter what you write, you’re a writer if you have the will to be. Telling yourself and acknowledging that what you write doesn’t devolve you as a writer is a tremendous first step.
You’re not alone
As said before creatives of all types, including hundreds of writers are suffering from imposter syndrome. It’s valid to feel such a way, and acknowledging those feelings can also help. Don’t oversaturate yourself though. Even best-selling authors experience imposter syndrome, or get discourage by comparing themselves to fellow writers. You can not turn into another writer, because you will always be yourself as a writer.
What you’ve done up til now/Perfectionism
Often times in the boughs of imposter syndrome people become blind to their hard work, or begin to feel like everything they’ve done up til now is pointless. Which completely negates that others better or on their level have gone through most if not all of the same hard work.
All because we aren’t the best all the time doesn’t mean our hard work and talent is invalid. Seeking perfection is impossible. Every good artist has thousands of throw aways, deletes, messed up layers, balled up paper, and more. The same goes for writers. I even frequently post my bad, as it forces me to accept that I’ve created it and it’s a thing.
My bad doesn’t invalidate my good. Just like how you on your bad days doesn’t define your entire personality. To accept the bad in creativity is important, and I greatly suggest keeping all your ideas now matter how trash. You might find your future skills or mentality will be ready to take it all on again in the future.
One way I’ve done this, and a popular writing hack at that is to keep a writing journal and refuse to delete half-written or poorly written pieces. Editing and rewriting is okay as long as you don’t over do it, and find yourself rewriting the same thing over and over again. It will never be perfect, and accepting that is one of the most helpful things we as writers can do.
