elaborating on what i will now call the susie save your love au‼️

sort of inspired by @faunshii and their art of s1 robin bc it absolutely works w this idea! pls check them out they’re so awesome😭

but! the idea is that robin and nancy become friends in season 1, teaming up to find barb since they were both her friend. in this scenario robin basically replaces jonathan, who’s on his own hunting for will instead of teaming up with nancy. i think they collaborate sometimes but main pairing is ronance fs

this shifts their dynamic slightly! nancy isn’t stretched so thin when she meets robin and they bond over mutual worry, robin’s rambling is a comfort to nancy way sooner and she readily accepts liking robin, grateful to have a friend especially after barb is confirmed to be dead. when nancy narrowly escapes the upside down robin stays to comfort her just like jonathan did, but this time steve doesn’t assume nancy is cheating bc its the 80s and girls can’t love girls. (DISCLAIMER i dont think nancy ever cheated on steve its what he assumes)

he ends up getting tied into all of it anyways when he tries to find out what nancy is being so secretive about and why she’s talking to robin buckley of all people and its the near the same scene (why r jonathan and robin so similar hold on) and by the end of s1 robin is head over heels for nancy wheeler who hates the nuclear family and is really good with guns. nancy is also enamored with robin but it sorta terrifies her that she seems to have romantic feelings for another girl (nancy is NOT oblivious she’s just scared) so she clings onto steve and their safe relationship.

this is where susie save your love comes in. nancy is really struggling with steve, he keeps trying to get her to forget about barb, he keeps dismissing her grief, she doesn’t even see him the same anymore, or perhaps she was thinking more clearly about the way she saw him. either way, she’s struggling, and the only solace she finds is spending time with robin, who just gets it, and gets her, and ends up inviting robin to come with her hoping to some stupid halloween party to maybe unite the way she feels around robin (so happy) with these social events.

and she obviously gets fucking drunk when robin isn’t there (as far as she knows)

and THEN gets into The Fight with steve and then

Can I just say, as someone who likes Steddie, but hates the way most if not all Steddie shippers act like. I'm kinda obsessed with your "piss them off till they block you" thing. Genuinely so funny. I love it. Keep it up. Like I'm so sorry people can't even fuckin be respectful and either not tag other ships or not tag them as background. Like. Newsflash assholes (not you), not everyone wants to see the shit you write for Steddie when they look for Ronance, or Byler, or like literally any other ship. I try to tell a steddie shipper that her and all the other steddies should tag correctly their fics (aka stop tagging ronance in fics where they are only background), and that maybe, JUST maybe, they should change the tags of their current steddie fics.

And she got offended.

She didn't even responded me, but from the phrase she added in the description of her blog, I can tell she was not happy of what I told her.

And I only gave her an advice.

I was as gentle as possible, and she still got offended.

Steddie shippers are truly fucking annoying.

it starts with robin watching, smothering a smirk as heather takes nancy apart, giving heather pointers that always result in higher pitched whines from a breathless nancy, but eventually it devolves into a free for all after heather asks if robin wants a turn, supported by pleading whimpers from nancy, and robin takes turns with both, and they both take turns with her until its a mess of lips, teeth, slick, and sweat that ends with all of them breathless and boneless, piled up on the bed.

i imagine chrissy frequents the family video store really often, she loves sticky romcoms and has a bit of the thing for the scattered but snarky cashier who’s rings brush her fingers every time she hands over the small fee for that weekend’s movie.

she knows robin buckley, knows she was in band in high school, knows the rumors, knows they’re true. knows that nancy wheeler wears her distinctive jackets to house parties to cover up the vivid marks on her neck. and with that knowledge she keeps a respectful distance, because in friendlier corners of town it was well known that nancy and robin owned each other in every way that matters.

she subdues herself to light blushes as she leaves the store and smiling to herself at the rasp of robin’s voice when one day, none other than nancy wheeler is perched on the counter of family video, smiling at something robin said when she turns her attention to chrissy. her look turns thoughtful, like she’s considering something, before offering chrissy the half-hearted wave of seeing someone you’re acquainted with in public.

nancy is striking in her own way, and when chrissy walks up to the counter with her latest pick, dirty dancing, she finds herself a little overwhelmed with both of them looking at her, and it takes her a moment to register robin talking to her, asking her if she wants to hang out with them when robin’s shift ends, and all she can do is stutter out a startled yes.

it starts off really casual, the three of them lounging in a diner, chrissy in one booth and nancy and robin in the other, talking about nothing. both robin and nancy are not-so-subtley flirting with each other, not surprising, but they also direct that energy towards chrissy, and when the bill is paid, they both ask with sharp smiles if she wants to hang out more at nancy’s place (her family is out of town for the weekend, not that that should matter)

things get a little crazy when they take her down to the basement, and robin and nancy are getting a little handsy with each other, and chrissy stands to excuse herself. its one thing, watching their affection for each other, its another to watch them get more physical, every touch sending a flash of heat through her, and its going to be an actual problem much too fast.

both robin and nancy look sheepish and nancy steps forward, admitting that they’d thought she’d be into joining them, and apologizing for assuming that.

chrissy: floored

because?? what?? they both?? wanted?? to do something like that?? with her?? she could tell they were flirting but this was more than she imagined for their FIRST hangout!

I think that it's valid to see Nancy as a top, but I hate reading that she's "obviously" a top or has inherent "dom energy"

The way I see it, when Nancy's in badass-girlboss mode, it's not because she wants to be in control, but because she has to. Because nobody listens to her, no one believes her, she can never assume that anyone else is going to come to her aid.

So, just maybe, after feeling like she has no choice but to put others before herself or risk losing them, she might find relief in not having to think, in being told what to do and knowing that she's going to be taken care of.
