i see a lot of new interest in blender, or people learning blender due to interest in corporate clash, making their own renders and stuff... which i find extremely awesome and i love it

i have a tip for you though, before you render, i recommend setting the view transform to standard instead of the default filmic - youll get a much more game-accurate result with better contrast

Hi mailman! You confirmed during a pizzeria hangout in game that you designed the Circuit Breaker (very cool design, btw. I love all your designs), and I was wondering if I could ask who redesigned the Magnate. Magnates are my favorite standard cog and I would like to thank whoever gave them such an awesome glow up 🥰

thanks so much!! it really does mean the world ❤️ but yes, i had the opportunity to design circuit breaker, magnate, and head honcho! magnate was my favorite too, he was the first piece of clash fanart i made back in 2018, well before I joined the team, so we have a history together...

im not too familiar with who designed the others though--i would ask a different dev if youre curious about anyone else 😎 also, its always fun talking to you guys in those in-game hangouts... i hope i get to attend more in the future

i put a lot of thought and love into it and its listening order. i think turning on crossfade could be fun

i might make one specifically for firestarter some day, but i think firestarter's music taste is a lot more heavy than pacesetter's...more thrashy....though im sure some songs on here FS may have introduced him to, and maybe for some of these songs PS has FS in mind ;--)

hi! im curious on any fun design details for deep diver!! idk how to ask this. like.. fun facts regarding her? i dunno im curious on how u went about it!

i cant remember if i talked about her before, so here is what i do remember.... she was fairly straightforward for me to design, pretty much just a cartoon take on old diving suits, but my most awesome fact about her are the other things i was inspired by for her design

beyond the obvious, i remember being inspired by dennis from spongebob… maaaybe it comes off in personality..? (when i say personality, i mean visual personality which is different from how she may be written, i didnt do anything for her on the writing side)

the other inspirations were treasure knight from shovel knight, anglerfish, and…marvin the martian… yes...i only remember this because i pulled up the pureref sheet/moodboard i made when i was designing her

in terms of process, deep diver is one of the few cogs i designed without much prior sketching, i used a lasso fill tool and blocked in shapes and colors fairly quickly 🐟⚓️

#i think i answered an ask awhile ago and said i didnt have any character-based inspirations for most of my designs #but honestly i just completely forgot about deep diver's #sorry for the inconsistency there #this is very TMI but my memory on some things comes and goes due to chronic illness #so i am not the most reliable narrator #i only know a couple things...just a thing or two #anyway back to playing neopets... #edit: maybe when you look under her diving helmet you actually just see dennis with a dangly anglerfish thing. awesome /lh #joking mostly

what is the reasoning for Buck’s red hands?

omg im glad i have a reason to share this detail now!

the red in his palette was chosen to fit with the casino theming...but also, buck is a mallard, and mallards aren't fully green all over...so him having red hands is an abstracted take on the tan/brown you would see on a mallard's wings

look very closely at the duck on his slot machine eye texture (its my icon)--you might notice it looks a lot like him. recognize the metal beak and the golden eyes? 😉

#it also has the added benefit of contrasting nicely against the green suit

sure! its very similar though, i kinda based the whole composition around the text (as i always do with comics)

just stating again that this is only my personal opinion/my own headcanon, and i am usually very careful about sharing them as I prefer for people to come to their own conclusions based on the actual canon, but i will share this just for fun:

i think they had a relationship that ended on bad terms… and i imagine the drama-loving flint talked a lot of shit about him to graham… who is confrontational... which makes it especially awkward when theyre all in the same room together…oops...

flints pretty good at talking behind peoples backs (and graham loves to hear it) but i imagine he cannot take any of the actual confrontation that comes along with it

Howdy, Mailman! I'm sure we've all had this question in our minds several times before (and I'm sure you might've been asked this before), but have you ever thought of how the Chainsaw Consultant consumes food and drinks?

i will provide you with several options:

boring: due to his design, i dont think he consumes stuff funny: he puts the chainsaw into whatever thing hes trying to consume and it gets slurped up down the chain. it is very messy awesome: his mouth is somewhere else eco-friendly: he doesn't consume traditional food, but absorbs energy like a solar panel photosynthesis: his bulbs contain chlorophyll-like structures, allowing him to capture sunlight and convert it into energy emotional: he consumes his emotions hmmm: many tiny holes

boring 2: he gets plugged into the wall funny 2: holographic meatloaf

hi mr mailman! i know you arent a part of the writing team, but is there any specific reason why pacesetter and firestarter ended up paired together? you've mentioned both of them having musical/metal inspo, was that part of it? or was it more of just throwing darts at a board? love your work!! <3

this is just my personal/non-official/non-lore perspective on it, but I see a lot of character relationships in media that have some obvious shared theme, like fire and water, which is cool… But Pacesetter and Firestarter, despite being seemingly unrelated at a glance, actually have subtler things in common (shared music taste being among them… PS probably enjoys hearing about drama from FS too). their personalities complement each other well despite the visual differences. firestarter needs the confidence; pacesetter needs the appreciation, validation, and probably many other things… maybe he could learn some patience too…

as for the real-world reason why they're in a relationship… well… my memory is bad, but IIRC, it came up a year or two ago... I believe the idea for their relationship existed before either character had a tie to music, back when they just had personalities and designs (which are essentially the same as they are now), so in that way, the initial idea was very personality based

of course the previous paragraphs relate to it, but let’s say this– they told me personally that they wanted to be together

#they kind of make me think of katy and lammy #except the instruments are swapped #tldr: they have a lot of things in common and their personalities work well together #which i think is more realistic in some ways #as for the lore as to why they got together....... not my place to say....... i think there may be some clues out there though #i hope you enjoy the very old ms paint drawings i drew with my mouse
