Road to Avonlea!!!

It's a 90's Canadian drama/comedy/slice of life/found family story based on the setting and characters from the Anne of Green Gables and Road to Avonlea books (although it does not follow the RtA books very closely, mostly just uses the setting and character names). It's set on Prince Edward Island in the early 1900s in the sleepy little town of Avonlea where gossip is the main entertainment and hard work is life. It follows the lives of the King family and all their relations and friends they make along the way and tells the adventures (and misadventures) of every one of them.

All the characters are well developed, some you love and some you hate (from the loveable rogue that is Gus Pike to the detestable Mrs. Bugle who has zero redeeming qualities) the setting is beautiful and nostalgic, the situations the characters get in to are ridiculous, and there is an excellent mixture of fun, tragedy, romance, comedy, and all around....just wholesome goodness.

It's good, clean fun for anyone of any age and I may be a little bias since this show has been part of my life since I was a little bitty kiddo, but I believe no other show has ever come close to matching it.

Should you watch it? ABSOLUTELY.

Appreciation for the AG Tennis Outfits

While I normally don’t gravitate towards the sporty outfits, I think AG really shined when making their tennis outfits. Each one is cute and unique from the rest, yet still catch the essence of the sport. Many of them also have pieces that can be used outside of the intended outfit!!

Tennis Outfit I

This is by far the simplest tennis outfit, but that doesn’t make it any less cute!! And the white dress could totally be repurposed for something else, like a school uniform or a vintage nurse costume.

Tennis Outfit II

THE CAT HAS A MATCHING OUTFIT!! This outfit has so much personality, and you gotta love the hot pink tennis balls.

Tennis and Golf Set

The mix and match aspect of this outfit is really cool!! The skirt is also reversible!!

Tennis Skirt Set

The vibe of this outfit is so completely different than the previous outfits, and I don’t mind it. She literally matches the tennis ball.

Tennis Outfit III

We’re dialing back the in your face aspect a bit here, but it’s still a good outfit. This is another one of those outfits that even just be worn as an everyday outfit, or school uniform.

Her asymmetrical dress is SO COOL!! She’s SO COOL!! Personally, I would have given her dark blue and magenta tennis balls, but I’m cooler than AG will ever be.

Molly’s Tennis Outfit

Definitely one of my favorite limited edition outfits!! I mean.. LOOK at her. I’d totally wear this outfit to go to the grocery store.

Don't think I ever posted photos but this year was my first year back at con since the pandemic and thanks to my most lovely brother I was able to take Ao with me this year (he gave me him as an xmas present specifically bc he knew how much I loved the series and that he would be perfect for my costume).

Not my best photos but it was an absolutely fantastic time to be back and I had loads of people recognize Yona and chat with me about the series or take pics with me and Ao 🥰

Rereading Anne

I just finished rereading the entire "Anne" series. My favorite book is still Anne of Green Gables, but I also really like Anne of the Island and Rilla of Ingleside.
