Afrofuturism Exhibit:
On Monday, March 4th, I visited the Afrofuturism Exhibit in the Fine and Performing Arts Building. Seeing how technology and African American culture are a powerful combination was nice. Many of the pieces were attached to science fiction and showed how the futuristic style can be used in different mediums and contexts. There were references to movies like Black Panther; which is the most prominent example of Afrofuturism and its impact. Another reference was showcasing the first black woman to be in the TV series Star Trek. Seeing how the artists incorporate Afrofuturism in their own way is inspiring for potential artists who want to use Afrofuturism in their works.
