Desi Canonization Tournament Update

Here are the results so far - there are 6 matches left for Round 2 that should be wrapping up in a day or so. Round 3 will likely start next week, and I'll schedule the matches accordingly so that there isn't too big a delay between rounds - this most likely means that I will release the round 3 matches in batches of 4 over the course of 2 days. Desi Canonization Poll Masterpost

Thank you all for the wait, the time is finally here to announce the desi canonization poll matchups! For those of you who are just stumbling upon this, this is a poll idea that came from @latinotiktok's polls a while back. It's all in fun to see which of these characters will be granted the title of a desi girl (gender neutral)

The polls are tentatively set to start on February 1st, with one to two matches a day. I hope to try and update this post with the winners of each round as we go along, but you can find any information about the matchups under the tags #desi canonization poll

Welcome to the DC/Marvel Tournament!

I made this tournament because while everyone knows the Batfamily, the Avengers, Superman, the "main" X-Men, there are a LOT of characters who don't get the spotlight.

You may submit ANY comics character, but their acceptance is determined not based on number of submissions, but on the following criteria:

This is NOT a poll for the movies, tv shows, novels or any comics besides DC or Marvel comics. This includes crossovers and properties (like the DCAU or the MCU) based on the comics.

Characters with real-world counterparts will not be accepted.

Characters with over a thousand appearances will not be accepted. Characters with around 400-500 will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Priority will be given to more niche characters. For instance, Jon Kent is just shy of 400 appearances, but will not be accepted even if submitted because he is very well known.

Characters who have a surge in interest or exposure due to recent media appearances- ie, Gwen Stacy or Miguel O'Hara- will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Less popular characters like Margo Kess (Spider-byte) or Patrick O'Hara (Web-Slinger) have a better chance of getting in than either Gwen or Miguel if submitted.

I reserve the right to veto characters for my own comfort. (IE, characters like Lyja the Lazerfist, Catalina Flores and Baron von Blitzachlag are not getting in, period.)

This is my first tournament, so please bear with me. Submissions will be open for at least a fortnight. After submissions are closed, I may run preliminary polls on characters with more borderline appearances. Currently I plan on a bracket of about 32, maybe 64 if I get enough submissions.

I have a couple characters in mind to fill out the roster if I don't get enough submissions but I will give priority to submitted characters.
