First of all, I’m really disappointed in how many will scream and chant for their kpop boys/girls to post and ask to ‘influence’ their audience. There’s so many things wrong with that; the black lives matter movement is so much more bigger than Korean idols/Kpop. It’s a real life thing. Happening in this moment. Innocent lives by the hundreds are being killed because white people are finding themselves to believe that they’re living in a world of superiority and only the white man matters, which is not the case. I have no idea what it’s like to be in the position of my life being threatened by police brutality or racism, but I assure when even I am on the verge of a threatening situation I never think about which kpop idols will be talking about it.
This goes to say you should not be expecting and waiting for a korean group, idol or influencer to inspire or urge you to donate or help a cause. This is something you have to do for yourself. Your moral compass as a human being should already be seeking justice for these poor lives lost, signing petitions, being loud, protecting your POC brothers and sisters, donating to charities and bail funds, asking what else YOU can do to help. If you’re waiting for a celebrity/idol to do that first so you can brag about how ‘woke’ your fav is to other fandoms, you truly do not care for these humans, you care about validity.
Remember, Black Lives Matter. If you don’t have that instinct of helping, then you’re just the same as the oppressor.
