Hello! I managed to get my college theatre professor very interested in TAOPP, and she requested that I check in and see if you guys have any updates on licensing for this show or others? I’m pretty sure at one point you’d mentioned trying to cut down TAOPP before realizing rights? I could be totally wrong, but we’re both very interested if you were looking to rent rights!

Hi! Thanks for checking in! Basically we aren't licensing rights on a large scale but more on a case-by-case basis, so we could make an individual contract for your professor if she emails us at [email protected].

Did Vincent genuinely think he was putting Ambrose out of his misery, or did they just want to kill him?

Mostly the latter (I think he’d have tried to kill him either way, but since Ambrose asked…I bet he thought “might as well!”)

Up to actor and director interpretation, but imo if he genuinely thought he was putting Ambrose out of his misery, he probably wouldn’t have sung “Me, Myself, and I” with the others right after. And Act II would be different - Elliot

When Ghost Story is done will it be put on YouTube like Adamandj and TAOPP are?

We actually finished (most of) our first go at a Ghost Story draft in the winter! We've been letting it sit and are gonna return to it and work on it a lot in July/August. (We are traveling to Montana through the Open AIR Residency to do more research and revision!) Right now we don't have any production plans lined up for the show, so we can't say.

Permission to make my own version of the skask? I really like the idea of it, the horror behind it can be played with many different ways, but I understand that it’s based on your friend’s face and I don’t wanna make a horrible fake flesh monstrosity of a character based on someone you know without your permission.

Sure! The shape/base is that of a hockey mask I think, so it isn't really based on the actor's face, don't worry. - Elliot

Were there any songs or lines you wish you could have kept in Adamandi or TAOPP that you couldn’t due to time constraints? Or any songs/lines you really liked, but couldn’t keep within the shows due to the fact they wouldn’t really fit in the story?

For Adamandi, we were gonna write a song featuring Quincy and Vincent writing letters home! The show ended up focusing more on their in-university lives, but I miss getting to learn more about their familial contexts. For TAOPP, I don't feel necessarily attached to this song, but Louis's "When You're Small" used to be a song called "Never Let My Guard Down" (which would of course be reprised later to be about Jason.) - Elliot

We used to have a whole song in Adamandi called "Why Am I Here" where the students talked about why they... want the prize and there used to be a little sequence in the middle that I loved the way it sounded musically:

And also Ambrose and Vincent's lyrics are just. Full of references to their academic specialties I liked a lot. It was a research song!

For Princes, I liked this little Jason monologue that eventually turned into Talk About It With You!

Was the line in A Little More in Love about Quincy correcting preceptors a reference to Quincy being deadnamed, or is Quincy just really extra about being called Quincy Cynthias Martin instead of just Quincy Martin?

Ironically, their name is actually spelled *Cynthius. But it's intended to be the former!

I work with 2 yr olds and one of them is named Ambrose and it’s so hard for me cos all I can think of is adamandi but I can’t explain that to my coworkers so instead I told them with full confidence that Ambrose is the name of a type of salad (was thinking of ambrosia salad) anyway I’ve been cursed and have adamandi playing in my head as I try to sing hot potato with toddlers

helloo!! i wanted to ask about the cover permissions and such for adamandi and taopp and how that sort of thing works?

i was also wondering if there was any particular reason that there are taopp song instrumentals but not (to my knowledge) official adamandi instrumentals, or if theres not really a reason? (if you dont mind sharing!) ^^

For the first question: we generally don't mind fan covers, as long as you're not making money off of them! Seeing fans cover our work is very cool and we like seeing them in the tag :) If you do want to cover one of our songs for profit, you would need to obtain a mechanical license through our distributor, Distrokid.

For the second question, the Adamandi album is a live album from the performances at Princeton last year, so we both didn't make the specific arrangements on those songs (our lovely orchestrator did!) and don't have fully built-out MIDI backing tracks for those songs (i.e. the voices and the instruments were recorded at the same time, so there's no way for us to isolate just the instruments in those recordings.) We do sell sheet music with piano-vocal scores for most of the Adamandi songs on our website, so if you or someone you know plays piano, those would probably be your best bet!

Hiiiii I am still hyper fixated on Adamandi and I HAVE to ask to make sure (because I might've forgotten, unfortunate ADHD brain) — how is Adamandi pronounced?

I say "Adam-and-ee" but I also have only been making it up as I go and really just wanna know how to pronounce what I'm hyper fixated on.

Aaaaaand if you're still answering silly facts and don't mindddd, what're the favorite ice cream flavors of the Adamandi characters?

Adamandi is pronounced more-or-less with the Classical Latin (as opposed to Ecclesiatical Latin) pronunciation. This would make it ah-duh-MAN-dee (or, for a more detailed pronunciation guide -- at least in an American accent: "ah" (like the "o" in "opera") - "duh" (like the "du" in "duck") - MAHN (like the "mon" in "monster") - dee (like the "dy" in "scaredy").)

Quincy also pronounces it correctly in the end of I Hate And I Love ("Ego Adamandi, falling in love, apart.") if you want to hear it said out loud!

P.S. Quincy would like cherry-vanilla, Beatrix would like strawberry, Vincent would like matcha, Ambrose only likes vanilla he's weak, Portia likes something insane like black sesame.
