After a year of work, Meowlodrama is complete! I’m really really proud of all the work I put into it and of how it turned out. Making a short film from start to finish is a long and painful experience but its super enlightening and really rewarding when its finished.
What i worked on this week! cleaning up shots 11-14! i think 12 could use a little bit more work, but im not going to make it a priority of mine. next week i have a few more shots, some white space, and some background to clean up/add, but other than that i just have to make sure it is all exported correctly and put together!
this week I cleaned up shots 16, 20, and 21, as well as redoing background 11. i didnt do anything to background 12, because i thought it looked good by itself but i can change line colors/ add a sky gradient pretty easily if i think it looks bad in the final. ive added one shot to next week’s workload, because Ive realized that it wasnt anywhere before, but! beside making any changes to background 12 then all my backgrounds will be done, and ill add them all in for next weeks update!
Milestone as of 11/6! This week ive added in all the backgrounds that ive done, touched up alot of the smaller details, and clean up backgrounds 7 and 8. I did have to push back cleanup of scene 18, but i think it should be okay.
my full film as of 11/9. i have a few audio issues from adding the video into premier, and it still needs a little bit more cleanup and the backgrounds added.
This week the workload was alot more manageable, after the revisions last week. While i would like to maybe come back to scenes 6 and 7, i think the new workload with a little bit better time management will allow me to get more and more done each week.
This week i have worked on shots 4, 8, and 8, and cleaned them up a great deal. However, I also looked at my next upcoming weeks and have rearranged my time based more on what I think I’ll be able to accomplish. Hopefully this will give me more breathing room each week to accomplish other things, like coloring and small video edits.
For the first milestone, the past week I’ve heavily cleaned up shots 2, 3 and the cat character in shot 10, as well as adding in all the key frames for the chair and their white backgrounds. Shot 2 is the one I thought was most incomplete, so having it complete makes my animation feel pretty finished/polished already.
here is the progress on the chair! this week i figured out the issue i had with rendering in open toonz, and i started work on the backgrounds. there are a few now that are cleaner, as well as playing with some color.
This week I wasn't able to get everything done that i wanted to, due to time mismanagement. However, i was still able to make a reference for the chair, and add in key frames for all of the scenes that need it (not yet with the white background, or with in-betweens. Additionally, these are posted as images rather than a video because i had an issue with rendering in my animation program, and i will be looking into that the upcoming week.
This is my full rough animation, going into post production! I have my asset list and milestone document, these quarter will mostly consist of touching up the animation and backgrounds, hopefully adding color, and most importantly adding the chair to all the shots that need it
Here it is, Meowlodrama, my final project for Animated Film Production! Overall I’m very satisfied with it. I didn’t reach all of my production milestones, as there was still a lot of inbetweening animation that could have been done, but i focused on what places that i think especially needed it. I think i underestimated doing backgrounds, as they took up much more of my time than i thought they would. I think I’m ready for post production, the only thing i think ill do over the summer is try to add the chair to all the shots that need it and smooth out just a few more places with inbetweening.
This week i finally fixed all audio sync issues, and added pretty much every background except one i didn't realize i needed. I also fixed the blur artifact as a result of rendering it wrong. I have a pretty satisfactory almost final product, my main priority will be adding a white background to all the characters for all scenes, as well as the final background i need. for the next week, i will be looking at only the shots that i think need inbetweening the most in terms of more animating progress.
Here’s what I submitted for the film festival! Ive implemented a lot of backgrounds and reedited the sound slightly, and realized a slight discrepancy in some of the lengths of each chunk of scenes from my animation program. Sometime next week I’m going to go through premier pro to figure out what scenes need a few extra frames and add those, which will hopefully solve any audio problems in the future. I also started in-betweening this week even though none of it is added to my film festival submission.
I was not as productive as i would have liked to be this week, but I am focused on creating something for the film festival. I have added the backgrounds I have and credits, plus my title to the keyframed version. I fixed the audio problems I was having. I feel like all I would really need to submit at this point is a few more backgrounds. The milestone document has been updated, with the order in which background should be done rearranged.
