Miraculous World - Shanghai
Now you may note, this one's a little different than usual, it's less of a pilot special and more of a 'episode Zero'
a preview of what's to come
We open on an aether, a magic type void.
There are gentle sparks of light, not quite stars, pink in color. And the gentle, sweet trilling voice of a Kwami drifts through the aether.
“Do you know that feeling, when you’ve only just awoken? When you haven’t opened your eyes yet and the world around you is soft? When you know you could just roll over and curl up deeper into your bed and fall right back asleep? That feeling that doesn’t feel like it truly has a name? That blend of comfort and serenity and sleep and contentment?”
Those pink sparks coalesced together until they were in the rough approximation of a Kwami, one with big ears and wings. “That’s me with you as you drift between sleeping and wake. I am called Tranqii in this era. I am the embodiment of sleep.”
Tranqii in this light approximation remains curled up and clearly at peace. “I knew there were others like me-” there are all around Tranqii explosions of sparks in different colors, red and green and blue and purple and yellow and a million more, one for every Kwami we’ve ever seen and then more. None of them seemed to disturb Tranqii in their slumber. “I knew they were all having fun, living their lives in the physical. Enjoying being awake. But I'd never really felt the urge to join them.”
But then there’s a flicker, purple sparks turning into a deep violet and a similar experience happening to blue sparks. And Tranqii opens their eyes when light brown sparks erupt in front of their face
The scene then rapidly shifts to a room we saw only very briefly in the Shanghai special oh so long ago, a young chinese woman with her hair in a ponytail is huffing and fussing over a wristband she was trying to make JUST right. And over her shoulder is a Korean woman with a round face. A-Fei and Yun Eun-Ji look over the work that A-Fei had settled on, A-Fei leans over to consult the large tome of Miraculous that was resting nearby once again, and tranqii’s voice came out dubbed over the scene.
“But then, even the soundest sleepers are awoken when they are truly needed.”
Cue Intro, rather than the more simple miraculous world theme we’re instead greeted by an edgier ‘Batman beyond’ vibe type intro, of Yun Eun-Ji, A-Fei, and Sun Min standing against unrelenting odds, notable faces of the old order we actually know are seen, Wu Lian is seen with the scorpion Medallion along her neck, and Zhao Kai is spotted, much more serious than we used to see him, and running along with them is a familiar face of a certain New Old Order Member that got away. But the intro ends on the three young heroes standing atop the temple they hold down’s roof, gazing out at Shanghai, which they seem to be at the outskirts of, able to see the city but not fully interact with it.
But that’s just the intro, when we fully return back to the story we return to A-Fei talking with her parents, a conspicuous bracelet cuff around her wrist.
“-I just think it would be good for me to spend some time away from home.” She reasoned, but her mother sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. “Sweetheart, you’re always proposing these things and never following through! I just worry we’re going to force some poor monks to escort you back home because you lost your nerve studying under them ‘for practical college credit’” She sighed and folded her arms, leaning against the counter she’d been chopping vegetables on.
“Frankly, it sounds more like you’re doing this so you can avoid helping me out at dinner.” A Fei sighed, from where she was currently sat peeling carrots, her mother continued to look skeptical.
“I’m… I'm not doing it alone, mother. I’m going to have other students there with me.”
“And Who might those students be?”
“Well there’s this Korean Girl, her names’ Yun Eun-Ji, and there’s Sun Min he’s-”
“A boy?” Her mother turned sharply to her and A-Fei groans. “And What, I’m guessing you’ll all be in the same room too? And not to question it?”
“Mother, I won't be trying to SLEEP with him!” A-Fei shrilled, scandalized. But her mother scoffs, unaffected by her denial.
“What about him? And this Korean girl as well? Even if he’s not after you, you’re MUCH too young to be finding a sock laying next to your door.” “Oh Heavens above…” A-Fei sighs, letting her carrot fall into the pile of skins for a moment before reaching back in to retrieve it. “Mother, if you can’t trust me on my own then why are you letting me go to college at all?” That gives her mother pause, and A-Fei takes the opportunity.
“Look, give me just this weekend, just this weekend to test things out, and we’ll see what happens. If you think I'll flake you’ll be able to tell by Monday. And if I won’t then…?”
Her mother thinks for a moment, and sighs.
“Fine. the weekend. But you’d better actually DO the work they tell you do. Listen to the lessons they teach. And 我的女孩?” She reaches over to gently cup A-fei’s cheek-
Before pulling her hand into a playful pinch to it. “Your mother will KNOW if you try to cheat your way out of doing any work, Lazy girl.” A-Fei whines and squirms out of her mother’s grasp, their relationship is a little strained, but still loving it would seem.
We follow A-Fei for a little longer, she finishes setting up lunch with her mother, some really tasty looking bowls of noodles (insert anime food joke here) and the family table is lively as everyone chatters about the goings on of the world. Cousin Xiuying went to Japan recently. And she didn’t stop over on a plane layover to say hi? The comings and goings of average family life, and other such trivial but hearty things. Until they’re finished and one of A-Fei’s friends we saw briefly back in the Shanghai special rolls up. And She’s just barely able to get out of doing the dishes since She’d helped cook, saddling her Dad with them instead as she gets to roll off. Her mother shouting behind her that she’d better be back before dinner and she’s able to ride off on the back of one of her friends’ bike. From here we see a bit more of the life of A-Fei, how her friends aren’t any particular niche, they hang out at the arcade and the skate park with equal ease. One boy, now dubbed as Yuan Zhong, is a part time lion dancer for parades and such, and hates it since he’s always the butt of the lion. Another (known to be Liang Jiao) delivers pharmaceuticals for his family’s home remedies business, and the third (Xie Kang) is unemployed, and the designated rich boy of the group (despite being barely upper middle class) as he buys bubble tea for everyone. The boys comment that it’s been awhile since she’s hung out with them, she’s been ‘so preoccupied’ with her ‘project’
A-Fei brushes it off, but then Yuan leans in and asks if it has anything to do with that cute girl she’s been hanging around lately. Xie adding on that the boy was cuter, and maybe she could hook them up? A-Fei rolls her eyes and insults the lot of them for being gross.
“They’re just people I'm working on the same project with, you bunch of freaks…”
“Lot of effort to put into project partners-” Liang Jiao brings up, pulling out his phone and idly tapping on it. “Didn’t you guys go out of town for something last year? That’s what we were covering for you for, right?”
“Hey yeah it’s been like a year hasn’t it?!” Yuan brings up, scandalized. “And we still haven’t officially MET them?! FeiFei this is OUTRAGEOUS.”
“You guys wouldn’t even LIKE each other! Sun Min is Soooo boring! And Yun Eun-ji’s a jerk anyway!” She scoffed. And the boys all look unimpressed at her.
“Sounds like something someone who doesn’t want us to know about her extremely cool friends would say.” Xie huffs and looks away in upset.
A-Fei sighs, but just as she does so her phone chimes, she looks down at it and lets out a surprised ’eep!’ “Sorry guys, I think I have to go!” “Yeah yeah, back to that ‘project’ we’re not even allowed to know what it is.”
“I Signed an NDA Yuan!” Yuan is unmoved.
But A-Fei sighs and looks around for a moment. “Fine- I’ll… I’ll see if I can arrange something for all of us to do so you can meet them okay?”
The three boys all look between each other before as one, nodding. And A-fei sighs. “Alright. Thanks.”
But just like that she turned and ran off.
“Oh she’s definitely ‘with’ one of them.”
“No doubt, no doubt.”
But we clip back to A-Fei quickly, the girl ducking into an alley and opening her jacket to reveal for the first time, Tranqii. Asleep in a pocket in the inside of her jacket and snoring blissfully.
“Tranqii, it’s time to wake up.”
“Mmmm no.” the Kwami grunted, turning over in the pocket so they weren’t facing her. A-Fei sighs and pulls from her bag a pouch happily labeled ‘health friendly roasted crickets’
She shook them around a little and Tranqii turns, squinted big black eyes at the bag of crickets, then back at her. “I’m starting to think you might play dirty…” the little bat huffed, and A-Fei laughed.
“Tranqii, Transform me!”
We watch A-Fei dart across the rooftops of Shanghai, a little clumsier than expected, but in her defense, she’s very new at this. Every so often she hits a fire escape and has to scramble up to avoid falling down the side of the building, people inside nearly seeing her before she darts out of the way.
She’s very much keeping her presence a secret, not just her identity. And for a time all it seems she’s doing is simply enjoying the world around her. She seems to be delighting in it. Eventually she stops at a random rooftop, sighing and leaning back in position slightly. Here we get the best look at her current uniform, it’s not very different at all compared to the one we saw when she made her first appearance, just a few small details being changed, such as the pink accent color being in some different places but otherwise unchanged. The least interesting take of anyone so far.
But as she’s simply enjoying the scenery, one of the fake bat ears on her head twitches, and sure enough as seen from behind her a shadowy figure is seen crouching low in the shade of the roof entrance. A-Fei doesn’t seem to notice at first, the figure creeps closer and closer, dropping low as if to pounce
Without warning we cut to the figure’s POV, slowly creeping closer and closer, trying very hard to not make a sound, when an orange glove seems about to reach out to grab her and-
“Don’t even try it.” she turns her head and makes eye contact, where we switch back to 3rd person camera.
Sun Min stumbles back in surprise, but laughs, he’s transformed much like her, but his costume is much different than we saw him last, much more black than before, as if he were trying to create a sort of ‘stealth mode’ with his look.
“You’re a real pain in my neck aren’t you Mister Lion?”
Sun Min laughed and plopped down beside her. “You know we have like ‘hero names’ right?”
“You do in Paris, but what’s the point in having them here? NORMAL criminals don’t know who we even are, why should we be concerned about those ‘Old Order’ clowns?” “Because you just fought in a war with them like a year ago and you nearly died several times?” Sun Min laughed as if it was all a joke, A-Fei didn’t laugh back, she just looked perturbed. She huffed and puffed and Sun Min sighed. “Look… Yun Eun-Ji and I only like, JUST finished making sure there weren’t any more magical booby traps on the old temple, but now that they’ve taken some time to lay low this is the EXACT sort of time where my old masters would try to pull something. Because they know we won’t expect it. Or if we do then we won’t think they’ll do it NOW.” He sighed.
“And that’s why we’re moving my training up?”
“And that’s why we’re moving your training up.”
She sighed and leaned forward a bit, bracing her chin on her arm, and arm on her knee. “And I don’t suppose that you have anything in your spellbooks that can make my family and friends STOP asking questions because people are starting to grow sick of me hiding things and flaking out at everything, my mother almost didn’t let me sign off on this at all because she thinks I drop things willy-nilly now…!”
Sun Min sighed. “I’ll… I’ll talk to her.” But A-Fei turned back to him, expression suddenly grave. “What?”
“But don’t like- I was being facetious, don’t actually do anything to my mom’s brain.” Sun Min laughed and was clearly more at ease than before.
“I won’t do any magic that will mess with your mothers faculties or subvert her free will. Okay?”
A-Fei sighs. “Okay.” But like that, they were both standing, stretching, and she took out her bolos, and he took out his knuckle dusters and they began training.
What follows is a simple sort of sparring scene where Sin Min clearly has A-Fei outpaced and outclassed, but they’re both clearly still having fun, laughing and lightly shoving and all that good stuff.
As they’re both training and enjoying themselves, there’s another set of eyes on the two of them. But these ones remain in the shadows until-
A teal ninetails whips out and catches Sun Min’s leg, tripping him up at the exact right time for A-Fei to land a blow to the solar plexus.
“Always expect the unexpected!” A cheerful voice responds, and a-Fei turns and grins when she spots the girl.
“Yun Eun-Ji!” She chirped darting over and giving the girl a hug. “I was worried I'd have to wait a WHOLE nother week to see you!”
“Such a tragedy!” The octopus wielder laughed as She let go of her ninetails and let the lion wielder struggle in it for a little longer. “So what did your mother say about staying at the temple with us?”
“She said she’d give it the weekend and see if I'm full of shit or not.” Yun Eun-Ji narrowed her eyes at her, oddly serious for a moment.
“Are you?”
A-Fei looks shocked for a moment, before laughing and pushing her arm. Yun Eun ji Laughs too and the tension is broken.
“You’re such a jerk!”
“So are you!” They simply shove each other back and forth a few more times before Sun Min pops his head back up and rolls his eyes very dramatically.
“Come on ladies, let's not make a scene in front of the lion. A-Fei did you want to see what we’ve been up to in the temple or what?”
A-Fei looks over, surprised, and sure enough one rooftop race later they’ve arrived far out of town, to the more grassy surroundings.
The kids have all detransformed, and roll up on a motorcycle driven by Sun Min, the other two girls piled onto the back, and they roll up to an otherwise perfectly normal looking buddhist temple, albeit one that looked like it had been abandoned for some time.
And as we pull up on the kids they continue a conversation. “Well the ACTUAL buddhists left ages ago once a big enough city had popped up right next to their damn temple, So for centuries it was exclusively an Order of Miracles Temple putting on the facade of Buddhism.” He takes off his helmet and is notably the only one wearing one, parking his bike and hanging his helmet on the handlebars.
“And as we know other than the ‘not getting involved with the world around us’ part there wasn’t actually much in common between the two.”
“Yeah the edifice complex of ‘we’re better than these whimps that didn’t do this’ thing runs DEEP.” Yun Eun-ji adds on. “‘S part of why they stayed in Shanghai, literally JUST so it could be more of a practice to look down on people than they were before.”
“Or at least that’s how Yun Eun-Ji interpreted the stories.”
“And I was RIGHT”
“Being right about our teachers being screwball crazy and being right about every elder in the order ever being sociopathic god complex loonies are two very different things.”
But Sun Min throws open the doors, and, well… the place looks like an abandoned buddhist temple.
Except for when Sun Min leans over on the inside of the gate and presses a sigil of the old order on the wall. Wherein the magic of the place LIGHTS the whole temple up, It’s a beautiful display of color and light as they dance about the realm before them. A-Fei gasps.
“No way… this is AMAZING!”
“Less amazing when it’s five am and the sun hasn’t risen yet and that's the only reason the lanterns are on…” Sun Min comments and Yun Eun-Ji elbows him in the gut.
A-Fei looks nervous then. “We’re not… actually gonna wake up at five…?”
“Of course not, that was sleep deprivation to rob us of our common sense. We’ll start at Six.”
A-Fei looks at the two of them, unsure if she should be relieved or not.
For a time we see a bit more training, Yun Eun-Ji and Sun Min really putting A-Fei through the paces, transformed for a while, and then A-Fei’s transformation drops with Tranqii yawning and saying they’re tired. They crunch down happily on their crickets as they watch A-Fei get her butt kicked.
We hear their voiceover once more.
“It’s an odd thing, living in the physical. There are many good things, like crickets. But bad things, like being tired. But…”
A-Fei looked back at them for a moment and smiled, waving, before getting a boot to the face. “It’s good, I think.”
But as we begin to pan out, we see shadows in the background, hiding in the trees, and in the passing of a leaf across the screen, they’re gone.
“I think my time in the physical world will be a very interesting one indeed.”

Miraculous World Rewrite - San Fransisco
Well there had to be a classical superhero story in here somewhere
We start in a dark room, the falling of flower petals, and the picture of a filipino woman in her mid forties or so. In narration a far more youthful voice starts us off.
“For generations, our family has kept the peace, we have toiled and tried and fought the injustices of the world. Our instincts guide us and show us the way.” There's a small beaded band with a sharktooth in the center that comes into frame at the bottom of the picture, and a small brown hand comes into frame and grabs the sharktooth. “Now it’s up to me to carry the legacy of those that came before. I carry the sharktooth, like my aunt before me, and my grandmother before her. I am the new shark. And I carry my legacy with pride.”
We then cut to a brightly lit penthouse room, pale fingers running quickly through black hair that tapers back into blonde near the roots. “You think this is gonna work?” a familiar voice asks.
“Trust me.” And even more familiar voice answers. “She’ll go absolutely ballistic.”
A camera ‘click’ goes off and its to show Chloe and Amber huddled beside each other for a selfie, both of them with freshly dyed ombre hairstyles, Chloe’s a nice medium magenta/purple, and amber’s going straight to black, complimenting an undercut hairstyle.
Cue intro.
We start up on a close up of the map we’ve been seeing for this entire special trilogy, specifically a blue thumbtack right over a town on the west coast of the US. A town called San Francisco for those whom are curious, maybe you’ve heard of it. But we only hold on it for a moment when we’re interrupted by the clatter of wood practice weapons. You remember the classic sparring matches, and as they very much used to be, this one has Chloe moving forward on the tonfas, going head to head with Sabrina, whom is holding her own a fair bit, Sabrina notably has her hair quite a bit longer than it used to be, long enough to hold back into a braid, while Chloe’s is still up in a ponytail. They trade blows a few moments longer Chloe swipes out Sabrina’s legs from under her and lands a tonfa right beside her face. “Aaannndd you’re dead. Or at least have severe blunt force trauma.”
“You know I'm starting to miss the days where you’d just boss me around.” Sabrina huffs even as Chloe helps her to her feet. “I could go without the regular ass kickings.”as she says this she massages a bruise forming on her shoulder.
Chloe laughs a bit and gently thwacks Sabrina on the shoulder. “Come on, You lost, so you make the post-workout smoothies.”
“I know, I know.  But that does mean if I slip something healthy that you hate in there you won’t be able to tell.” Sabrina chirps and Chloe makes a scoffing noise.
“Hey!”
But the playful squabbling is broken up by a new entry into the New base. Amber shuffling in chatting on the phone with someone. “Yeah. Okay. I get it. No problem at all. Yeah. You have a great day too.” they hang up and shout “Hey! Break up the squabbling, I got confirmations!” Amber strides over, leaning in to give Sabrina a peck on the cheek and then poke Chloe on hers.
“You mean the people in the states?” Chloe asks “We got a place to stay?”
“Yup! Told them Dad was looking into making a sister hotel in the city and that I was going to be scouting the location out of the recently bankrupt locations in the area.”
“Aaannnddd?”
“And you were looking into their arts schools to see if they had any beautician courses.”
“Sweet.”
“So wait, what are you guys looking for in particular again?” Sabrina asks. “I mean we’ve been keeping an eye out for the Old Order, and any lost Miraculous but hasn’t there been a fully established Superhero in that city for years now?”
“Generations.” Amber answers, pouring a mug of coffee for themself and sticking it in the microwave. “There have been generations of established superheroes, all with the same shark theme, but they always go through the same pattern of starting out around… older teens or so and they’re around for a few decades until the next one comes in. but there’s been a gap between sharks, pretty big one, too. If there’s a chance of some sort of long standing family losing a Miraculous, someone should be scoping it out, especially if Alya’s hunch about the Old Order guy in the states is right.” The microwave beeps and they take out the mug of coffee, dumping their customary 5 hour energy into it before swirling it around and chugging the thing.
“Bleh… anyway, pack up, cancel some appointments, Make sure your boyfriend knows you’ll miss him by having lots of ‘fun’. We’re heading out day after tomorrow.” At the finish of that Amber lifts Sabrina over their shoulder and begins to carry her toward the door. “Too bad we can’t have Luka come, I’ve heard very good things about some of the sights in that town.”
“He has to be leader while the others are away, shut up.” Chloe huffs. But sure enough does pick up her phone, cheeks a little red.
We cut then to a few days later, specifically the arrival time. Chloe is conspicuously wearing a faded blue jacket with a few ‘rocker’ patches stitched onto it. (though the sleeves are rolled up so one can still see the pretty severe looking burn scars from the finale are still there) and Amber is carrying a roller bag with them, nonbinary and bisexual stickers noticably on the rim of it.
“So, your English rusty any?” Chloe raises a brow and Amber makes a sort of ‘pssh’ noise.
“I spoke English WAY more than I spoke French growing up.” She grabs Chloe’s wrist after the two collect their bags and runs out to the arrivals street in the airport. “Taxi!”
The taxi’s blare right past Amber, never seeming to even slow down. Chloe trots up her phone in hand. “Looks like San Fransisco does reserved Taxis only. You have to call the company up before anyone would stop for you.”
“...Wha?”
“They’ve got a solid metro system though, where’s the hotel Father set us up at?” They confer for a moment longer over the directions before shuffling their way down to the metro system. Some parts actually going above ground which is absolutely bonkers to the both of them. Until eventually the twins arrive at the hotel. Very fancy, very cool. Chloe makes an offhand comment about how their hotel is still cooler though, laughing a clearly in jest ‘hoity toity laugh’.
“Okay, new city, new country, completely different time zone, and a mission in mind.” Amber says out loud. “Only one thing to do.”
Hard cut to both of them in a dead sleep in their hotel room.
The windows have been thoroughly darkened by the blinds, but one can see the light peeking out through cracks. Eventually though a phone starts to ring and Chloe gets up with a small whine, eyes still shut and hair a mess she answers.
“Bourgeois; I was sleeping so this better be good.”
“I’m guessing that means you got in safe?” a voice says around a chuckle and Chloe smiles, still dead tired. The screen splits in two to show Luka on the other side, guitar perched on his lap and Sass hovering by.
“Hi. Sorry, I was too tired to think straight. Can you tell father we made it in safe too?”
“I thought I was your boyfriend not your secretary?”
“Luka, Sweetie, darling, honeycakes, I am too damn tired to horse around over this, seriously what’s going on?”
“Right.” Luka goes serious business and leans forward a bit. “So I’ve been doing a bit of digging into this assumed Shark based Miraculous and the rogues galleries that frequent the city, and… Look I want you and Amber to be careful, okay? You don’t have Miraculous Ladybug OR Second Chance over there and if either of you get hurt while I’m playing at being leader-”
“Luka, you’re spiraling again.” Chloe huffs. “Take a deep breath, hun. Amber and I have been doing this for longer than you have, Not by much, but we have. We know what we’re doing. And Yeah okay, it’s the states, people have guns, but we can handle it.”
“They fight a lot of weird battles, Chloe. Way more gang violence, I think one of the mafias has a branch over there, just- just promise me you’ll be careful.”
“I will. Okay? Neither of us are coming home with any new scars. And both of us ARE coming home. You need me to stay on with you for longer? What time is it over there?” Chloe checks her phone to see it’s about 5pm San Francisco time.
Luka looks away, mouth turning into a thin line.
“Luka. What time is it in France right now?” Chloe’s voice goes flat.
“I get the feeling if I say anything you’ll fully wake up and start yelling at me.”
“You’re lucky I don't want to fully wake up either. Go to bed. Whatever fucking time it is.”
She hangs up before he can respond and plops back down onto the bed.
There’s a pause and then Amber’s voice drifts up “Have him tell Dad we made it here safe I forgot to text him.” They add hazily.
“Already hung up.”
“Oh.”
And they’re both back asleep.
But the time then comes when the next day rises to get to work. Amber suggests if they start in places where the shark heroes would often frequent, or at least, the one that had recently, assumedly died. Which leads them on a vaguely touristy tour of a bunch of places in the city, one doing research while the other does more standard touristy things, eventually ending up at the botanical gardens. They linger outside while Chloe huffs and leans back her head onto the backrest of the bench they’re both sitting on, while Amber goes through the list of locations, crossing multiple out.
“Uggghhh this is impossible! Why did we think this would be so easy? Hawkmoth took literal years to find out who we were and he wasn’t even a villain anymore by that point.”
“Well the last Shark wielder, Tiger Shark apparently, was seen fighting a few villains here for his short stint, and before him Mako Shark did a LOT of battles around this area.”
“So what, we're just gonna hopefully run into the new kid or something? What kinda shark is just chilling in front of everyone anyway?”
“I guess we’ll find out, Mako Shark was purportedly killed so maybe Tiger Shark was just a placeholder hero for that new one to come around. Either way if this is Old Order stuff we gotta keep an eye out. Those jerks had a head start on us by a few years while we had to wait to get travel cards.”
“Yeah I know.” But just as Chloe stands up to stretch there’s a yelp and an ‘Incoming!’ before she barely jumps out of the way of a younger Filipino girl on a skateboard. She’s able to stop the board quickly (right about as she cleared the bench) and looked back apologetically. “Sorry ma’am!”
“Watch where you’re going kid!” Chloe hotly fires back, clearly freaked out. “Who even skateboards so close to a building anyway?”
“Sorry!” the kid says again, this time more defensively. “My friend thought it would be a real joke. NOAH!” The girl is off the skateboard and pointedly yells behind Chloe at that. She turns and sure enough another kid with sandy blonde hair, followed by two other girls, one with curly red hair and one with short brown hair approaches, the two girls have the boy trapped between the two of them. He looks sheepish.
“Sorry ma’am. I didn’t see you there. I don’t get to mess with Kit very often.”
The filipino girl, Kit apparently, flips her skateboard up into her hand. “You’re such a punk!” she slugs his arm. “Sorry again, miss.”
“Alright-” the short haired girl chimes in a ‘far too tired’ voice “let’s get out of here before Noah pushes someone else into a stranger and nearly gets them sued.”
“Hey!”
The kids sort of cart the ‘Noah’ kid out, Kit riding along in front of everyone back on her skateboard.
“Ugh, were we ever that young?” Chloe huffs with distaste. “How old were they fourteen?”
“Yeah, same age we became superheroes.”
“That’s fake. Fuck off that’s fake.”
“Well, coming to terms with our age is one thing I'd rather do over dinner, let’s find one of those places that make bread bowls. I want clam chowder.”
“‘Clam Chowder’ in ‘Bread bowls’? Now you’re just saying sounds.”
But around the time the two end up cutting through a more seedy part of town to get to the good restaurants it’s only a matter of course that they’d end up in trouble. Two pretty rich girls in the seedy part of town were just asking for trouble. The obvious confident superhero strut is ignored when they both get cornered by a group of tough looking men, most of which have a black shirt with a sort of sea serpent logo on it.
Chloe and Amber are, of course, not particularly intimidated by these snickering little boys who look at them in a combination of greed and desire. One leans in close to Amber and says they can keep their purse in exchange for a little… testing of the merchandise. Amber punches him in the face.
The thugs begin to pull out knives, ready to make this a problem, but before the twins can show them just how bad of a mistake that was, a blur of gray passes between them. A sort of weapon not dissimilar to nunchaku darting through the air to knock these boys back on their butts, and Chloe in specific notes a mouth of razor sharp teeth and a gray fin sticking out from long dark hair.
By the time the punks are all ran off the shark hero looks to both ladies and gently looks them both over for injuries. “Are you both okay?” she asks with a rocky kind of goofy ‘batman’-esque voice and when Amber nods she smiles. Chirps a quick ‘take care’ and wall jumps up to the roofs. Chloe thinks and brings Shorr out of her pocket, throwing out a hand and telling the Kwami to tail her.
Amber on the other hand transforms quickly, scooping Chloe up and going to follow the Kwami themself. Though they’d quickly lost sight of the shark hero, Shorr is far easier to spot and the little tiger Kwami leads them to a small neighborhood of single family homes. A language neither English nor French sometimes making its way to either of them as they camp out in front of a specific house, Chloe transforming as well soon enough. This is their only lead after all, may as well keep it. The stakeout begins.
But before too long of monitoring the house Cheshire’s ears twitch at a noise. She gets out a tonfa, but when they both nod and turn behind them the gray shark girl appears on the roof behind them both.
“Nicely done.” Bellflower huffs. “Almost didn’t hear you.”
“I don’t appreciate being stalked, I'll have you two know.” The gray suited girl from before glares at the two and we take this moment to take in her appearance, long dark hair that tapers into a slate gray, her coat tail flaring out on either side to imitate a shark’s tail, with a fin sprouting off of the back. Light blue scleras with a pinprick of cyan in place of her pupils. And when she snarls, it’s with a mouth of sharp teeth.
“Shark user.” Cheshire stands and in a sideways shot we see that though the Shark had been standing over the two of them Chloe alone easily dwarfs her upon standing. The shark adjusts her stance and pulls out her own weapon, a pair of sticks with a long chain connecting the two. Bellflower gets to their feet as well and the shark takes a half step back. “What do you want?!” she demands.
“Look, this is gonna sound weird, but-” Bellflower looks to Cheshire whom nods. “We’re…. Like you. Have you heard about the heroes of Paris?”
“Just…. Just that there’s a lot of them.”
“Well I’m Bellflower, and my friend here is Cheshire. And We’re both on Team Miraculous. After we beat our enemies they broke up all over the place and we’ve been trying to track down people that use Miraculous to make sure they’re protected against them. We heard about a family of shark users and we wanted to make sure that you guys were aware of the danger.”
“It’s not like we don’t think you all can’t handle yourselves or anything, but we haven’t seen anything about you ever since Tiger Shark vanished.”
“My father.” The shark wielder provided. “After my Aunt died my father took up the mantle until our matriarch decided I was ready.”
“So it is passed through the family?” Cheshire sums up “Not a very secure system-”
“It doesn’t need to be.” The Shark user shrugs. “My family has the shark tooth, but there’s a lot of us, a lot of cousins and a lot of aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. You can narrow it down to this neighborhood, but you’ve only got one guess before the entire family’s coming down on you with frying pans and since you probably guessed wrong as to who in specific had the sharktooth you’ll have the real Shark on your butt too.”
“....Well when you put it like that it almost sounds like a good idea.” Bellflower huffs.
“So what’s your name then? If your Aunt was Mako Shark and your father was Tiger Shark..”
“Megalodon.” Megalodon answers easily, taking out her weapon again and spinning one of the ends idly. “Not that anyone’s found out yet.”
“You not ready to make your debut yet?” Cheshire wonders and Megalodon huffs, holstering the weapon and glares at the ground.
“Dad’s not ready for me to debut yet. I’m of age! Lola thinks I'm ready! I’m of age! I’m the same age Tiya Vanessa was when she became Mako! But it’s always ‘Noooooo Sinta you’re gonna get in over your head you can’t handle yourself’! Like Tatay! I’m not a child anymore! I’ve been training for years!”
“You probably shouldn’t be saying so many names in your ranting in front of strangers while you’re in mask.” Cheshire states dryly and with a grin.
Megalodon raises a brow. “Tiya Vanessa is dead, it doesn't matter if you know her name.”
“I meant the rest of that.”
“The rest of what?”
“You literally just revealed your name is Sinta.”
Megalodon blinks for a second then laughs. “Oh man! No sorry, that’s not a name, it’s Tagalog! Sinta is just what my father calls me! It’s like uhh… its like ‘Sweetie’ or ‘Honey’”
Now it's Bellflower’s turn to laugh as Cheshire’s face turns a bit red in embarrassment.
But after a moment's pause Megalodon huffs and straightens up a bit. “But to answer your earlier warnings, I haven’t seen anything about those Old Order mooks. Probably too afraid to get near with all the shit that’s already going on around here.”
“That’s not too unlikely, but those guys aren’t anything to take lightly. If your family is still unsure if you’re ready maybe you could pass the information onto them? Or maybe we could organize a meeting that would keep us from knowing their identities?”
“No need. Everyone in the family already knows, if you’re uncomfortable with us knowing you then you can just stay transformed.” As such Megalodon de-transforms herself, revealing her to be that young girl on the skateboard from before. Kit.
“I’ll see if Tatay is home from work yet and I’ll get him updated about you two. If he’s not back yet I'll introduce you guys to Lola. She’s been staying with us ever since I started my training.” Instead of re-transforming Kit heads to the fire escape and at the bottom clangs it once for the ladder to drop with her on it to the bottom. She vanishes into a certain house, and then after a beat re-opens the door, this time a little gray Kwami zipping up to the rooftop and a little shark with teeth (why does this Kwami have a full set of teeth?) greets the two of them.
“The little Guppy says you can head in. Little Wave isn’t back yet, Erlinda is ready for you though. Had a feeling you were coming, she did. Name’s Marr by the way. I don’t think I ever met your Kwamis though. Bee and Tiger, right? Don’t ring a bell. You seem like the good sort though.” Marr’s voice is a little rough and hissy, like a shark indeed. But he guides them to the proper house and in they go.
It’s a very simple Filipino household, a little on the cluttered side with various knick knacks and such, and it smells great inside as an elderly woman stirs something on the stovetop. She has an heir of ease about her.
“Lola, this is Cheshire and Bellflower, they’re heroes from Paris.” Kit introduces, and when the older woman turns to them a long jagged scar is visible on the other side of her face, she’s also blind in that eye. “Miss Cheshire, Miss Bellflower, this is my grandmother Erlinda.”
“Just call me Lola, Sinta, Sinta show these nice girls the couch, I’ll bet they haven’t had dinner yet.”
“I’m uh.. I’m actually not-” Amber starts but they’re both escorted to a comfy if old looking couch.
“Hold on just a minute Ladies. Marr old friend would you mind-?”
“No Kare-kare will ever burn on my watch!” Marr cheers. “Not with such briney, stewie, delicious oxtail in it.” The shark seems to salivate over the stew even as he stirs it.
“I put the scraps in the refrigerator if This one didn’t feed you yet.” Erlinda calls back as she passes by Kit, playfully ruffling her hair as she calls her ‘this one’ and settling in a comfy looking chair beside the girls. “Now, Those costumes must be uncomfortable to sit in, you can detransform if you’d like. It’s plenty safe here.” Erlinda offers.
“No thank you ma’am. Our identities are very important to us.” Chloe waves it off. “But we’re here to warn you all-”
“Of the oncoming darkness, Yes. It’s been coming for some time now.” Erlina cuts them off with a nod. “Kitty, Sinta, get us some of the sweet tea in the refrigerator.” Kit brightens a bit at the nickname and scurries off. “She’s so sweet. Just transitioned last year, but she still reacts like a little girl.”
“Oh! Good for her.” Amber humms. “It took me years to figure my own stuff out about it.”
“Ah, I see. To understand yourself at a young age is a very important gift, and I’m glad our Kitty was able to handle it so well.”
“Uhm… Miss Erlina-” Cheshire eventually cuts in.
“Lola, Child.”
“Lola… I really think we should get back on topic here.”
“Ah, there’s not much point. My Leo will be coming home soon, no point in explaining twice.” She looks off to the door. “That’s him now.” Sure enough the door opens and a gentleman looking old enough to be about the age to be Kit’s father comes in.
“Ina, I’m home.”
“Leonard Mahal, come in and say hello to some French heroes.”
“Ina what are you-” he turns to see Bellflower and Cheshire. “.....Absolutely not.”
“Mahal sit down.”
“No, Ina I will not have a couple of strangers who happen to also be ‘heroes’ coming into my house and putting my daughter in danger.”
“Tatay-!” Kit comes in just then with a tray of sweet tea glasses. “Lola has said i’m ready like, a million times already!”
“It is the time for Kitty to strike fear of the shark back into the world.”
“You don’t know that Ina.”
“Leo Mahal, you don’t know, you didn’t have Marr long enough, my instincts say Kitty is ready.”
“Sir, we’re not here to drag Kit into anything.” Bellflower starts “We just needed to warn you all. She uses a Miraculous, uses Marr, to fight. And there’s this group of enemies that we’ve faced before that have been looking out for Miraculous-”
“Yes, I know about them. Your enemies from your ‘War’. Right? How is it suddenly my daughter’s burden to bear that you all couldn’t keep a lid on your enemies?”
“Sir, it’s not that simple, we were young when the war went on-”
“And she’s young now!”
“Tatay I’m not a kid! I’m not in training anymore! Tell him Marr!”
“Little Wave’s instinct’s never developed, I didn’t have enough time with him.”
“Can you all stop talking about instinct for once? I get it Marr’s the Spirit of ‘Instinct’ but instinct doesn’t mean it’s true! Instinct doesn’t mean my daughter is ready for-”
“Maybe if Kit herself thinks she’s ready and her Kwami does-” Bellflower starts but is quickly cut off.
“You stay out of this! This is a family matter!” Bellflower puffs up and now this is turning into a whole Thing, as Amber kinda sorta starts projecting a little. Chloe makes eye contact with Kit and glances away toward the hallway and the two get up to convene in a slightly quieter area.
“I promise they’re not like this normally.”
“I can’t promise anything about my father so it’s okay.”
“Can we talk somewhere a little quieter?”
“Sure, my room is this one right here.” Sure enough the room is what you’d expect of a slightly sporty teenage girl, the skateboard leaned against the bedframe, a little trans flag in a cup by the window, and a few framed pictures of herself and her friends. She sits in her desk chair and CHloe after a moment’s pause sits on the bed.
“So, Do you guys really intend on me coming to find you all in Paris and helping join the war? Because I don't think I can afford a study abroad program.”
“Of course not. You’re not even established in San Francisco, we’d never ask help from someone so green. If anything, me and Bellflower might stay around for a bit longer to make sure you’re okay. And if there are any of our old enemies in the area to make sure you’re prepared to face them. They’re gonna track you down regardless of if you’ve debuted yet or not, but without any sort of battle experience they’re gonna beat you. They sure as hell got the better of us with even more experience.”
Chloe thinks for a moment and then de-transforms, she removes Shorr’s Miraculous and shows Kit her own scar. “This is a dangerous life, so I can’t really blame your father for not wanting you to be part of it, but unless he takes Marr away from you and takes up being Tiger Shark again it’s not his choice to make.”
“He hated being the shark. But I think he hates even more that it’s my turn now.” Chloe hums and leans forward until her arms rest on her knees.
“Look, Kit. I’m not saying that your Dad is right or wrong. But I am saying that there’s gonna be a lot of people in your life telling you what to do. Who to be, and what you deserve. Some of those people might be right. And some of them are so dead wrong that it’s laughable that they’re trying to convince you at all.
“It’s a pain. It’s gonna screw with your self image.” We briefly see a shot of the Miracle Box before it was stolen. “And it’s gonna happen to you your entire life.” The scorpion medallion replaces the miracle box behind Chloe for a moment. “But it’s YOUR self image that’s under fire. So you’re the one who has the power to tell people to fuck off. And then you can smack them with your nunchucks.”
Kit huffs and slides down in her seat a bit. “They’re Tabak Toyok, not Nunchucks. But… yeah I guess. I mean, I know that much at least.” she huffs a small laugh. “Guess it’s time to put that into my hero life too, huh? How’d you get that scar anyway?”
“Got it in the final battle of the war. One of our enemies had it out for me ever since I played the hell out of him and nearly ended the whole war single handed.”
“What? Oh you’ve GOT to tell me that story!”
The conversation keeps going until the door comes open and Amber, looking a bit exasperated but mostly still pissed off, is on the other side.
“So we just got kicked out of the house. Come on.”
Chloe facepalms and Kit looks between the two apologetically. Chloe grins slightly (if wanly) at her and says that they’ll be in contact. But only if she wants them to. Not if anyone else says for her to be. Chloe makes the point by transforming, and letting the tip of her tonfa shimmer a magenta for a moment.
“Check your phone app when you transform next.”
She salutes and the twins are gone.
We stay on Kit for a bit longer. There’s a knock at her door that sounds firm. Kit throws one of her pillows at the door and demands to be left alone. She ends up in a group call with the other kids from before.
“So like, what level of me ignoring my parents for the rest of the night will you guys be able to cover for so I can sneak out and do some investigating.”
The girl with the brown hair, identified in her username as Evil-Lynn, laughs and holds up her phone. “What dumb conversation about nothing should we have on recording?”
“Ooohh!” The boy, Boxer_Boy as his username says “Do the one about minecraft, she goes into the same rant every time it’ll be easy.”
The red haired girl, username marking her as CinnamonSugarXoXo stifles a laugh. “Or the one about Fraggle Rock. That one’s a classic.”
“Please stop treating my scripted rants about random things to enable my truancy for mysteries as if they’re favorite youtuber videos.”
“But you’re so cute” Evil-Lynn singsongs and Kit looks away, looking embarrassed but fighting off a grin. “Okay fine. Do the… the one about art teachers. I might need a long one tonight.”
So the call is running, but just as Kit is about to climb out the window the door gives a gentle knock. And coming in without allowance is Lola Erlinda. She looks at Kit, halfway out her window and is clearly holding a bowl of the food they were making earlier. She hums, Tells Kit to stay right there. And closes the door behind her, coming back a few moments later with a thermos instead. “You tell those two hero girls to get a spoonful of it too, Sinta.” She hands the thermos to Kit. “And whoever you bust up tonight, remind them that The Riptide might be retired, but she’s still alive.” She smirks at Kit, who grins gratefully back.
“Megalodon will pass along your message!” She chirps back.
We cut then to Kit, fully transformed into Megalodon, but with the thermos held under her arm and a bunch of notes under another as she pulls out her Tabak Toyok, and sure enough when she slides open the screen on one of the handles a purple striped icon is flashing for her.
Cheshire: Test Text
Megalodon: Test Response :P
Cheshire: oh sweet. U wanna do a lil investigating?
Megalodon: hell yea
So Kit, following the GPS coordinates they sent her, ends up on a rooftop not too far from home, her notes drop with an audible ‘thunk’ onto one of those rooftop air conditioners. “Alright, here’s what I have about some cases around the city. This one I feel pretty confident I have an answer to.” Said file is showing a robbery from the De Young art Museum. “The method of entry, guard casualties, and collateral damage point to this being an organized effort. We have a few organized crime syndicates in the area, but not a lot of them. The Masters, the Seamonsters, but they’re more of a street gang than a mob, and uh…” Kit gulps a little. “The Don.”
“The Don?” Amber asks, as they pass Chloe the thermos of stew.
“Don Mariposa.” Kit looks away as the shadowy figure of a faceless woman with a butterfly-like black and orange suit leers over her. “She was my Aunt’s nemesis before she died. It seemed like she was specifically targeting her for years. Doing heists just because she knew it would piss my aunt off that she still couldn’t catch her.” Kit shudders. “I’m gonna hope I don't have to face her myself as my debut, so let’s just hope this is the Masters.”
“Here’s hoping.” Amber agrees. Chloe does notice Kit looking yet more unsettled though as she agrees as well. They said the shark was the Kwami of Instinct didn’t they? And Kit clearly has a bad feeling about this.
But all the same she continues on and says that she’s tracked down the most likely places the exhibit was moved to, and singles out a storage area on the shadier side of the embarcadero. So everyone gets ready and races to the third act.
The warehouse is, you guessed it, crawling with mooks. But we’re fighting normal humans with guns today instead of magical henchmen or anything, so Cheshire and Bellflower look over the entrances and exits. A playful quiet conversation is shared between siblings about how they probably shouldn’t get Mr. Villaruz’s daughter killed on her first real bust. You know, to be safe and all.
But of course, rookie mistake, just as Bellflower turns to where Megalodon had been to tell her the plan, the eager teenager was already gone. She hasn’t been discovered yet, getting in through a window and sliding into the shadows, gray costume blending into the equally slate gray walls.
“There’s no WAY we were that young when we started.” “We were.”
But the fifteen year old is down there, so they have to be too now. There’s some silent investigations when the mooks all chat among each other, and one of the more higher up ones yells at a guard, saying the worst thing for Kit to hear. ‘The Don’ll have your head if you keep horsing around!’ She snarls, mouth of shark teeth glinting in the low light. But thankfully two trained veterans are faster than a rookie, If they’re gonna fight it’ll be on their terms.
“Cacophony!” The sonic boom shakes the ground and the guards all grasp their ears in pain just as Megalodon jumps in, Bellflower at her heels, and Cheshire soon after. With the element of surprise and the immediate blaring sound attack the mooks were unprepared and though it’s a lot of people against only three, it’s not that difficult to keep their own, and the hired guns begin to drop.
Megalodon is a mix of furious and excited, running the gambit with her Tabak Toyok and taking out a few mooks. Not as many as the older heroes, but still enough that she’s feeling pretty good.
And then there’s a blindspot. Her instincts sense dangers (shown as the sound of crashing waves in her POV) and when she turns it’s to the butt of a gun in her face. Megalodon goes down, hard. She’s not unconscious, but she reaches a hand up and her nose is bleeding very badly down her chin. Her nose is probably broken as the jerk grabs her by a handful of hair. “Look at this little girl trying to play hero.” he huffs.
“Megalodon!” “Kid!” (Chloe said ‘Kit’ but its clear everyone around her thought she said ‘kid’)  But both older heroes are swarmed quickly by the rest of the mook squads, giving Kit some one on one time with the man whom bested her.
She glares at him around tear-filled eyes and he smirks. “You look just like the lady before. Mako Shark wasn’t it? You know I was in the room when the Don killed her.” Kit gasps quietly “I was only a grunt myself at the time, but I'll never forget it. She was beautiful; the Don, that is, when she had that shark girl at her feet, pistol to her throat-” he pantomimed the motion with his fingers, pressing his pointer to the underside of his chin. “And you know what she said? She said ‘You’ll live forever when the world hears.’ I had chills.”
Kit’s expression hardens into a scowl. “Intuition-” she growls. The slate gray magic sparks up and down her form, her entire form, solidifying around her foe in splotches. The man stumbles a little, taken aback by the light show, and then light lightning before he can pull his rifle back on her, Kit’s hands dart out, striking the now highlighted areas on his body. The man falls, crying out in pain and letting Kit go. She spits a glob of bloody nose blood at the man and scrubs her nose and mouth. “So the Don killed my Aunt, huh?”
But by the time Kit gathers that particular note of information the red and blue lights of police cards flash in the distance.
The stolen exhibit is secured, the two french heroes are recognized as just that, and all eyes turn to the grey suited hero, so clearly a child in comparison to the rest of the adults around her.
“Well we wouldn’t have even known where to start if it wasn’t for the new shark hero in the city.” Bellflower compliments, and Chloe winks at her when the officer, and then a news reporter both ask her her name, and if she’s truly the next heir of the shark based superhero.
Kit takes a deep breath. “My name is Megalodon. And the city of San Francisco is under my protection from here on out. So If any punks or criminals or anything of the kind want to mess with my city, they’re gonna have to answer to me first.” She punches her fist, her nose is still notably bloody, but for a moment it just makes her look tough.
“And this is also marking an allyship between the Shark of San Francisco, and Team Miraculous of France.” She looks to the two girls and nods. “If ever they need the rending jaws of the ocean’s greatest predator, they need only ask.”
We see a quick montage afterward, Kit getting yelled at by her father, but with Lola Erlinda interrupting before too long and encouraging her. (Kit is notably ecstatic at her grandmother’s approval) Her friends coming over with soda and snacks on what is assumedly the following day, Kit’s nose is all patched up but still an ugly purple shade. Noah makes some sort of exasperated comment and the crew laughs at him. Evelyn looks troubled though, and is texting someone at the end of it. Anna offering Kit a compact and mirror to apparently try and cover up the bruise.
But finally we cut to the night again. And notably Megalodon on a rooftop, she’s stretching and prepping. Lola Erlinda is sitting on a deck chair beside her wrapped in a blanket. And in a flash of light and color Cheshire and Bellflower are there.
“You ready pipsqueak?” Cheshire cracks her knuckles.
“Born ready.”
“Let’s see what you’ve got.” Kit draws her Tabak Toyok and Chloe draws her tonfa, and they begin to spar.
The end.

Miraculous World Rewrite - New York
Across the atlantic there's trouble brewing
We cold open to the sound of keys against a keyboard, ominous clacking against the otherwise silent room. We first see only shadows, fingers darting across a keyboard illuminated by the screen light alone. The glare from the screen reflects against a pair of glasses, but other than that the figure is cloaked in darkness. They clack the keyboard a few more times before speaking.
A young woman’s voice comes out of a crookedly grinning mouth. “Got it.”
A table lamp lights up, illuminating the room--and Alya--in warm yellow tones, she’s sitting in bed with her laptop perched on her knees. And the person with his hand on the lamp is none other than Nino. They both look a decent amount older, having transitioned from teenagers to young adults. Nino squints at her blearily in the light. “Babe, go to bed.”
“I’ll sleep when I'm dead.”
“That’s the PTSD talking. Go. To. Bed.”
“Nino, I think I’ve got something here!”
“So?”
“So… You ever wanted to go to the United States?”
“Not particularly-”
“There’s an amateur music competition coming up~” she sing-songs and Nino cracks his eyes open and glares at her.
“You play dirty.”
“I’m a fox, it’s what we do.”
Nino huffs and curls up a bit until his head is in Alya’s lap “So what’s in New York, other than a shit ton of superheroes?”
Roll Opening Credits
When we open back up we open up to the new base, (the one we described back in Tokyo) and Specifically we focus on a map of the world. There are colored pins in the areas we’ve spelled out was Miraculous holding, and Alya sticks a very noticeable black pin in New York.
Nino’s leaned over a laptop that's perched nearby, scrolling through the pictures with a look of concentration.
“I thought we said we were gonna leave New York alone since they already have a million superheroes?” another voice pipes up, and panning around just a bit to see Rose knitting something on the couch. She glances up at them and tilts her head to the side. “I mean the others are already getting ready for their trips and such-”
“Why do you think they left Luka in charge and not one of us?” Alya counters. “My girl Mari knew something was gonna come up that required our attention.”
“It’s true.” Marinette pops in through the elevator, zipping in and rummaging through a storage closet while she talked. “You know how impossible it is to keep Alya from a case. She already briefed me and Adrien over email and they’ve got our blessin- where is it…” She grumbles a moment longer before pulling out a specific coat from the closet. “Got it! How did it even end up down here? Oh also, how are you guys getting to the states?”
“Amber’s hooking us up, apparently she and Chloe have a cousin about Lycee-ish age who’s willing to let us be houseguests while I ‘Look at NYU’ and Nino ‘competes’”
“Good. I was worried you guys would have to navigate the city on your own.”
“Have a little faith Mari-” Nino huffs “We’re not exactly in college anymore. We know better.”
“I didn’t know Chloe and Amber had a cousin!” Rose pipes up again and this time is joined by Juleka pressing a mug of something steaming to her cheek.
“Yeah I always assumed either of their parents were too unpleasant to have had siblings.”
“Yeah uhhh her name’s Zoe I think.” Alya checks her phone again. “Yeah, Zoe. And… wow she’s like fourteen. She’s a baby.”
“Babe you were a Miraculous wielder when you were fourteen.”
“Yeah but… she’s a BABY”
We smash-cut to our first spot of New York. Specifically a teenage girl with blonde hair partially hidden by a green beanie, she’s talking on the phone. “Mom, I’m fifteen years old, I’m not exactly a baby anymore. I can pick up my cousin’s friends on my own! No, I won't get lost! Yes I will have you on speed dial if anything goes wrong. No, I won't get lost! Love you too. Bye.”
There’s a moment of snickering at her side, and she elbows the source, who only laughs more, adjusting her purse a little from the jostling. “You have to admit it’s nice how much she worries about you, even if we’re doing this as a class.”
Sure enough, there’s a hoard of kids around the same age as the two girls playfully elbowing each other, all talking amongst each other while a couple of teachers are trying to bring back some semblance of order to the group.
“So-” the other girl starts up, leaning in a little closer to Zoe “When are you picking these two up?”
“Basically once we’re home from this stupid field trip.” Zoe rolls her eyes and the other girl laughs. “Don’t give me that Alyssa, you’re just excited because you haven’t been in this state long enough to get tired of this damn museum.”
“Uh huh, sure, totally.” The girl, clearly named Alyssa, mumbles with a wave of her hand, clearly enraptured with the architecture of all things, and Zoe lets out a sigh.
“I lost you already, huh? Come on, before we get left behind.”
With that, Zoe grabs the strap of Alyssa’s purse, and starts tugging the other girl along with her, even as she yelps in surprise and starts trying to get the blonde to let her go. All of those attempts stop when the two reach the exhibit the class was heading for, and her eyes settle on a fancy ring in the glass display box.
One of their other classmates, a girl with dark textured hair pulled back into a ponytail with a bandanna around the top reads the placard out loud, it was supposedly a gift from the Oneida peoples to Marquis de Lafayette during the infancies of the Revolution, some sort of show of good faith between them, and Lafayette used that sort of leadership skill to apparently ‘rouse the people from their fears’ while recruiting for the American forces.
The girl by her side, dark hair in a long braid behind her, snorts and huffs a ‘yeah right’ as the class starts to answer questions. “Which is why it’s here in THIS history museum, and not maybe in one specific to franco native relations, or maybe in Lafayette’s home estates. They made that up to compensate for whoever they stole this from.”
“You really think a Museum would do that?” the bandanna girl responds, but with a playful tone to her voice. “Just steal artifacts from native peoples and tell lies?”
They both chuckle and as the class starts to move on this Alyssa girl stays behind for a moment. She takes out her phone and snaps a few pictures of the ring, before pocketing her Cellphone, pausing, and looking back at her purse. She looks around and sure enough she’s alone so she whispers to the purse.
“Are you sure? Didn’t you say they’re hard to tell when they’re hidden?” there’s a pause and Alyssa huffs “Okay… yeah I trust you.”
“Alyssa!” Zoe calls out and Alyssa’s head pops up, she holds a hand to her lips to shush the assumed Kwami inside her bag and runs into the next room. She nearly collides with a stout boy about her size, they both stumble and she apologizes, he responds in kind and introduces himself as Ryan. She insists she knows. Their teachers said to expect him. “You just moved here too, right?”
“Yeah… I was raised in Alaska.”
“Oh! Inupiat?”
“Yeah! You could tell?”
“It’s the vibe. And I recognized the bracelet as a traditional pattern; I like studying about other tribes sometimes, it seems right that we all understand each other, yeah?”
“Oh, what tribe are you?”
“Hopi actually.”
“You’re a long way from home too, huh?”
“Tell me about it.”
They both laugh and as they continue on with the tour Ryan gets banged into someone else again, this time hard enough to send him to the ground.
“Oh, excuse me, young one.” An older gentleman, like way too old to have so easily knocked Ryan over, offers him a hand up, and Ryan rubs his arm in pain. “I did not see you there.”
“Oh uh… no problem man.” Ryan reaches down and panics, patting his shorts a couple of times, looking around. “Where-!” he finds a little fuzzy thing on the ground. He yelps and the old man looks down at it.
“Oh, is this yours?” he reaches for it but Ryan dives down and grabs it with a quick “yes!” He holds it close to himself before stuffing it into a pocket. “It’s uh… it was a gift, from before I left home. It’s… precious to me.”
“I see….”
The old man continues on his way, as Ryan gets back to his feet, and Alyssa is seen watching this exchange. She makes a humming noise, but Zoe grabs her attention again and pulls her away. But as she pulls away she goes back to her phone, posting one of the taken pictures to a french site and (with the help of google translate) roughly sending out a ‘I don’t know if it’s anything, but Maybe?’ in the captions.
“Do you want me to come with you to pick up these people? I doubt they speak much English…”
“It’s okay, I speak French. Didn’t you say you’ve got something to do today anyway?”
Alyssa looks away, a bit shifty eyed. “Well yeah but-”
“You’re just like my mother sometimes, Lys…I’ll be fine.”
The older man passes by the other pair of girls, and they in particular trade a look, the girl with the braid nodding toward him with a puzzled look, but the girl with the bandanna waves it off with a laugh. We cut from the group there to an airplane door opening later in the afternoon. Alya’s got a backpack and a laptop carrier in her grip as Nino quickly heads down to Baggage claim. “So who are we looking for again?”
“Blonde kid, green beanie.” Alya responds. “But let’s grab your equipment first.” So after one comedic acquisition scene the two are found with Nino’s equipment and their clothes suitcases at the ready, looking around the bustling crowd until Alya makes am ‘aha!’ noise, grabbing Nino and dragging him forward until they ran into Zoe.
Zoe makes a surprised yelp noise when the two approach, but smiles and gives a slight wave. “Uh… are you guys… Cesaire and Lahiffe?” She asks in stilted french. And the two respond in kind, Alya purposefully talking slower, and Nino stumbling his way through English. They exchange pleasantries. Zoe saying that Amber spoke highly of both of them, and how eager she had been to meet some of the people that finally tamed Cousin Chloe.
“Actually I’m a little jealous of the two of them, finally got Amber out of this hellhole and to a place where people love her.”
“New York can’t be all that bad…?” Alya tries “There’s good stuff right? The lights and the hustle and bustle and all of the stuff you hear about?”
“Yeah if you’re a tourist…” Zoe shrugs. “Live here and it's all crowds and traffic jams and subway rats. Is Paris really a dreamy romantic City of Love? Cuz that’s the stuff you hear about it.”
“Oh so it really IS like that in all other parts of the world…” Nino huffs “I thought we were just unlucky…”
Zoe laughs and soon the others follow.
Zoe leads them into the streets, claiming that she wants them to take the subway to get over to her place, but just as they start to head over there’s a huge crashing sound, a crumble of buildings and a few screams. Nino and Alya both jump, hands darting to their Miraculouses, but Zoe seems unperturbed. “Oh, it’s just Gigavolt again…” she mutters. “Come on, he never makes it past Knightowl and Sparrow.” she gestures for them to follow her, but Alya shoots Nino a grin and Nino groans. Next thing Zoe knows her french charges have deposited the equipment with her and are running in the direction of the fight.
As expected of a New York Superhero set piece it’s all flashy and fancy, as the lightning based villain does battle against the dark brown suited hero and sidekick. We follow them for a while to see Sparrow roll onto the rooftop and Knightowl places a hand on their back before Sparrow sort of shoves them off of them and gets back into the fight. But just as Sparrow is just about to get knocked down again a blast of energy zips up from below and hits Gigavolt in a pack on his back, making the supervillain’s powers seem to short circuit and they fall from the sky. Sparrow reaches the edge and throws a small gadget to the ground with such speed it beats the supervillain down and inflates a cushion for him to land on. Sparrow also dives off the side, though Knigthowl is clearly trying to keep them from doing so.
“Gigavolt, you’re under arrest for felony larceny, as usual. You have the right to remain silent-” as Sparrow starts the whole spiel they glance over to see a purple suited cyborg standing at the edge of the cushion, her open palm trained on Gigavolt.
“I could have handled it, Uncanny Valley.”
“You always say that but Knightowl wouldn’t have to baby you if you weren’t always taking risks!” Uncanny Valley responds, looking a bit put out. She lifts a hand and one of her fingertips comes off to reveal a small blade underneath, she slashes at the cushion and it quickly deflates.
“Knightowl just doesn’t want to admit that I’m better at this than they were at my age!” They huff and force Gigavolt to his knees. “You wanna try to break out of what they have cooked up for you this time GigaDolt?”
“How Original.” Uncanny Valley rolls her eyes (her one purple robot eye glitching with the motion. “You know you’re not making a very good hero look if you keep being so mean to your opponents.”
“They’re Villains Uncanny! What am I supposed to do?”
“We’re heroes Sparrow, can you at least try to-”
“SPARROW!”
“Crap.” “Ohhhh now you’re in for it. I’ll Take Gigavolt from here, you make a run for it.”
“Thanks…”
“What are friends for? Now go!” Sparrow turns heel and runs off, Knightowl in hot pursuit going on about how much trouble Sparrow is in.
Alya is of course filming all of this with a big grin and barely contained laughter. “Ah man, they look like us when we were kids…” she mutters. “Listen to that banter.”
“They’re talking too fast. I didn't catch it.”
“You guuuyyysss!” Zoe calls out, flagging Nino down again and having him drag Alya back “You guys can’t just leave your stuff anywhere! This isn’t a cartoon!” Alya is sheepish at the chiding and Nino is protectively double and triple checking his stuff. Finally all in order they descend into the subway, and Zoe looks back one last time at Uncanney Valley before she’s out of sight. “You guys really don’t have to make that big of a deal about superheroes. They’re pretty common around these parts.”
“Like, yeah sure we’ve got a lot of supervillains to match them, but we’ve got aliens, AI, whatever the hell Knightowl and Sparrow actually ARE god knows those two have been around for literal centuries.” she huffs. “I’ve heard a lot of stuff about you guys’ Team Miraculous, but they’re like… all from the same group of magic aren’t they? There’s a lot of different kinds of heroes around here.”
“Well yeah!” Alya pipes up “I know about Knightowl and Sparrow, who wouldn’t? And Uncanney Valley is new on the scene, but she’s some kind of cyborg or Android, and she was apparently trained by Majesta wasn’t she?” Alya begins to rattle off hero factoids to a politely interested Zoe.
“The heroes are doing their best to keep up the peace. There are some things that the law systems just can’t keep up with, and… sometimes they just don’t know better anyway.”
“Don’t we know it.” Nino laughs. “I’m pretty sure if you put a lot of what Team Miraculous got up to during the war under a microscope Our Favorite Heroes wouldn’t be coming out of it looking too hot either.” But when he speaks he does so with a distant sort of expression. Alya’s own gaze darkening before she huffs and brushes it off with a “Man I cut so many classes just to keep Paris updated about the goings on of the world back when I was your age Zoe-”
The conversation goes back to a light nature as Zoe then asks how long they’re planning on Staying in New York. To which Alya responds for the next couple of weeks, rattling off their assumed alibis of the competition and NYU. Zoe brightens up at the Amatur Music competition, saying that one of her classmates is entering as well.
“This girl I have history with, Jessica Keynes, and she’s going to be playing her guitar. She’s REALLY stiff competition. She's been playing since she was like eight.”
Nino laughs. “So have I, we shall see who is the ultimate rocker then!”
We cut very quickly to that night, as Nino and Alya are settling in for the night, Alya complaining that she’s ACTUALLY TIRED right now this is absurd, and Nino is clearly wired up from jetlag. He asks after the location of their little Black Thumbtack, when it was last spotted at least, and Alya yawns and pulls out her phone. “A man wearing the crest of the Old Order; Tsering Wan’s--may he rest in hell--stupid ‘family crest’... was spotted by someone whom follows the ladyblog in…. Manhattan I think?”
“And where are we now?”
“Manhattan I think.”
“Sweet. I’ll work off some jetlag and do a scope out of the area, you have anything more concrete than ‘some guy in Manhattan?’”
“Uhhhhh Older Chinese man probably, he was lingering around this one museum of revolutionary history uhhh…. ‘The Elizabeth Hamilton Museum of American History’”
“I’ll check it out.” but as Nino suits up, before we can see his Adult Costume we cut to the same museum, and a pair of shadowy figures approach the closed building.
But we timeskip before we can discover anything about it.
Instead, when we return, it’s to a yawning Nino, it seems he worked off his jetlag and then some, but he’s still awake enough to set up his gear and practice in the competition hall. He’s on the phone as he enters, getting some harsh looks from others practicing, and Alya’s laughter can be heard as he wishes her luck on her “tour” before hanging up.
His attention is caught by someone playing an acoustic guitar, sitting on the edge of the stage as she does so, and he idles rather than begin to bring his gear up there and distract her. When she finishes, he claps awkwardly around his armful of gear.
The girl looks up and sure enough it’s the girl with the dark braid from earlier. She jolts and sort of looks away awkwardly. Seemingly to try and hide behind her guitar.  He states that it was beautiful. He can tell she works very hard. She still seems nervous and asks if he’s trying to psych her out or something, you know, make her nervous or something. She’s got rock solid nerves; she's not so easily cowed. (though her hands are shaking on the neck of the guitar) Nino gets up and sits on the edge of the stage with her (after setting down his things carefully) and asks if she needs to talk about it. She uh… she looks like he did during his first gig.
She continues to cling to her guitar and responds that she doesn’t have as much time to practice as some of these kids to, her room isn’t exactly soundproof so she can’t just stay up late practicing or anything, and… well she loves her aunt, but the family business takes up all of their combined time, she feels like she doesn’t have any options in how to be her own person. She’s gonna be under her Aunt’s training until the day she takes over for her with the business, and that’s her future, no matter what. She sort of laughs wryly and says her friend Aeon tells her she’s always trying too hard to break away but she doesn’t get it. If they’re not driving out to do Tribe things it’s always Business Time. She wants to do her own thing for once.
“Tribe things?”
“We live pretty far from the reservation so every weekend or so we drive out to my hometown to help the community. Keeps us connected.”
“I get it. Makes sense. Certainly a quicker drive than New York to Paris.”
“What brought you to the states anyway? I’ve ranted at you enough, stranger.”
“It’s Nino. And your name Mademoiselle?”
“Jessica. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you. But uh… My girlfriend and I have been scoping out universities, we’ve been together since college-”
“College?”
“Uhh… the school phase after primary? Before Lycee?”
“....Middle school?”
“Sure.”
“Sorry, go on.”
“Right uh, she was interested in NYU and I have to wait a little longer to look into the art schools in the area so I figured I’d do the competition while I was in the area.”
“Tell her not to waste her time, NYU’s a shithole.”
“Woah, language.”
“I’m a New Yorker. We learn our swear words when we learn to read. So you must be pretty passionate about music too to waste your time in every competition huh?”
“I suppose so. It was always between music and directing, but I have way less opportunities to do films than I do with music.” Nino’s look gets a little distant. He unrolls one of his sleeves and Jessica spots a gnarled looking scar on his arm, the one you may remember him retaining in the finale. “Music got me and my friends through some really rough times.”
“Woah, when’d you get that?” Jessica puts her guitar into the traveling case as she asks.
“You might have been too young I dunno how old you are but… You know how a few years back Paris had this whole ‘war’ going on between Team Miraculous and a bunch of magical supervillains?”
“That was only a couple of years ago, yeah I know about it…Knightowl apparently kept a lot of heroes from going over there themselves. They couldn’t chance someone like Hawkmoth corrupting someone who has powers on their own.”
“Yeah uh… it was a time certainly. Things have quieted mostly, but back then it was… stressful I guess. Troubling. My music gave me a sense of stability. And hey, I only ever got akumatized once!” he winks at Jessica who looks a little uncomfortable but grins back a little after a beat.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what was it like?”
“Oh no worries, it was only like the very START of things, and to tell the truth I don’t remember like any of it. My best bud wasn’t allowed to have a birthday party because his old man was working through some stuff and was being a jerk about it, and he was a real jerk about it when I tried to convince him. I got really pissed off and then I was waking up near the eiffel tower with a couple of superheroes standing over me.”
“Huh…”
“Yeah uh, it was certainly something to live through. I guess continuing my music career gave me something to hold on to. You know?”
“Yeah I get it. It’s like a control thing.” but before they can continue on, a phone chime comes off of Jessica and she sort of jolts “Well! I guess I won’t keep you from practicing! I gotta take this.” she grabs her guitar case and shoulders it, giving a jaunty wave and a ‘good luck!’ before darting backstage. But she doesn’t reach for her phone. Reaching down to the pendant around her neck and popping it open. A strange message pops onto the small screen inside, asking if she wants to live under her master’s shadow forever or do something for herself for once. And then beneath the message, co-ordinates.
So she huffs, and puts her guitar in the designated ‘equipment goes here’ room and calls up a friend. “Hey Aeon, I’m gonna do some teen rebellion, can you cover for me? Thanks.”and sure enough when she’s in a more secluded area she presses a button on her communicator and in a flurry of brown and white fabric, Sparrow stands in her place, looking around for just a moment before throwing a grappling hook and ascending into the buildings around.
It’s twilight again when Sparrow arrives at the Museum, the same shadowy figure from before standing in the foreground yet entirely hidden in shadow. “Sparrow.” They greet.
“How’d you get hold of my communicator frequency?” She asks in lieu of greeting.
“Magic.” The figure lifts their hands and wiffles their fingers a little dramatically. “Honestly it’s best not to question it.” They take a step into the dim light, and it’s a brown suited hero, her hair pulled into a bun, with a pair of ribbons that look similar to long ears falling from the base of it, and a pair of antlers perched on her head. “I’m Jackalope.”
“New kid on the block huh?” Sparrow huffs “Well I’m not very interested in joining some Teenage Superheroes Only Team so Sorry for telling you you wasted your time but-”
“Actually, I was hoping for your help. You uh… you know those heroes in Paris? The ones with magical objects?”
Sparrow stiffens a little before answering sort of noncommittal, yeah Knightowl keeps an eye on a lot of things. What’s your point? Jackalope pushes the armwarmers over her forearms up a little to show Sparrow a bracelet on her wrist. She’s got the same type of setup. When she found it, the spirit inside told her a little about their story, apparently when the Europeans came to this side of the world, many many tribes and nations and kingdoms had at least one of their own of them, but when the spaniards absolutely ruined the Aztecs and somehow managed to destroy their Spirit’s home and physical presence, they grew fearful of their own relics being destroyed and began to hide them away. Most refuse to come out of a hidden form unless given to a member of their peoples of origin. Her spirit was one hidden away and forgotten at the start of all of this. And she wants to find these lost relics, these Miraculous, and return them to the peoples that had to leave them behind.
Sparrow asks what any of that has to do with her, and Jackalope walks toward the museum. “My spirit, she was able to ascertain that one of the items in here is a relic, a Miraculous like mine. Given to Marquis de Lafayette by the Oneida tribe as an inherent camouflage. It wouldn’t awaken for him, and thus would be kept safe should anyone who would come looking for it until the time came for it to be retrieved.”
“Oh so you’re robbing a museum. Clever idea to tell a superhero before you try it. How would you even know any of this?”
“My Miraculous contains the spirit of Destiny. Things that will always happen. She hasn’t been wrong yet, and she told me that the Eagle’s claw ring will awaken here.”
Sparrow crosses their arms and huffs. “Well… I don't believe this about as far as I can throw it, but surely if I try to take you down right now you’ll just turn this into a running thing and that’ll be annoying. So I’ll come with, and I’ll test out if your stupid ring is a magical device. And when it’s bullshit I don’t have to worry about you making off with a historical artifact.”
“Do what you need to to feel safe.” Jackalope says with a shrug. She takes out her weapon, a sort of lasso-like rope, and Sparrow takes out their grappling gun, when they’re both distracted by a shout. And like the heroes they both are, completely forget the planned heist to run in the direction of the fearful young man who let it out.
Sure enough it’s the same boy that we saw way back when, the one from Alaska who’d bumped into the old man. He’s struggling with a man dressed in an ornate black and white robe, one arm missing a sleeve with a sparkling arm band around it. He’s demanding in a hissing voice ‘where it is’ and Ryan is insisting he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Jackalope more acting on instinct shouts an aggravated ‘Hey!’ and distracts the old man just long enough for Ryan to escape his grasp. She and Sparrow both run forward, Jackalope grabbing Ryan as he passes her by and asking if he’s hurt while Sparrow descends on the older man.
Sparrow does well but she’s clearly too brash with her approach, eventually the man is able to trap her in a bad exchange and knock the wind out of her. Which is when Jackalope tenses and puts herself between Ryan and the man. Their exchange is fast and tense as the man tries to get her out of the way, but during a certain move he grabs her forearm and humms. “Ah I see… the Virtue of Destiny.” Jackalope jolts and springs back a bit and it’s quick enough for the man to throw her out of the way. But just as he’s about to descend on Ryan again Sparrow comes back in, getting a solid hit in. Now she and Jackalope are fighting together.
Though it seems he just won’t go down. No matter what they hit him with at once or with what, he just keeps getting back up. Ryan, now more than a little afraid, gets a pale hand placed on his wrist and when he turns the figure pulls him into the shadows of a nearby building. It’s in fact Zoe. And Ryan recognizes her as such. The rich girl from their school at least.
They speak quietly, Zoe telling him to keep quiet and to let Jackalope and Sparrow handle this guy, Ryan asking how she knew that rabbit-suited girl and Zoe answering sort of evasively, also not a rabbit a Jackalope, totally different. Ryan responded in a hushed yell that that just raises MORE questions! Zoe waves him off though, insisting that Jackalope and Sparrow will handle this, she’ll keep him safe. Ryan looks back to the fight, then back to Zoe and reaches into his pocket, pulling out that thing that had fallen out of his pocket earlier, revealed now to be a furry ear cuff earring in the shape of a bear’s paw. He says after a moment, that he can do something too. He clasps the cuff onto his ear and takes a deep breath. “Tuuquu Transform me!”
There’s a flash of white that gets sucked into the cuff earring, too fast for Zoe to track, and then he’s transformed, joining the fray just as Jackalope is knocked back for a moment.
And you know, Jackalope might have clearly been pretty beginner at this, but she was somewhat holding her own, but Ryan, when transformed, striking with bear claws attached to his suit, clearly is even less prepared for battle than her and sort of… really makes a fool of himself here. The man makes quick work of him and would have otherwise made a grab for his cuff if Sparrow hadn’t come in right when she could and grabbed him, hefting him over her shoulder and grabbing Jackalope by her lasso and dragging the two of them off into a retreat. The man loses sight of them quickly and grunts in frustration but when he heads in the direction they’d been he passes by the shadow Zoe had been in, and she vanishes before he can see her.
We hold on Zoe for just one more second in the shadows, she huffs and pulls out her phone. “Hey Aeon, it’s Zoe, look this is gonna sound weird but I’m with my girlfriend tonight and I need an Alibi, can my cover story be that I’m working on a project at your house? Thanks.”
But we cut back to the heroes before too long, Sparrow carrying Ryan and dragging Jackalope behind her until they’re far enough away for the poor girl to catch her breath. Which she does, dropping the two onto a rooftop and standing upright. She puts a hand over her goggles before grunting and shoving Jackalope. “Uhm. EXCUSE ME?! What the FUCK was that!?”
Jackalope stumbles more than you'd expect for only being shoved, eyes still wide, face turning slack-jawed now that the three are out of danger. It seems to take her a second to process she’d been shoved at all, her eyes checking her wrist (as if still being transformed isn’t proof enough that the man didn’t take her Miraculous), and then looking at Ryan, who offers a wave.
“HEY!” Sparrow shouts again, pushing a hand against Jackalope’s shoulder and keeping it there, dragging the other girl’s attention back to the hero. “Answer me!”
Taking a deep breath in, her eyes seem less ‘deer-in-headlights’ in appearance when she finally speaks up. “Remember how I talked about those heroes in Paris? Do you know about the war that was being documented on that one site, Ladyblog? That guy was wearing the symbol of the group they were fighting.” Her eyes darted down to her Miraculous again. “He knew what my Miraculous was… If you hadn’t been there, I don’t know what would’ve happened…”
She glances back up at Sparrow, and offers a shaky smile that just looks off with the scared look in her eyes. “I don’t have any answers, not really, but thank you for answering my message.”
Sparrow huffs and groans, kicking at the corner of the rooftop before sighing. “Ugh. Fine. FINE.” She finally shouts. “New supervillain. Easy. Easy and fun. New Superhero after magical objects. Simple, Understandable. New Supervillain and a new ‘hero’ who may still just be a cat burglar with a weird gimmick and Some Guy who just has a magical item and both are so green that I’M the most experienced person in the room. Fine. Fine!” She huffs for a moment longer before taking out one of her weapons, a collapsible staff, and grabs Ryan under the jaw with it, tilting his head up. “Explain.”
“Wha?”
“How’d you get your little magic item. Explain.”
“...oh!” Ryan jolts in realization and nods. He takes off the ear cuff and quickly transforms back, a little white Kwami zipping out. “Well when my family was about to leave Alaska, one of my friend’s mothers said that I’d helped out so much with babysitting while she and his dad were off doing Adult things, and she gave it to me as a way to remember my people and remember Alaska when I was gone.” As usual for these types of stories we zoom out to be able to see pictures depicting these exact events behind the three on the rooftop. “Then in my first week here uh… New Yorkers are really aggressive drivers.” The image shows Ryan barely dodging a car that was plowing through the streets. “Tuuquu says that she’s the embodiment of the concept of the afterlife, and people can’t prove themselves until they cheat death while in possession of her.”
Tuuquu then speaks up, voice a soft whisper yet somehow loud enough to be heard. “My little snowball is the first worthy wielder I've had in centuries! That ruffian that tried to take us would never be worthy with a power that doesn’t let him brush with death. I’d be useless in his possession anyway.” Ryan thinks for a moment longer before looking at Jackalope. “Did yours need that kind of trial too? Not gonna lie, it kind of scared me out of doing anything with it until today.” Jackalope however doesn’t seem to be paying attention, she’s pushed back her arm warmer again to look at her bracelet, toying with the gems along the length of it.
“Whuh?” she asks after a pause. Sparrow shakes her head. “I’m calling Knightowl.”
But before she can open her communicator a small orange glow lights up the night, forming a little fox seemingly made out of sparkling light. It pokes its nose against where Sparrow’s nose is and closes the communicator with a paw, the fox trotting on the air and breezing past Sparrow, approaching Jackalope and Ryan, seeming to smell either of their Miraculouses before letting out a happy little ‘chirrup’ noise. It prances forward until climbing up the arm of its summoner, resting on Rena Rouge’s shoulder. We now see her and Carapace make their appearance, in their new and improved adult costumes.
“Hey kids, sorry to interrupt but we’re on the lookout for someone that I’m pretty sure just came your guys’ way.”  Rena chirps, and Carapace looks around the rooftop for a second longer before shooting Rena a thumbs up. “Okay good. So…Word on the street is one of our enemies has been spotted near the area. One of the ones from Paris’ war.” Though the knowing look says she already knows. “You folks seen an old man with a magic item nearby?”
“Probably harassing perfectly innocent magic item wielders-” Carapace joins in
“Probably down for child murder.” Rena continues. “And you’re a bunch of literal infants-”
“Hey!” Ryan shouts
“So we’re here to help.”
Sparrow scoffs. “Fine. I wasn’t exactly excited to get lectured by Knightowl anyway. It’s your villain I guess. So what are they? Jackalope said something about that war you guys fought in?”
Rena sighs and looks to Carapace “You wanna go for it Pace?”
“Nah I already trauma dumped on a child a few hours ago. I’m good.”
“You know I'm starting to think the idea of getting a therapist for the team might be a good idea- Anyway… sit down everyone--you too Sparrow--because this is quite the story. And it started a couple of hundred years ago, with our team’s mentor, and even the kindest intentions can start the greatest calamities.” We know this story of course, so we don’t linger too long on that.
We in fact cut right then back to Our girl Zoe, she’s grumbling over something on her phone, still hidden in the shadows of buildings, when a dark figure approaches. Zoe yelps and whips out a taser, the prongs sparking with electricity. Before the figure raises her hands. “Zoe! Zoe! Calm down, it’s me!” Zoe blinks and raises a brow “Aeon? I thought you were at home! That’s why I asked you to-”
“Cover for you? Yeah I’ve been getting that request a lot tonight.” If you’ll remember her, Aeon is shown to be the girl with the bandanna from all the way back earlier.  “But uh… I've actually got some stuff to do tonight, and…” She thinks for a second before sighing. “Zoe look, I know whoever you’re backing up right now has your trust, but I actually need to be covered for tonight more than you do. So please, go home.”
Zoe looks offended for a second, and then looks back up at the rooftops before looking away bitterly. “I guess I wouldn’t be any real help anyway.” She thinks for a second longer before patting Aeon’s shoulder. “Whatever you’re doing then, be safe. I know we don’t talk a lot but I’d be really sad if you weren’t in class tomorrow.”
Aeon smiles back at her, before Zoe calls up the family chauffeur, seeing her off with a wave. Aeon takes a breath and looks up at the same rooftops Zoe just was, but her left eye glows a striking violet. “Jessie for god’s sake…” she mutters to herself, before pressing something on the inside of her wrist, in a hologram-like flash Aeon’s street clothes fade away and are replaced with the uniform of Uncanny Valley. She messes with her hair until it’s in a high ponytail instead of the low one, and throws out her arm, her hand extending on her wrist to grab hold of a building which she quickly begins to scale.
Right when Uncanny Valley reaches the rooftop it’s at the very end of Rena’s story, the older hero gently fingering her foxtail Miraculous and looking away with a dark expression, Carapace looking equally grim. “-The Old Order isn’t gone, and the ones we ran into aren’t the only ones who survived the war, so we’ve been on the look out for anyone with that crest. And that man you described… he’s probably one of them, especially if he was making swipes for Your Polar Bear Friend’s Miraculous and Jackalope’s.”
Rena thinks for a second. “Would it be too personal to ask what your Miraculouses are?”
Jackalope looks uncomfortable for a second before Ryan answers, strikingly casual. “Nah. Tuuquu’s the… Kwami did you say? She’s the Kwami of the Afterlife. She told me that her power lets me draw on the wisdom and memories of great magic wielders that came before.”
“I uh…” Jackalope looks to Ryan then back at Rena. “I have uh… Loppe. They’re the Kwami of Destiny. They let me uhm… see into the future, but only the things that will for sure happen no matter what. Things that can’t be changed.”
“Not super combative powers…” Sparrow huffs “AND you’re both green. This is gonna be-!” She cuts herself off before seeing her friend. “Uncanny!”
“Oh hey Sparrow.”
“Oh thank god, Uncanny get over here I need to have someone who knows what they’re doing in my vicinity.” Sparrow runs over and helps Uncanny to the rooftop. “Ugh, You will not BELIEVE the evening I’ve had.”
“I can guess…”
Rena coughs pointedly into her hand and Sparrow looks at her before looking back at Uncanney. “Oh.. right. Uh… This is my friend Uncanny Valley, Uncanny, this is uh… Rena Rouge and Carapace, two of the-”
“Two members of Team Miraculous, I am aware. It’s nice to meet you both. And you two are?” She looks at the two, Ryan at this point has re-transformed and thinks for a second. “I’m uh… Glacier. Yeah, Glacier. Cuz I’ve got a polar bear.”
Jackalope pauses for a second, then sort of sighs, leaning heavily on her knees and shooting a wry grin “I’m Alyssa.”
“You guys know you shouldn’t just be telling people your real names, right? Or removing your magical artifacts? Some heroes may be more cavalier with their identities but not to that degree…” Sparrow huffs “Uncanny, can you do that thing where you don’t scare people as much as I do? I should still tell Knightowl about all of this before they just… you know… FIND OUT.”
“You mean, ‘be nice to people’? Yeah I can do that.” Sparrow puts a hand to their nose and waggles their fingers, to which Uncanny sticks her tongue out.
Sparrow turns away and opens a connection to Knightowl, but just as she does so an explosion half the city away rocks all of them a bit. And as Sparrow patches through the first thing she hears is ‘Can’t talk right now, Jailbreak. Stay safe with your friends. I’ll talk to you later.’
And then the line goes dead. Sparrow grumbles and tries to call again, but no answer. Knightowl either broke their communicator, or turned it off. She curses harshly and pockets it again. “Okay fine. So we catch this guy, your enemy or whatever, we what, use Glacier to draw him back out? He’ll expect that. He’ll know it’s a trap.”
Jackalope thinks for a second before standing up. “Not unless he thinks we’re busting him first.”
Sparrow looks over at her, tilts her head to the side. “Oh you don’t mean-”
“You have any better ideas?”
“Wait, what are you guys talking about?” Uncanny asks worriedly. To which Jackalope describes her initial reason for being here, the eagle talon ring. And Sparrow responds again that just in case this is some kind of bullshit long con she’ll in fact be testing if it’s a real magic object or not. Alyssa ending it with the idea that this Old Order Guy was probably in the area because he was looking at the same ring and just happened to run into Glacier too.
“Wait-” Says Rena after a beat. “So you were planning on breaking in and stealing an item with massive historical significance?”
“Yeah.”
“I knew I had a good feeling about you.”
In a way not dissimilar to the ML heists of yore, we start on a shadow of Rena Rouge on the scene, blowing a note on her flute to put a bunch of small dark shadows over the security cameras, and Carapace close to the shadows as he peers into the museum. Uncanny unlocks the physical locks, disabling the alarm in the process, but as they all enter it turns out that that was unneeded as the Old Order man was already there. He’s carefully striding through the exhibits and followed quickly by Sparrow at his heels yet out of sight. And when he arrives at the eagle claw, as if by accident, he spots Jackalope and Glacier in the reflection off the glass. He lashes out with his weapon, a scimitar, and it makes connection with Glacier's claws, he looks about as surprised as the Older man that he was able to catch it, but just as the clang rings out Jackalope throws her lasso around an unrelated exhibit, tipping over some prop replicas and making the alarms go off. And once they’re blaring in everyone’s ears she shouts ‘NOW!’
And the other more experienced heroes descend. The combination of Uncanny’s technology, and Rena and Carapace’s battle prowess leaves the old man very distracted indeed as Jackalope and Glacier approach the ring case. Glacier sort of nervously puts his claws on the edge of the glass and rotates his hand in an uneven circle, the glass disk pulling away with him. And Jackalope looks into the case, about to reach for it before looking back “Sparrow!” Sparrow looks over from her part of the fight and huffs. “What?!”
“We had a deal. This is on you!”
Sparrow looks back at Jackalope, then at the ring. She pulls away from the fight, Jackalope tagging in (less coordinated of course but she’s holding up) and approaches the ring. She barely looks at Glacier before reaching a hand in. “This ring was from the Oneida tribe.” She says quietly.
“Yeah, given to Marquis de Lafayette, right?”
“If it’s real it was to hide it from someone who could use it. Probably only another Oneida.”
“Would it work on you then?” Glacier raises a brow at her, to which Sparrow closes her fingers around the talon-
And in a flash of light a little Kwami stretches and yawns. The Old Order man finds an opening through Jackalope and lunges forward, but just as he does there’s a burst of light.
And Sparrow stands there no more.
In Sparrow's place stands a young woman with hair in wrapped braids, a feathered cloak, and in her hands a seemingly wooden bow catching the man’s hand.
“... That doesn’t belong to you, little girl.”
“I get the strange feeling that it’s more partial to me than it is to you.” She responds. “I wonder what this thing does…” she says with a small chuckle.
The fight continues, Rena, far more excitedly begins to direct the kids. Limbs and weapons going every which way, but just as before, the man is simply not going down. The children start to quip off of each other, Jackalope cheering that Sparrow grew up to be an Eagle, Glacier wondering out loud how this team up is gonna go, Uncanny Valley huffing and puffing about being the only non-magical kid in this team up right now. And of course Carapace and Rena flirting outrageously with each other.
The man doesn’t go down, but they are able--at Rena’s behest--to corral him into a more heavily armored location, to which Rena signals Uncanny who reactivates the security measures and traps him behind slamming bars.
The children all look at eachother and Sparrow, now that we can see some of her face, pinches her expression into a sort of pout, looking away and huffing. “Good hustle I guess.”
“That’s ‘Sparrow’ for ‘thanks’” Uncanny Valley chirps, bumping her shoulder against hers. “Now, what do we say next?”
Sparrow looks away further, now scowling. “.....Sorry I thought you were a thief Jackalope.”
“It’s okay…” Jackalope laughs quietly, especially as Uncanny grins widely at Sparrow and coos about how proud she is. Sparrow looks away, face turning dark with a blush. “God! You’re worse than my Aunt!” She finally shouts even as Uncanny grabs her and pulls her into a hug from the back.
But Sparrow takes off the ring and the transformation undoes itself around her, turning back into her usual Sparrow look. “Sorry for waking you and immediately putting you to work uh…”
“Nyoote.” the eagle Kwami responds. “I am the Kwami of Courage! And it’s wonderful to meet my new wielder, Sparrow was it?”
“It’s uh…” she looks over to Rena and Carapace. “It doesn’t matter actually.” She moves to hand the Miraculous to them. “These guys are gonna need you more than I do.”
Carapace looks about to take it from her, but loosely closes her fingers back around the ring. “Keep him. We just need to make sure they stay out of the Old Order’s grip. We’re not looking to take other people’s cultural artifacts ourselves.”
“Besides, didn’t Jackalope say she was hoping to return your guys’ artifacts back to their peoples? That’s way more useful than us keeping them in a box hoping they don’t need to come out. ‘Pace and I were just here to prove some theories and take care of this guy.  I think you guys have some real potential myself. Learn to use your powers, all of you. And when you think you can do it, contact us. Okay?”
The three magic-wielding children look at each other and then look back at the two and nod. “I’ll keep an eye on them.” Uncanny agrees with a nod. “I’ve been helping this one with her people skills since she became Sparrow, I can train the others too.” She puffs up her chest and Sparrow yanks the bottom of her mask off to stick her tongue out, which Uncanny returns.
We see a brief timeskip from here with a bit of music that sounds like it could possibly be a new theme song playing over it, first of Zoe re-entering on an undisclosed street corner and borderline tackle hugging a de-transformed Alyssa (and sneaking a kiss to the girl’s cheek), the competition, Jessica playing her guitar and singing, Nino mixing on his turntables, Alya touring through a school, Aeon on the phone with several names on a list titled ‘people who are “at my house,’’ Ryan fiddling with the ear cuff and speaking quietly to Tuuquu. Tuuquu snacking on a can of anchovies.
It turns out that Jessica won the bronze in the competition and Nino the silver, but they both sort of sigh in good nature when it turns out neither of them won, passed over for some other white boy with a decent voice.
Then we cut to a sort of ‘that night’ when the children all make their way to the same rooftop as before. Jackalope carrying Zoe on her back, Sparrow with the eagle on her finger but not transformed.
“Uhm, excuse me, who’s that?” Sparrow asked sort of testily.
“Oh, this is my Secret Keeper Zoe. If we’re going to be covering for eachother then she should know too.”
“I’m rich I can cover in ways Aeon Anderson can’t.”
“Rude.” Uncanny Valley huffs, and with the flicker of a hologram she’s there. “I cover for way too many people, granted I'm doing hero work too.”
“Really? We’re just going to get started on this?” Sparrow asks, but just as she does so Alyssa and Ryan detransform, their Kwamis eagerly introducing themselves to each other.
Sparrow yanks off her mask and sure enough Jessica Keynes rolls her eyes at the lot of them. “I’m surrounded by incompetence.”
“Admit it, Jessie,” Aeon chirps, swinging her arm around her in a half-hug, “you love us!~”
“Hideous. I feel nothing.” Jessica pushes Aeon away from her a bit.
“Oh also! This is super weird but-” Aeon cuts back in “Can Kwamis not be detected by technological means? Because I can only see our cute little friends out of one eye and it’s not the robot one.” she proved her point by winking either eye with Nyoote hovering over her.
We slowly pan back as the kids chat, to show Carapace and Rena Rouge watching from a distance.
“So what do you think?” Nino asks quietly.
“I think it feels absolutely absurd that we were their age when we first started out.” Alya responds, just as quiet, but there’s a sort of deep sadness in her voice. “I mean… were we ever REALLY that young? I guess we can only hope they won’t be facing as much as we did at that age, huh?”
“Somehow I get the feeling they’ll be okay.” Nino looks up and a shadow passes over them both “If only because they’ll have a little more guidance.”
Knightowl descends on the group shouting “SPARROW!”
“Ah crap, SCATTER!” The kids all run away from the furious superhero, all of them laughing and taking various magical or practical ways out. Jackalope lassoing another building, Glacier tipping backwards off the building, Uncanny Valley grappling a different building with her extendo arm, Eagle jumping high and catching a thermal to glide away, and Zoe scrambling down the fire escape ladder. Knightowl growls in annoyance and shouts that Sparrow is SO grounded when she gets home!
Roll credits.
But for those whose DVR’s didn’t cut the recording they do see one last moment. They see a prison cell and the same old man as before but now in an orange jumpsuit. He’s laying on the prison bed with a hand over his eyes. But a little voice gets his attention. “Du Chao. Little Badger?” The old man, now recognized as Du Chao, cracks open an eye to see his ever faithful black and white Kwami, holding the arm band likely confiscated from him upon arrest. “Patti, old friend.”
“Our work is not yet done little badger.” the Kwami places its Miraculous back in his hand. “For the Order. We must continue to fight. We are perseverance.”
“Indeed we are. And those children shall know that we will not be giving in easily.” Du Chao smiles softly at his Kwami, stroking them gently with a finger. “Well, Patti, shall we make our escape?”
“Gladly.”
The end

The Backdoor Pilots have a fair amount of original characters as the focus, since it's supposed to be a next generation thing, but New York still has a fair amount of returning faces
But since these are going to be very OC heavy then you guys get the art first for visual aid

The future of the world.
The safety of the Kwami.
It's all up to them.
Are they ready for that weight? That burden?
Only time will tell.

Miraculous World - Tokyo
Alright guys, let's return-
To the world of Miraculous Rewrite
We start on the watery light of morning, filtered through a paned window. Little dust motes reflecting the dim sunlight and sliding to the side until we see a mass of black hair. Two young women looking very much like young adults, college students at a guess, are tangled up in a nice looking (but not overly fancy) bed. One has short hair mussed with sleep, the other has even shorter in a rumpled undercut. They’re both still asleep. A bit of rummaging breaks the relative silence and we pan over to see a young man with long, tangled blonde hair buttoning up a dress shirt. The silver ring glints on his finger, thinner and less blocky than we remember the old one looking. A flash of black catches his eye and he focuses on the little cat Kwami floating down to sit on his shoulder, yawning. “Morning already?” Plagg yawned. “I was just having the most wonderful dream of swimming in a sea of melted camembert.” Adrien rolls his eyes with a small grin. “Geez, discorperated and recorperated for the first time in centuries and you never once changed your tune about cheese, huh?”
“Cheese is eternal.” Plagg huffed. But Adrien continues to get ready. “You know I don’t even know why you’re getting ready, don’t you wanna be in there with the loves of your life?”
“If you wanna go back to your nest with Tikki and go back to sleep with her you can just do that.” Adrien responds patiently. “It’s just breakfast, you can join me later.”
Plagg doesn’t even wait; he's immediately darted back over toward the Kwami nests and snuggling back up to Tikki.
Adrien looks back at Marinette and Kagami, both still sleeping soundly and smiles, he places a hand on the side of the bed and gives them both a couple of gentle smooches before leaving.
We follow Adrien through the halls and come to see that this is a pretty big house, assumedly a new Agreste Manor.
Sure enough when he ends up in the kitchen area, Emilie is sitting on the countertop, legs crossed and nursing a mug of coffee. She’s still in her pajamas but she’s wearing Nooroo’s broach like a pendant. The Kwami in question has a shot glass also full of coffee he’s working on.
“Morning Maman.” Adrien walks up and gives his mom a peck on the cheek, before opening the fridge and getting started on breakfast. “Is Father still asleep?”
“You know he is. That man is a night owl to his core.” she shook her head and peeked over Adrien’s shoulder to see what he was making. "So remind me how it works again?"
Adrien shrugged. "Tell me one thing Hawkmoth did that wasn't solved within a few hours that he could be tried for legally in court? The legal definition of terrorism includes that it's used for political gains, so the emotional effect of being Hawkmoth not having a political leaning makes that negligable, any harm to person or property was undone by Miraculous Ladybug, and the only lasting damages done were done at the hands of the Old Order in the final battle, in the fight of which Father was on our side. There's no legal precedent for supervillains. And..." Adrien shrugged.
"I dunno, it would feel wrong at that point 'civic duty' or not. it was a battle of Miraculouses, so Among Miraculous wielders it should stay."
"You know in a way it doesn't feel real... how much different things have been since... everything... My husband was a supervillain my boy was a superhero, and i started all of it for using a broken Miraculous..."
"Maman, it's not your fault, you didn't know. we all made out decisions. Father made his choices, I made mine, and we chose to mend what happened. And let me tell you- it feels MUCH different now that it's over. Now that we can- you know... have a chance at being REAL..."
The domestic scene continues just a moment longer as we get caught up on where everyone is at in life.
Adrien is actually working at the Bakery with the Dupain-Chengs, though today he was going with Sabine to look over a new deal with one of their suppliers, Marinette was getting her label off the ground and had been up to her eyeballs recently in commissions, to the point where Gabriel had been ‘lightly advising’ that she might want to consider forming a team to keep up with demand, and how hard it was to listen to him despite his actual professional experience. Kagami was practically physically fighting her mother over not having to go to university in Tokyo. Kenji wanted to stay in France and there was some weird thing about her grandparents wanting one of their grandkids to be nearby soon, and since he was older Kenji had seniority on decisions over his own life.
But before too long they’re joined by Marinette and Kagami shuffling out down the hallway, Kagami more bleary eyed and annoyed than Marinette, who looks strikingly perky.
“Let me tell you, life as Marinette got way easier the SECOND it wasn’t just me and Adrien doing patrols.” Marinette says in lieu of greeting, sitting on the place at the counter that Emilie vacated earlier. She yawns and stretches, and right when Kagami sits at the kitchen table, thunking her head down she hops off the counter to grab the coffee maker. She pours a mug, and then retrieves a glass of juice. Marinette offers Kagami the coffee and sips at the juice herself. “Hey Adrien, you know I know you’re excited about working for Maman and Baba but you don’t HAVE to do all the cooking, you can just wake me up with you sometimes.” Adrien shrugs, finishing the breakfast spread right as Gabriel eventually comes in, rolling up in a wheelchair with a tablet on his lap.
Breakfast is served and Adrien shrugs. “I’m still figuring myself out Mari, Come on, I spent most of my childhood in a job I kinda hated and being a superhero too, I need some time for self expression! Besides, I love providing for my most favoritest people in the world… and Father too I guess.” Gabriel shoots him a dry look over his own coffee.
A beeping noise interrupts the quiet breakfast and Kagami groans, pulling out her phone and checking the email. “Ugh… this stupid reunion…”
“It’s an excuse to go to Japan and check out that thing-” Marinette chimes in and Kagami doesn’t look any less upset about it, even as she digs back into her food.
“I know, But the last time my family had a reunion my mother was so stressed out she became a giant spider monster.” Gabriel cringes, but Kagami plows on. “And I KNOW my grandparents are gonna try and get me to go to Uni in Tokyo, and I can’t exactly explain to them that just having my relationship in France isn’t the only reason I want to stay here. I can’t just say that I’m a superhero. Not to them at least.”
“You know, I was wielding a magic item before any of you-” Emilie brings up “and I’d never seen anything quite like the amount of magical phenomena that’s been cropping up ever since I woke up, Miraculous or no.”
“Alya has a theory-” Marinette responds. “Something about the Final battle might have caused a lot of supernatural things to get a bit of a ‘soft reset’ so weird shit is gonna start popping up because of it. The Combination of Total Destruction puts a lot of strain on the magic balance of the universe.”
“It couldn’t have helped that a Miraculous Wish was used right after.” Adrien added on, and Gabriel cringes again. “We still doing that team meeting today to divvy up what we’ve found?”
“Yeah, Chloe and Amber seem really confident about that one in the states, and Alya’s agreed to not bring up that ‘Maybe’ that's in New York until she’s got confirmation, so the others need to be up to date on what might be going on there.”
“Try not to get punched in the face by the flour guy again,” Kagami added on “if one of the illustrious leaders shows up with a black eye from something stupid again they’ll never let you live it down.”
“Hey if I didn’t tank it for Marinette’s mom last time Sabine would have actually killed him before he could land the blow.”
“I’m thankful Maman didn’t have to actually commit murder last time, yes.” Marinette agreed with a sort of playful eye roll. “It’d look bad if a superhero’s parent got put in prison.” “I’m sitting right here.” Gabriel adds on with another dry look
“We know.” All three young adults answer in unison.
Emilie laughs.
“Good thing you weren’t Hawkmoth, right? Just heroically aided the team when the Ram Miraculous was left nearby and Hawkmoth and Monarcha ran off with the Old Order.” Adrien added in. Though Gabriel looks more generally uncomfortable, and for a moment the mood goes a bit somber at the reminder of everything that had happened at the end of the war expanded in audience beyond what was before.
But then Kagami stands. “Well, that’s enough reminiscing I think. Time to focus on more important matters, namely all of these phenomena that HAVE been popping up regardless of HOW they’ve been. The others should all be filing into the base soon. I say we should get dressed and head them off.”
She begins to walk off gesturing for her partners to follow her and Adrien digs into the rest of his breakfast while Marinette downs the last of her juice. “Fair enough” Emilie shrugs as the kids all begin to rush to get ready.
We see a few clips of the three of them getting ready bobbing and weaving around each other during morning routines as the Kwamis buzz around to help or do their own morning rituals. Tikki, Plagg, and Lonng eventually settling on their respective wielder’s shoulders each as once clothes are straightened out and such, Adrien rushes forward and shouts “race ya!” to which Marinette takes up with a playful laugh. And Kagami huffs and grins too, but doesn’t seem immediately to go with. Adrien tears past a couple of other bedrooms in this mansion, a door opening and Felix and Bridgitte both poking their heads out, Felix’s hair still rumpled with sleep and a sour look on his face. When Adrien turns to the stairs Max is just walking out of a room, tapping something on a laptop and looking like he didn’t sleep at all.
A couple more heads poke out of rooms as Adrien tears through with Marinette at his heels, showing that while maybe everyone doesn’t LIVE together, they all do have rooms here when they’re wanted/needed, and some will drop in to spend the night at times. Especially with early morning meetings such as these.
Marinette barely pulls the lead when they both cram into a storage room and slams her hand onto a hidden panel. It scans HER hand first and she grins triumphantly at him. Adrien pouts for a moment but when the false wall opens to reveal an elevator behind it Kagami is already waiting inside said elevator for the both of them.
“Frankly that was a little insulting to challenge me so…” she’s looking at her nails as if in one of those ‘so bored nothing else to do’ type things.
Marinette laughs, Adrien pouts even further. “Hey! You cheated! You totally turned into wind to get in here faster!”
“Don’t be silly, Lonng doesn’t allow for such misuse of his power…”
“She bribed me.” Lonng responds without missing a beat, and sure enough her Kwami was already snacking again, now on what looks to be some sort of hard candy.
The two leaders of the team stare at Kagami for a moment, before she leans forward and pecks both of them on the cheeks. “Forgiven?”
“For now.” Adrien responds immediately, while Marinette adopts a more mischievous expression, and the blonde steps out of the way.
Kagami only has a moment to brace herself before her girlfriend lunges at her and the doors of the elevator shut. When they open again, it’s in the basement of the new mansion, revealing their base of operations and another door nearby. The wielder of the Dragon Miraculous is currently taking breaths in between a barrage of tickling from the designer, while Adrien whistles in the background, keeping his hands up as he exits the elevator.
As he does so, the door opens, revealing wine bottles lining shelves; a secret door, and out steps Chloe, who raises one eyebrow at the scene in the elevator and looks to her childhood friend. He, in response, mouths “don’t ask.”
Now it’s Chloe’s turn to roll her eyes. But still she passes by the scene with little commentary.
The new base, far less conspicuous than at the bottom of a hotel where many employees could possibly stumble into, is clearly state of the art. The Agreste fortune put to good use, as much like the base before it’s a meeting place slash training room slash kitchen area. But now without the back room for temporary sleeping location. Still comfortable, and Max’s super computer setup is still cozy in the corner, but more… ‘this is a base for SUPERHEROES’ instead of ‘this is a really cool clubhouse for a bunch of scared teenagers’
Also there’s an entire wall that’s just lined with little areas for the Kwamis to hang out, a more put together version of the old Kwami hideaway that used to be in the rafters of the old base.
In the center of a small ring of chairs and couches is at the moment a large map with various thumbtacks in various places, clearly a sort of color coded system to mark strange happenings.
Slowly people start to trickle in, varying levels of sleep deprivation, chief among them being Alya, who’s balancing two coffee cups on top of her laptop as she walks in, and Nino is walking just behind her in case of an emergency.
Amber is seen in the kitchenette area getting a couple of coffee’s ready for others as she makes her own caffeinated monstrosity. Chloe making a disgusted face and pointedly taking from a different pot, clearly the decaffeinated one, and ends up settling down in a loveseat, when Luka joins her she throws her legs over his lap and leans in, clearly they’re still a couple.
As Marinette scans around the space, waiting until the last person trickles in, she counts heads. “Well with Sun Min and all of them still in Shanghai, that's... basically everyone”
Despite the Kwamis having a wall for their hangout space, there were still rafters, it was a familiar thing for everyone, and it felt right to keep them, especially for how they could be useful in training. Or, in this instance…
“Shouldn’t you have more spacial awareness, Miss Ladybug?” The former member of the Old Order drops down from above, hanging by his legs until he’s in front of Marinette’s face; she trips over her feet and flops directly on top of both Adrien and Kagami, before glaring at the man. “A-Fei and Eun-ji wanted to stay behind in Shanghai, keep an eye on things, but updates are updates.”
Kim grins slightly and raises a hand for a high five, to which Sun Min heartily provides.
But eventually everyone’s here, or everyone that CAN be here is here and Marinette calls the meeting into order.
Basically, what we learn is an extrapolation on what we already knew. That the world has had a sort of ‘magical reset’ of a kind after Tsering Wan’s Total Destruction Combination and Gabriel’s Wish back to back. Essentially all dormant magical energies are beginning to resurface. And- as we all know, the Old Older were many in number, and from what little they’d figured out from the old masters there were undiscovered Miraculous in the western world that the Old Order had been explicitly planning on getting hold of.
Alix raises a hand and asks if they’re going to basically be globe trotting to keep an eye on things then, and Adrien makes a sort of ‘kind of’ gesture with his hand. “We’re going to have to start out small at first, there are a few magical phenomena we can fully confirm are Miraculouses and we’re definitely going to make sure we can get hold of those before the Old Order can start some sort of ‘second war’ or something, or at least make allies with those who found them first, but we don’t want to like- send someone all the way to Mexico and find out it’s just a chupacabra or something…”
So Marinette breaks down what they’ve found so far and can confirm. Turns out, not a lot. They only have two fully confirmed Miraculous. A superhero line that seemed to be passed on along generations in the United States, a city on the west coast called San Francisco, and strange sightings of an animal themed magic user in Tokyo.
Alya looks about to physically restrain herself from mentioning New York, though someone (Rose) points out the green thumbtack on the east coast of the US and Alya has to grab Nino’s shoulder and lightly scream into it to keep herself in order.
“Green is for maybe, and Alya doesn’t have enough to work with beyond hearsay.” Marinette answered easily.
“Sun Min, how’s Shanghai doing?”
“Not well.” He answers simply and while he was standing before he hops to sit on the arm of the couch. “We’re basically safeguarding the temple that the others left when they went to invade here and there’s only so many times A-Fei can put someone to sleep with Tranquii before it’s clear we need a new strategy. I’m… pretty sure they want to bring Miss Sancour into the old training grounds to try and get her into Tsering Wan’s old position, or at least fast track her into a higher ranked Warrior.”
“So she’s the one you think they gave the Scorpion to after Misso vanished with the others?”
“It wouldn’t surprise me. Either her or Master Lian.”
“Yeah, not exactly ideal…” Chloe huffed and Luka makes a small noise of agreement.
A few things are decided there. Sun Min, Yun Eun-Ji and Wu Fei were going to need some backup eventually. And others were going to be sent toward investigations. Chloe and Amber were being assigned to San Francisco, Alya and Nino were to be on standby in case New York turns up anything, Adrien Marinette and Kagami would be investigating Tokyo, and Felix and Bridgitte would be heading back to Shanghai with Sun Min. Alix, Max, Kim, Rose, Juleka and Luka were all staying in Paris for sure to hold the fort, Luka in specific put in charge of the rest of them.
The group splits off into the usual smaller cliques, discussing their plans. Kitty Section has some recording work to do, a lot of the group are starting to consider university, and Alya is practically begging Max to let her use his computer to see if she can find any information on his system that her crummy laptop can’t (“Alya that’s not how it works” “She’s running on negative sleep, dude, she can’t hear you.”).
Watching everyone begin to make plans, Chloe on the phone with her father, Amber on the phone with an airport, and all of that good stuff, Kagami turns to the other two in ‘her party’ and asks if they’re both okay with this. She knows that she’s the only one of the three of them that speaks Japanese so…
Adrien lets out an excited “YES!” and while Marinette HAD been about to give a more measured response both her and Kagami jump and look at him.
“Our first time trying out being a couple was with Marinette’s family in Shanghai! Now we get to be an established couple for YOUR family reunion! This is gonna be WILD!”
“More like One of you will be Kagami’s significant other and you’ll have to figure out some other excuse for the third one to be there too because a traditional family like Kagami’s won’t be down for polyamory-” Kim chimed in near immediately, only to get smacked once by Alix. “What? It’s true! I’ve got traditional family back in Ha Noi, they can be real fucking awful… Most still aren’t down for same sex relationships at ALL let alone ‘both of them at the same time’ relationships…”
“No Kim’s right, as much as that stings to say.” Kagami huffed. “We’re going to have to figure something out to tell my family if you two want to come with me…”
“Well, would they be more pleased with a French boyfriend, or a French-Chinese girlfriend?” Marinette asks, and all three know the answer.
“This is Adrien, my boyfriend and our mutual friend Marinette don’t ask any questions.” Kagami huffed through gritted teeth. “I already hate this.”
“Uggghhhh!” Adrien groaned and folded his arms. “How am I supposed to be allowed to be as lovey Dovey with Kagami as I please and not be allowed to show Marinette any love? This feels illegal.”
Marinette is already about as red as a tomato. Adrien’s playful pout becomes a wicked grin. “Though- you know what that might mean Kagami?” Kagami narrows her eyes and Adrien glances significantly at Marinette and she realizes what he’s getting at.
“Perhaps I do… tell me anyway though…?”
“It just means that we’re gonna have to love Marinette EXTRA hard to make up for the time we’re gonna lose!”
“If you three are about to make out I would kindly ask that you get a goddamn room before we all have to vacate on our respective missions as soon as possible.” Chloe chimes out.
“Yeah I’m gonna puke” Alix agrees.
It’s here that the cold open ends and the Miraculous World Theme begins.
When the theme song ends and the episode resumes, we’ve skipped ahead to an airport, specifically the arrival bay of a Tokyo airport. Kenji and Tomoe are taking the lead, while the three heroes are in the back. Adrien and Marinette are both a bit more distracted, glancing out the windows at what they can gleam of the city from beyond them, while Kagami is keeping a firm grip on both their hands to keep them from falling behind.
A car is waiting for the family outside, though a limo would be more accurate.
“I don’t understand how you two have so much energy after THAT much flying….” She mutters tiredly, to which Adrien responds first with a sort of ‘well duh’ tone “I’ve never been to JAPAN Kagami! This is crazy! Ooohhh how much free time do you think we’ll get? I wanna go to a ramen shop!”
“Honestly I really hope we can hit up Harajuku” Marinette agrees “I’ve always been fascinated by the fashion epicenter of the country…”
She blinks, looking between the two, before sighing. “After we’ve spoken to my grandparents, we can go sightseeing for a bit. Hopefully it won’t take too long.”
Kenji takes that moment to swoop in, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. “It’s our grandparents. You know how this is going to go.” She winces. “Might want to rain check playing tour guide for tomorrow, Kagami.”
“That bad huh?” Marinette hummed. “Is it better or worse than hanging with my paternal grandpa?” and when Kagami AND Kenji both shoot her a ‘yikes’ sort of look she hummed. “Yeah That bad. Thought so.”
Adrien glances at the three of them, and then out the window. “I’m suddenly worried for whenever I meet my grandparents.” Sheltered boy is sheltered.
But eventually the car pulls into a long line of traditional manors, walled off estates and such. And Marinette jokes that her maternal grandad would have a lot to say about all of THIS…
Soon they come to a stop in front of one. The Tsurugi family crest emblazoned on the door. And Kagami looks up to the front seat to see her mother tense up for a long moment, as if trying not to shudder.
“We’re here, aren’t we?” she murmured and Kenji placed a hand on her shoulder. “Yeah. we’re here. Do you need me to stick nearby, Kaa-san?”
Tomoe sighs, and from here on will be speaking exclusively in Japanese and subtitled. “I will be alright Kenji. Kagami! Get your friends ready. Leave the speaking to myself and your brother unless directly addressed.”
“Yes mother.” Kagami stiffens, and noticeably, her Japanese is a little more rough than her mother’s. After spending so long in France the language is eroding a bit.
Marinette and Adrien both take a moment to squeeze her hands, and she relaxes, if only a little, taking in a deep breath before letting it out slowly. A faint smile is on her face as the three get out and follow the elder Tsurugis into the manor.
As the doors open, Marinette looks a little pained, but drops her hand from Kagami’s, and folds her arms behind her back. The area is large and auspicious, a clearly perfectly manicured front area in the estate, perfect rock garden in the front. Tomoe is notably without her walking stick and is clutching to Kenji’s arm to lead her properly.
Then they enter the estate and much like the outside it’s very traditionally put together, if ornate. Fancy vases and tapestries and the most perfectly put together tatami that Marinette notes that she feels inadequate just putting her shoes in the cubby…
Adrien laughs softly and says it’s the price of being rich…
A maid of some kind greets the lot of them in the doorway, very stoic and serious and when Kenji offers his arm again for Tomoe she turns him down. “I still remember where everything is… assuming they haven’t changed things just to watch me bump into them…” the way Tomoe says this makes it sound like that was something her parents have done to her before.
Everyone notices when Kenji gently takes Tomoe and guides her away from a side table that she’d been about to walk into.
As the lot of them move through the area they eventually come to the doors of a big room. Kenji takes a breath, smiles crookedly at the host of characters and murmurs a small “Follow me~”
The door is slid open and Kenji’s grin dies immediately. Looking like an entirely different person as he does so. He, Tomoe, and Kagami all walk inside and greet the family patriarch in a traditional style. And Marinette and Adrien have to clumsily follow behind.
The two, dressed almost like it was centuries earlier than present day, are unshaken. And much like before as they speak in japanese do so with subtitles.
“It’s wonderful to see you again, daughter. Kenji, Kagami, you’re both looking well.” Says Grandmother
“Though you may want to have your son relay to you the amount of people in your little group, Tomoe. It seems you have two stowaways with you.” States Grandfather
Kenji speaks up instead “Kagami’s boyfriend, Adrien Agreste, was requested to come, and as chaperone their mutual friend Cheng Xiuying was invited to join. The three of them were in the fencing club together in highschool, and all had top marks, though Kagami of course was in first place.”
The grandparents seem unmoved at the explanation but do accept it as good enough. Though grandma does notably raise a brow at Marientte’s fully Chinese name being laid out as such.
“Chinese?”
“She was born in France but her mother is from Shanghai, Grandmother.”
“I see.”
Kenji presses on, though, while things seem amicable. “I assure you, the two only wished to see what Kagami’s home was like, and promised to remain upstairs during the reunion. Until the rest of the family arrives, would it be alright for her to show them around the local sights?”
After some silent hemming and hawwing, Grandfather eventually raises a hand and sighs. “Children are rowdy. It’s best that they get their jitters out now.”
Kenji sighs “thank you so much, I swear we’ll be VERY careful-”
“Kenji, you will stay here and assist your mother.” Grandmother responded, clipped. “You know how clumsy she can be.”
Tomoe grits her teeth, and Kenji’s brows furrow but he responds with a soft “yes grandmother.”
He looks back at Kagami and nods and she stands and gives one more bow and a “I will see you both this evening.” to her grandparents before all but rushing out the door with Marinette and Adrien at her heels.
No one speaks until they’ve left the house and are on the streets. And it’s Adrien that speaks up first before anyone else, resting a hand on Kagami’s shoulder and squeezing it gently. “You going to be alright, Kagami?”
Marinette, her eyes darting back at the manor as if expecting to see one of grandparents stepping through it at any moment, settles for standing close by to her partners, hands clenched into fists behind her back. “Do you want to go back?”
“Not at all,” Kagami responds immediately in Japanese, and both of her partners blink, and she speaks in French this time. “That… I’m not alright, and I don’t want to go back there, even though I’m worried about Kenji. There is a reason neither of us were that thrilled at coming here.”
Adrien and Marinette share a glance, before the latter speaks up. “Well, then let’s go on that tour! I still want to see some of the stores and look at the different clothes they offer, and we should grab something to eat before Adrien wastes away.”
“Hey!”
Her joke has the intended effect, though. Even as Adrien pouts, Kagami smiles; it’s faint, but it’s still there. And she gestures for the two to follow her as they head down the street.
We see a quick montage of general ‘exploring Tokyo’ vibes, the lot of them getting food, Adrien seen absolutely HORKING down a tonkotsu ramen bowl, Marinette exploding with excitement at the mannequins in the shop windows. Kagami is translating things for either of them, and while she’s clearly a little off still, by the time the lot of them have done enough general ‘things we wanted to do’ things, and they transform, Kagami is feeling MUCH more comfortable.
The lot of them take to the sky, swinging and pole vaulting and riding the wind as the three of them would.
“So remind me how we’re supposed to be tracking this supposed Miraculous wielder down?” Chat Noir wonders, then adds on “and remind me why we’re so sure they ARE a miraculous wielder and not just a bug themed supervillain?”
“The bug themed villain is seen only for brief windows of about five minutes, implying they hide until they use their power and then clean up their mess in the time they’ve got left.”Ladybug reads off her Yoyo
“So we’re looking for a teenager.” Ryuko surmises.
“Or someone who just hasn’t grown into their power yet, Remember what Sun Min said about magical maturity not being directly proportional to age.” Chat Noir points out. “And these sightings line up with disappearances?”
“Yup. Last one reported was in…” Ladybug points in a certain direction and the lot of them follow.
There’s a sort of noir vibe as the investigating begins, certain ways of gathering information such as searching for fingerprints not quite as viable since the last spotted disappearance was in a public park, but still the heroes try their best, even running into a police officer and finding out that they have very little to work on.
The cop recognizes them for their work in Paris and allows the three to come back to the police station to help investigate a little upon their shared suspicions that this serial kidnapper was using one of their magical items, likely stolen.
Kagami is of course taking point since while the Miraculouses CAN translate easier while transformed, she IS the native speaker and is more familiar with cultural norms. When the team reaches the police station and are given a talk with the chief, he hands over the incident reports and witness accounts with little fuss.
The cop apparently said there was little to no hope for this whole thing and they were going to simply stamp it as supervillain activity and store it away with other supervillain things, but if some heroes can get on it maybe it won’t be a blemish on their precinct.
Paging through the reports it’s clear that eyewitnesses have a very strange through line, that the person being kidnapped, very CLEARLY kidnapped at that, was always elated to see their kidnapper, one even saying something about ‘true love’ as they were swept away, wandering about until they were grabbed as if drugged or in a daze.
But before they can investigate much further an alarm beeps on Kagami’s sword and she swears softly, it seems they’re out of time.
The lot of them nod between each other and thank the chief for the time and information before taking off.
The three eventually arrive back at Tsurugi estates just in time for the last of the relatives to arrive, And Marinette pointedly takes a step back away from the others as one of Kagami’s Aunties greets her at the gates. Though she looks between the girl and her ‘friends’ before sniffing.
“Bit of a Wild Child Tomoe’s raised…” she hums idly. “But i hope your friends enjoy their stay as well.”
Kagami sighs. “Nice to see you again too auntie.” she responds.
As we cut inside, it seems dinner is being made, and Marinette raises a brow when an uncle in stumbling french asks if she should be out of the kitchen right now and Kagami all but grits out that Xiuying is their GUEST, uncle, where’s your hospitality?
An auntie says that Adrien is pretty cute for a European boy, but Kenji have YOU had any luck so far? If they had to give his plus one to Adrien and Kagami’s Chaperone, then clearly HE didn’t have a date-
Kenji coughs into his tea and apologizes softly- we slide him over to the side to see in flashback Kenji all but begging Gavroche to NOT come with him.
“My partner had other obligations to attend to. I’d never get between them and their passions.”
The tension in the room begins to get more and more cloying as the relatives alternate between Kenji and Kagami, that they’re both not ACTING right anymore and Tomoe was moving away really the right decision for how your children are turning out?
Perhaps it would be best for the two of them to come to Japan so they can be straightened out.
And it was here, that one of Kagami’s partners decided to cut in.
Marinette leans forward and, while her voice still remains polite and cheerful, begins a massive tirade about how Kagami is turning out WONDERFULLY thank you very much. And so is Kenji. Tomoe’s done a WONDERFUL job with them and she’s HONORED to have Kgami in her life actually. Just because Kagami wants to stay in Paris, and not study in japan, and she’s a FENCING master instead of an eastern style and she’s dating a white boy instead of a Japanese boy doesn’t mean that she’s FAILING just because she doesn’t meet THEIR standards of success!
“I don’t see any of YOU with kids in this little ‘family reunion’ anyway so who are all of you to judge?”
Marinette of course was speaking French for all of this. So other than catching a few names it was clear most people didn’t really understand WHAT she was saying until-
“Kagami if your Chinese friend can’t behave in a civilized manner would you mind escorting her to the courtyard?” Grandma speaks up and Kagami is a little busy staring at Marinette with hearts in her eyes to do so so Adrien gets up and gently takes Marinette’s arm and starts to guide her out.
Kagami does in fact stumble to her feet as well and while Marinette is clearly regretting absolutely nothing, Adrien does look a little nervous. And it shows because as they walk the more it seems Kagami comes back to herself and realizes what a NOT cool thing that actually was. By the time they actually make it outside she’s pinching her temples and wondering how Marinette even KNEW what they were talking about detransformed. Tikki sheepishly pokes her head out from Marinette’s hair and guiltily admits that it was… probably her.
As if to prevent Tikki from taking all the blame, Plagg also peeks out from his own hiding place on Adrien’s person to say he’d been helping his charge not get too lost in the discussions as well.
Longg from his own place within the folds of Kagami’s kimono peeks out and huffs that they’re both FAR too sentimental.
The three of them begin to wander passing through the estate and gardens until they’re eventually chilling just barely outside of the property lines. And Marinette finally says that she just-... she’s not allowed to BE Kagami’s partner here, and it’s clear that her family has ‘expectations’ for her since she’s… you know… ‘not the right kind of east asian’ or something, and- and time and again Kagami has shown her loyalty, her bravery and skill and how she’d move MOUNTAINS for either of them, how could Marinette NOT want to sing her praises until the sun rose?
“She’s right, I was about this close-” Adrien pinches his fingers very close together “to fighting an old man myself.”
Then after a moment of looking at the two girls adds on “do you… want me to give you guys some alone time? I still feel really bad for the whole ‘can’t be with Marinette around them’ thing… maybe it’ll help…?”
And after a moment of the two girls glancing at each other then back to Adrien he adds on “I can try and recover whatever face we just lost with Kenji as interpreter…?”
“I’d appreciate that, thanks.” Kagami agreed softly. And after a moment Marinette grins a bit wanly.
“Good luck, meow mix.”
Adiren gives both of them a couple of good luck smooches before waving and vanishing back through the gate.
“...I will admit this is both going better and worse than I expected it to…” Kagami observes softly and Marinette snorts.
“What? Did you think I’d be perfectly behaved and Adrien would be the trouble maker?” Kagami looked at her for a very long moment and Marinette realized she really did. A small ‘ah’ coming out at that discovery.
“I….appreciate your defense Marinette, I really, truly do. But- this isn’t Paris. You can’t just threaten to fight my grandfather like you did Adrien’s father. He won’t find your gumption charming. He’s very much from the old world, he’ll be VERY upset at the very idea. And with his influence he could ruin any chances you’d have of an international label…”
“You’re going to need to apologize. And… not mention being a fashion designer around them anymore. Let their stereotypes work for you so you won’t have to reveal anything. Your family is… absolutely wonderful from what I spent with them, but they’re very much different from mine.”
Marinette sighs. “I just want to protect you…” But after another long pause eventually nods her head.
Kagami places her hand on Marinette’s shoulder and pulls her in close. Though just as they’re both about to head back inside there’s a flash of black.
And Plagg floating alone with his ring.
“There’s been a kitten-napping!”
We cut back to the inside of the Tsurugi estate, things had settled into an awkward silence as everyone sips at tea and nibbles on snacks. Kenji looks into his tea for a long moment.
“May I ask why?” “You seem to be doing alright for yourself Kenji.” Grandma huffs around her own cup. “But that girl is a wild child and she needs to be tamed. It’s clear our Tomoe isn’t up for the task.” Tomoe clenches her fists into her kimono. “So it’s up to your grandfather and I. The Tsurugi family needs a PROPER heir. And if you insist on staying in France then the girl is our only hope.”
But just before either Kenji or Tomoe could maybe say something about it, the door bursts open, this time with a frantic Kagami.
“Adrien has been kidnapped and we have reason to believe it was by the person that’s BEEN kidnapping people in town recently.”
Marinette is still speaking French of course, but as she does so Kagami translates.
“Xiuying says she saw what looked like a dart go through the air and it hit Adrien in the back. Before she could even ask if he was alright a figure in what looked to be-” she looked to Marinette. “You said a firefly themed outfit?” At Marinette’s nod Kagami translates that as well “A firefly outfit swooped in and stole him away. We have reason to believe-”
“That’s impossible!” One of the uncles calls out “Tsurugi estate has been one of the most protected estates in all of Japan for Centuries. Girl, your friend has clearly run her mouth. Typical Chinese behavior.” The uncle can barely get the insult from his mouth before a fencing saber zips through the air and pins his sleeve to the table.
“Where were you keeping that…?” Marinette mumbles in shock before Kagami hisses out
“You will keep your prejudice against my girlfriend to yourself, uncle. Or I will MAKE you silent. Time and Again my brother, mother and I have done everything in our power to win your approval. An approval that clearly we will never receive if your abysmal behavior is indicative of anything.”
Already there was whispering, hushed voices from all of the extended family at the display from the youngest of Tomoe’s kids. The patriarch and matriarch both were looking at each other and then at Tomoe with a clear look of ‘we told you so,’ though it was, of course, lost on their daughter. Before anything further could be said, Kenji rose to his feet. All of the whispering stopped, and the grandparents were looking pleased, as if he were going to prove their point of him doing the best of the youngest generation.
The uncle in question had almost managed to get the fencing saber out of the table, and Kenji approached, giving the man his best smile as he knelt down, gripped the saber by the hilt, and dug it even deeper into the table.
Everyone stared as he stood back up and joined his sister and her girlfriend by the entrance, placing a hand on each of their shoulders. “Where did you last see him?”
Kagami, after a moment of watching in the shock that was the lot of them ‘acting up’ as it were, spoke again. “He was in the courtyard, he- he said that he was going to help you with the whole… ‘handling everything’ business.” After a moment, Kagami raises her hand, her fingers gripped around something tightly. “Will you help us?”
Kenji’s eyes widen for a moment but he smiles, and takes his hand off of Kagami’s shoulder to place it over her hand. And with the deftness of a million card tricks, takes the offered ring and slips it on his finger, Plagg zipping between them and burying into Kenji’s yukata. “Of course I will, little sister, let’s go.”
But just as he’s about to herd the girls to the door a loud BANG comes as grandfather’s hand slams down onto the table.
“If you value your branch of this family at all, boy, you’ll stay right here. You too, girl.”
“Actually-” Tomoe cuts in. “I believe my son and daughter are about to go look for someone that’s been kidnapped by a supervillain. If they manage it they’d be heroes since the police haven’t had any leads on the source of these kidnappings since they began. And because said kidnapping this time happened on OUR family’s property, not taking care of it ourselves would make it seem like not just A Tsurugi, but ALL Tsurugis are helpless. Something I’m sure you wouldn’t want people to think about beyond your… shamefully blind daughter, would it, father?”
Grandfather hesitates, and Tomoe stands carefully, after a moment, reaching out a hand which Kagami takes to gently guide her. “Your grandchildren have both accomplished FAR more than you’ll ever know father. If requiring aid makes one weak, then there isn’t a strong person in this room.” The lot of them are uncontested as they head for the doors.
Until Tomoe stops them right before exiting. “And her name is Kagami. Call her ‘girl’ again and you’ll see how well I can still navigate the world, father.”
When the four figures are standing in the courtyard again Tomoe sighs softly. “Thank you, Marinette. I’ll admit after a certain point in my life it became far harder to stand against them… You’re a good match for my daughter. Just as Adrien is.” Marinette blushes but thanks Tomoe for her words right back. And Kagami is pointedly NOT blushing but also not looking at her mother at all no siree not even a little bit. Tomoe’s grin turns serious quickly. “But now it’s time for you all to be listening to me. As our situation isn’t one that can easily be corrected. If I heard you all speaking so pointedly yet vaguely correctly, you were able to Secure Adrien’s magical object?”
“Yes ma’am. Plagg is safe.”
“Good.” she nods. “Now, I’m going to inform the police, you all should leave now. Track his whereabouts. And take this kidnapper down before he can do anything to your boy.”
Kagami smiles softly. “Yes ma’am. And… thank you mother.”
Tomoe smiles and then pulls out her phone. “Alright Sirena, call the police.”
Kenji pauses for a moment as he looks down at the ring, and Plagg gives him a nervous glance. But he nods. “Alright Let’s do this.”
The three hurry away from the manor before any of the family can come out and try and “talk sense” into them, and once it seems safe enough, the three transform, and take to the rooftops. With a birds-eye view now accessible, it’s more obvious to see a strange glow in the direction that Plagg had claimed Adrien had been taken away in.
Upon a closer inspection, the glow was from a goo-like substance, giving off a bioluminescence, and it went on for a good long while. With a shared nod between the girls, Ryuuko shifts to wind form and shoots off after the trail, Ladybug and Kenji returning to the rooftops to keep an eye out for the mysterious figure dressed like a firefly as they followed after her.
For a while, that’s how it goes, following the trail that the Miraculous user seemed to leave, likely by accident, until they finally spot a head of blond hair. He’s moving sluggishly, with stumbling footsteps, almost like he’s in a trance. Ladybug jumps down as Ryuuko returns to a human form. Each of them grab him by one shoulder to try and halt his marching. From this close, they can see an odd glassiness in his eyes, and they share a look of concern.
“Adrien!” Ryuuko calls out, keeping her grip firm on his shoulder, but he continues to try and walk, pushing against the girls. “Do you remember where you are right now?”
“Huh…?” The blonde turns to the girls, and blinks sluggishly, like he’s sleepwalking and hasn’t quite woken up yet. Still his face contorts into a sort of frustration. “Leave me alone…” he murmurs and tries to shake off Ryuuko’s hand. But she keeps a firm grip. “I gotta go…”
“Where are you going, Adrien.” Ryuuko demands in a short, clipped voice.
Adrien scoffs, strangely coldy, even for the fact that he’s clearly being controlled right now. “I just gotta Go… Leave me alone we’re breaking up.”
Kagami blinks, the sudden declaration hitting her off guard.
Ladybug glances at Kagami’s shocked expression, and tightens her own grip on Adrien’s other shoulder. “Adrien, you know you don’t mean that. You need to snap out of this.” She takes a moment to look over his shoulder at Kenji, and mouths a quick ‘search for anything that looks out of place.’ before slipping her free hand into her girlfriend’s and squeezing it.
Adrien is properly glaring now, though the hazy look in his eye still makes it feel duller. “No I do! I found my true love and I gotta break up with you guys! Don’t be bitter, Marinette let me go…!”
Ladybug clenches her jaw a little. Clearly upset but also clearly handling it decently okay, Kagami looks… none too hot chief. Her gaze had darted away and she looked like she did earlier when her grandparents were berating her.
The blonde makes one more attempt to brute force past them, and this time, with the state of discomfort Kagami is in, she does stumble back. Before anything else can happen, a gloved and clawed hand deftly plucks a dart out of Adrien’s neck, initially hidden by his hair, and his eyes snap wide open, wider than before, then shut. He drops forward like a sack of potatoes into the girls’ arms.
“Found it!” Kenji chirps, inspecting the dart in his hand. “Guess we know what the weapon is for this Miraculous, huh?”
Kagami still looks pale and a bit distant, but her eyes clenched shut and she murmurs. “Just mind control, just mind control.” a couple of times to herself.
And around there Adrien begins to wake up. He doesn’t quite get his legs under him at first, but he’s pressed up against Ladybug and Ryuuko and he’s clearly aware of this. After a beat murmuring. “Did I die and go to heaven?”
“He’s fine.” Ladybug says succinctly, and steps to the side, nudging Ryuuko further to the other side, and the blonde crashes to the ground. “Does that feel like heaven, Adrien?”
“Nooooo” he moans from the ground, face smooshed against the road.
With a roll of her eyes, she helps Adrien get back to his feet properly, and he at least has the decency to blush a little. “What do you remember from when you were out of it?”
Adrien grips a hand to his head and pinches his eyes shut as he thinks about it. “I mean… kinda..? I felt like I was in a dream. I think I WAS half dreaming because I could have sworn I saw a black haired Chat Noir-”
“Heyo” Kenji leans in. “If it makes you feel better, I haven’t picked out a name, but I don’t plan on using yours.”
“I’m going back to sleep.”
“NO.” Both girls state in unison, and Adrien holds up his hands. “Kidding, kidding. But… Yeah I remember it, kind of. But like in a ‘it's a dream you go along with anything when you’re dreaming’ type way…” He thought for a second and his eyes went wide. “....I didn’t mean it! I SUPER didn’t mean it! Whatever that dart did I DID NOT MEAN IT KAGAMI MARINETTE I’D NEVER BREAK UP WITH YOU GUYS LIKE EVER!” He immediately properly threw his arms around either of their necks and Kagami looked away with a small grin. “ESPECIALLY SINCE I KNOW HOW SCARED YOU ARE OF REJECTION KAGAMI”
“Nevermind, I’m breaking up with you specifically, actually. Come on Marinette we’re leaving.”
She does not, however, make any move to pull away from Adrien’s sudden hug.
Then, after a beat Kenji looks over the dart, then back to Adrien, and sticks him with it again. “OW!” “KENJI WHAT THE HELL?”
“You still feel like you’re in a dream?” Adrien blinks, and takes stock of himself.
“...no… actually I don't… I guess it’s a one time thing..?”
Ladybug holds a hand to her mouth in thought. “...I can work with this.” She answered after a beat.
From here we follow the kids, as Adrien tries to get back into character as the sleepwalking lovestruck thing he was before. He distantly remembered the directions he was given and thankfully is able to stumble in the general right direction
He’s welcomed by someone else, a random young woman about Adrien’s age, a dart sticking out of her arm as she gestures for him to come in. and be quiet. She looks Adrien over and says that he’s still ‘cooking’ that it’s alright. If he keeps their beloved’s sweetest gift within his system it’ll become decorative soon enough.
Adrien of course doesn’t speak Japanese, so we’re only finding this out through subtitles as he’s escorted in.
Thankfully, they’ve got ears inside the walls as Adrien had been slipped the staff and it’s currently on in a call, the other end playing out through Ladybug’s Yoyo, the magic of the transformation acting as a translator for her right now.
As the woman shows Adrien around ‘his new home’ she extolls about the virtues of being ‘their beloved’s loves’ and how it’s a constant state of euphoria when their beloved’s truth sets in. How their beloved he’ll find is just so so easy to listen to and devote one’s self to, you might even forget your name by the time it’s nice and set in for how distant the rest of the world becomes! It’s okay if you do forget though, their beloved is absolutely wonderful with coming up with names!
Adrien is REALLY glad that he does not have the magic transformation translations right now because the cheerful way the lady is talking combined with the estate’s sort of ‘communal living’ setup, combined with the people all around him looking half dazed half blissed out… It's pretty obvious what this is.
This guy’s made a cult.
The others seemed to realize, too, given the way that Ladybug’s gripping the yo-yo maybe a bit too tightly, and Kenji’s got a firm grip on Ryuuko’s arm as if he’d be able to keep her from jumping into the building even if she shifted into wind form. But they remain in their hiding spot, waiting for the Miraculous user to arrive before making their own appearance.
Adrien sluggishly, as if he’s still in trance asks in halting, barely accurate sounding japanese “where is he?”
The woman informs him that their beloved is due to return home soon, now, asks Adrien to sit down where she can properly explain the tale of their beloved. She calls out, and several others spring into motion to sort of herd Adrien into a sitting group with the rest of them, and the woman begins a spiel. Says that their beloved was unlucky in love for the longest time, rejected by all of society for his intelligence and individuality were deemed socially inferior. Called a friendless otaku he was cast aside by the world.
But then one day, he was visited by a god. The god of love. No, not the one you know. A better one. A new one. And with the abilities granted to him by the true love god, he was able to spread the love to everyone around him. And they all each and every one of them love him in turn for the truth he has given them.
For he has ascended his mortal binds, he is love itself and how could one do anything but adore such a thing? Going on to explain that she herself was once a classmate of his. One of the first he showed the truth of. She’d been blind to his divinity before, and had foolishly turned him down when he’d asked her out, but she was so deeply thankful that he had shown her the truth, allowed her the chance of redemption. And she served that redemption by taking all those that drew their beloved’s eye into the truth with them. So they may all show their love and be happy.
And just as she begins to finish up, a voice calls out “Telling stories Hiromi-chan?” the girl, Hiromi apparently, sighs dreamily and the entire cult begins to swarm for the door.
A tall lanky boy about Adrien’s age stood there, as expected, in a firefly themed hero costume. His face is riddled with acne scars and he’s at the point where he shouldn’t be growing facial hair but is trying anyway. An all around awkward young adult that hadn’t really hit his stride yet.
As everyone fawns over the guy Adrien lingers near the back. He DID remember this guy, as we can see in a hazy ‘from a trance’ flashback he DID remember being swept up by the firefly after getting hit with a dart and thinking himself in love with the punk, and how he’d whispered instructions into his ear, and Adrien’s very shaky grasp on Japanese had barely been enough to understand the directions he’d been given but he had. “I DO have another lover on the way my dear sweet ones!” the firefly coos out, caressing someone’s cheek, booping another’s nose.
“He’s already here Beloved!” Hiromi announces. “He’s still cooking!”
“No not him Hiromi-chan you stupid little thing…” Firefly sighs and Hiromi giggles as if he was flirting with him. “A bank teller. It’s not easy keeping so many beautiful little things afloat without anyone working, but our new lover Yuki will have us arranged for a NICE long while~”
As the Firefly goes through the others he gives sometimes personalized compliments, sometimes clear insults, and the people there were giggling and sighing as if some of the vile things out of his mouth were the most romantic. When he finally reaches Adrien the Firefly reaches down and grabs his chin so he was looking at him.
“A foreign beauty… I’ve seen your commercials. Back when you would do them. Your brand did well in Kyoto for a while when I was growing up… Adrien, right?”
Adrien (as seen in a little ‘inner adrien’ bubble behind him) is SUPER grossed out by the hold but nods when he hears his name. “I don’t understand what you’re saying you creepy son of a bitch~” he sighs out in French.
But the Miraculouses translate, as we know.
“Excuse me?”
“GUYS NOW!” Adrien yanks away and kicks at the firefly’s hand to knock him off him.
The ceiling crashes down, and Ryuuko is directly in front of Adrien, her sword drawn and aimed at the Firefly’s neck, just under his chin. “Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t hurt you for messing with my boyfriend’s head.”
Ladybug lands down beside Adrien, her yo-yo spinning around at her side as she looks Adrien over. “He didn’t hurt you or anything, right?”
“No, I’m fine.” He answers, passing the baton to Kenji as he lands behind them. “Keep him busy, I’ll get the others out of here.”
Kenji nods and twists the baton, it lightens to about the length of a kendo sword and he grins at the Firefly wildly.
From here we see in quick flashes of a fight. As Firefly calls on his cult to defend him, Kenji is able to disarm several easily, Ladybug able to restrain more, and Adrien is readily following behind them taking darts out of body parts.
And then you hear a loud ‘thump’ and a cry.
And Kagami has just punched Firefly square in the face. And he’d gone down immediately.
“Release them!” she grabs him by the collar of his outfit. “Release them or I’ll blacken the other eye.”
“OKAY OKAY!”
“We’re giving her extra cuddles when we get home, yeah?” “Oh definitely.” “GOD she looks good doing that” “It’s truly the act of evil to have convinced me to try and leave a woman like that.”
After the… hilariously anticlimactic battle, and one of the kids calling Tomoe to get the cops sent in, Kagami was able to yank off the miraculous, revealing it to be a small broach that while hidden appears as a heart, but when active unfolds into a clover.
The Kwami that arises from it is, of course, a firefly themed Kwami.
"Hiya! I'm Amooru!"
She is the aspect of love, and you can tell that she is because she’s IMMEDIATELY cozying up to the other heroes. Happily settling into Kenji’s hand as she spoke about her powers with minimum prompting.
Her power ‘Infatuation’ can do exactly as stated and create a feeling of infatuation that can either be granted to a pair of people, or on one person toward the ‘next person they saw’ and her old wielder, her dear Masashi, was just SO bereaved of love that he went too far, and- well she couldn’t DENY him anything! She loved him so so much! So she sort of… was straining herself a bit past her limits to let him keep the transformation up and getting multiple people at once and… making the effects last longer…
He had such a sweet face she couldn’t help herself! Amooru admits that she’d been straining herself to such a degree that her Miraculous nearly broke… so she supposed it’s for the best that they found her but… she’d miss her Masashi…
All four adults look at each other and immediately think “we cannot let the Order get her.”
Kenji, since she was in his hand, gently reached up and nudges the kwami’s face with a finger. “Hey little one… you should probably take a break, huh? I know you were fond of Masashi,”
“Even though he was a sexist creep that love potioned a small army worth of people because he felt entitled to a relationship and didn’t think to realize it was because he was an extremely unpleasant person to be around not because of his physical state” Marinette flatly cuts in
“-BUT he wasn’t treating you very well if he was working to make you feel so strained that you almost got hurt…”
“No no- I'm fine.” Amooru broke her words with a yawn, as she stopped floating and settled into Kenji’s palm to take a nap. “I’ll be fine… I just need… do you have any watermelon…?”
“We’re gonna need to make a stop at a corner store before we head back home..” Kenji observed with the little god in his hand before offering her to Marinette, who gently takes the pin and the Kwami and tucks her in close and the broach onto her lapel. It turns into a simple broach upon doing so, flower shaped like the design on her shirt
Kenji properly returns Plagg to Adiren whom begins rapidly apologizing for ditching his little guy, Plagg huffs and puffs but bops himself onto Adrien’s forehead saying he’s glad his dumbest stinkiest kitten ever is okay.
On the walk home, corner store watermelon in hand Kenji states very idly that he’s glad that there’s a corner store nearby the estates.
“For trips later in the week?” Adrien wonders.
“For… when I have to stay here..” he responds. After a long silence Kagami shouts a “WHAT?!”
“Yeah- ahaha-” Kenji’s clearly trying to keep it light. And even more clearly failing. “So Grandma and Grandpa want me to stay so they can train a real heir out of me, they said you’re a lost cause and all and so they don’t want to bother but there’s time worth saving in me or whatever so it’d just be the better option to just go with it, you know? I’m an adult. I can probably just get an apartment near whatever university I convince them to let me go to…”
“Kenji what are you talking about-” Kagami darts from her place in the group to stand between Kenji and the rest of them. “Why would you just GO with that? What about Gavroche?!”
“Gavroche can deal- he knows my family is important. But- the Old Order knows most of you guys are still based in Paris. They’re going to come back. You guys need to have as many STAYING there to meet them as you can. I know a bunch of you guys are off and on missions and junk, but you gotta have enough people staying where they expect or they’ll just start gunning it for Shanghai again, right? And those three probably can’t hold the temple like they are with full concentrated force on them.”
Kagami is pissed, she super doesn’t buy this. But she huffs and marches back to the others and angrily latches onto Marinette’s arm.
“They threatened to send me here. He’s doing that stupid older sibling thing where he’s an unending martyr for no good reason. I’m going to kill him.”
Adrien reaches over and gives Kagami a gentle head pap. “‘S okay ‘gami, me and Bugaboo were talking while you were yelling and we’ve got an idea.”
But soon enough they were back at the estates, Kenji waits until the others file in, only to stumble on his own step inside behind the rest.
“What…?” he feels around in the pocket of one of his yukata sleeves and pulls out Amooru and the broach she comes with. He looks back up at the group and they’re all grinning cheekily back at him. “Call it a parting gift!” Marinette chirps.
“Maybe get your family to actually start caring about each other!” Adrien adds on.
“Come on Kenji, we have more relatives to ruin our reputation in front of.”
Kenji rolls his eyes and laughs, catching up with the lot of them.

I can probably guess the answer, but what did you think of seasons 4 and 5 of Miraculous Ladybug? And what about the movie?
We didn't really watch seasons 4 or 5 since at that point the interest in canon was... in hell. a couple of episodes here or there, yeah, but we'd both lost faith in the show at that point. And form what either of us have heard of them, we didn't miss much.
The movie on the other hand, while simple (and as a theatre kid the songs.... hurt....) definitely was an improvement. there were some elements we thought needed work, but- when Astruc said 'the movie gives you what you want the series gives you what you need' i guess he didn't realize we need narrative catharsis, because though it's hardly perfect the movie actually completed the damn narrative
and really, in the end that i feel like is what people both wanted AND needed for a good show

Tell me, why did you decide to make the old Miraculous Order antagonists?
Short answer: we thought it would be more interesting
Long Answer: From our experience, the kind of supervillain hawkmoth is, isn't sustainable for as long as he was active in the series, Even as he gained more power the formula for the show is never really broken, and as such he got stale around the time he became Shadowmoth- an interesting villain needs to do more than sit in the dark cackling. For instance- I spent a long time in the ninja turtles fandom and i can say from experience you have to know when to let the Shredder not fight the turtles. if you have one villain who's shtick never changes, then he becomes stale the second things become formulaic
Hawkmoth got away with it for awhile with the different kind of akumas he could make but even those started to get repetitive, and as such, if we wanted to keep the story interesting, we needed to change things before he overstayed his welcome and we had in mind the origonal idea for Paon being as Zag had once promised us ('she will make Hawkmoth look like a baby' and all that) but when we figured out the way Amok's work in canon and how we figured it would be best to adapt to we had the same problem of it continuing with a formula. And when the Order of Miraculous got brought up as a concept we figured that that connection to a larger world of magical items would be much more interesting if it wasn't just 'shows up like two or three episodes and then dips' since it had HUGE implications for the rest of the greater ML world, so-
In the end it would make for a more interesting story. since we had the idea for Gabriel starting to actually question what he was doing getting wrapped up in a war he didn't ask for was the perfect way for him to realize they'd lost the thread of what they were doing this for.
The New Order was to help the heroes grow, the old order was to help the villains grow

Sorry to bother you guys, but what were the powers of the Old Order again?
No problem~
okay so in order of appearence we've got
The Scorpion- with 'Vengance' it can turn an opponent's attack back around on them, be it magical or physical
The Wolf- with 'Dispel' they can cancel out any magic ability currently in use
The Macaw - With 'Commune' they can converse with and command any animal in the area
The Spider - With 'Venom' they can paralyze an opponent (since we changed the bee's power we just recycled venom here)
The Dolphin - With 'Liberation' they can free their surroudning compatriots from something that binds them, either mental or physical
The Lion - With 'Judgement' they can peer into a person's past, and highlight the important moments in their history that have lead them down the path they're currently on
The Octopus - With 'Assist' they can be given a summary of a person's current problems and the best steps they can take to solve them.

Hey, Richard from the server here! My computer isn't working, and I don't have access to the server on my phone's Discord yet, so can you resend the invite, please?
Heya Richard!
Unless you had to make a completely new account, which may be the case, we don’t know, any servers will still be accessed across platforms.
If this is a different account because you lost access completely to your old one, then we doublechecked and the link on the page should still be active; we set it to never expire.
However, if there are still problems, send us another ask and we’ll figure it out from there. Sorry you’re having some technical issues.

She looks great! Bridget was a lot of fun to write and We're really glad her design as Nimh hit off the way it did!
And I agree, Bidget's transformation would have some real Sailor Moon vibes to it
Tumblr media
Fanart for @miraculous-rewrite. Thank you guys so much for making ML miraculous once more. Do check out their blog if you're a miraculous fan sick & tired of canon screwing things over.
Here we have Nimh! Full of energy and ready to smile as she kicks ass and take names. I apologize for my subpar coloring skills. Pretty sure it looked much better before i colored it but oh well, live and learn.
Did I listen to Sailor Moon- Moonlight Dentetsu as I drew this? Hell yeah. You cannot tell me Bridgette wouldn't strike a Sailor Moon pose during her transformation.

Hi, Mod Vega, is it alright if I draw fanart for your blog/rewrite fic? I rlly enjoyed how you & Mod Aimee singlehandedly salvaged a show that canon utterly ruined and would be honored if I can draw a piece of art of you, even if it's not digital.
-grabs you by the shoulders-
-holds you gently-

I discover this just a month ago and it's already ending!?!?!?! BOO! I haven't exactly been keeping up with the canon show (considering how frustrated some people are with the romance plot line it's probably a good thing) but I have managed to watch a few episodes to understand what's going on in the rewrite. Definitely gonna reread these once I have time. - Pixel Anon

Well, we're glad you enjoyed the ride anyway Pixel Anon! even if it was short!

An Announcement
Okay Guys, here's the deal.
A few of you have been theorizing it, and we've mentioned it breifly on the discord, but we're a week out from the ending of Miraculous Rewrite, and it's time to make it official.
We're making our own version of Miraculous World.
How that's going to go is, we have four planned, and we will admit we don't have a LOT of places to go in mind, simply on the matter that we'd like to actually do the places we're writing for justice, and don't want to fall into old tropes.
Our Planned spinoffs will be taking the fight to
New York San Fransico Tokyo and back to Shanghai
Old Faces will be seen and new ones introduced, and if any (or all of them!) do well enough well... Something extra fun may be in store
We don't have release dates just yet, we're still working out the story kinks, but for now, Stay Miraculous, cuz we're not done here yet
