I’m just picturing Ken as a dad and he’d be so sweet 🥹 he holds his and Barbie’s baby for the first time and he would probably cry bc his secret wish is finally coming true 😭 I can also see Barbie and Ken being fascinated by human pregnancy too since they both only had Midge to go by. Also if it’s easier to DM you just lmk because I don’t want to clog your ask box lol

People writing Ken as an abuser makes me cringe SO much. He loves her so much, and one of the things I liked most about your fic was that he got to fall in love with her Outside of his programming. He’s her biggest cheerleader and I love that he gets to do it as her husband 🥹

Do you foresee Ken being a househusband permanently? I can see him going either way, mainly bc I’ve been toying around with the idea of him wanting a job where he can Help people

A slowburn romance that breaks outside of the walls of a doll's programming into something defiant, spiritual and thoroughly human is perhaps too profound for the writers of the movie, I fear.

Not permanently! For one, I don't think he would become a househusband until they become parents. I think Ken's someone who's so curious and eager, that he'd definitely spend any spare time trying to at least volunteer or otherwise make himself useful to the community in some way (even if it meant taking a baby in a carrier with him). I could see him doing more lifeguard work as their child(ren) grow older too.

#Barbie would continue to be this sort of pioneering force speaking for a wider community and Ken would be more of a homebody #but both voices are equally important and helpful and balance each other out - and that's what matters!

thank you so much for giving me the okay to reach out i just want to say that I haven’t stopped thinking about the AOBTM universe since I finished it lmao. I was elated to find a Barbie/Ken fic that didn’t portray him as an abuser. He got to be sensitive and kind and 🥹sorry if this is a bit ramble-y; there was a lot more I wanted to say in my original comment but I didn’t want to edit it too much lol

It's so warming to know the fic's made such a good impression on you! Trust me, it took a very long time to shake it from the core of my daily thoughts too, haha.

See, I feel like the idea of Ken being in any way abusive is completely off the mark from how I perceived his character. Ryan Gosling himself has always pushed the idea very eagerly that Ken is Barbie's cheerleader and he thinks the absolute world of her, no matter what, and I don't think that ever changed - yes, even during the patriarchy plot. I don't think I could ever write Ken to needlessly hurt Barbie or treat her as lesser for being a woman, but it's each to their own!

I am honestly terrible for rambling, so I appreciate any rambles headed my way! Thank you again for leaving the comment you did, because it really made my evening.

I can't believe that we are almost in the year 2024, and I'm in a fight on Tik Tok about the year on Neal Cassidy's wanted poster.

As though it's not a date and year he pulled out of his ass. I suppose they think he was born in New Jersey as well since that's what the damn wanted poster says and not the Frontlands in Misthaven.🙄

Friendly reminder that when bullshitting a birthday, you can lie about your age. Neal probably did to make himself seem older, so he could avoid the foster system and get a job at an earlier age.

He was 15 when he left Neverland. He probably lied and said he was 18 or 19, so he's probably (at least) 3 or 4 years younger than what his wanted poster says.
