good god oleander must be good at producing mental constructs... thinking about how his entire level is a mental construct and it isn't until the very end that raz accidentally sees a little bit of his actual mind. saw someone point out how there are no censors or real enemies in his basic braining course, and sure it's a tutorial level, but sasha also said they're a part of any sane person's mind. yeah.
and his whole deal with boyd, like how complex those mental structures were? the whole idea of turning the milkman into some sort of security failsafe? planted that deep into boyd's psyche? super complex and cool.
the chad mental construct champion oleander vs. amateur hour "immediately crumbling" mental construct sasha

i finished the doc a few days ago- and definitely want to replay the game after watching all of it. really revived all the love i had for that game and its long journey. wild to realize i was a teen when it started and it released when i was 22.
theres sooooo much to say about the documentary... i cant even begin to express it. i think its fantastic to see the development- hard parts and all. cuz despite things that go wrong it doesnt make me lose respect of anyone- people gotta understand creative jobs arent just.. easy laid back utopias. ive been in and around the tv/animation industry, and as much as i absolutely love the creative careers because of my own passions, its not easy- if anything its very hard for unique reasons that are hard to show outside of the studios.
additionally the doc really gave me a good idea of the progression of game development. now sure, DF has its own ways of doing things compared to others (this is common in the creative industry), and the work of a huge team is different than that of a lone indie dev. but still, it was a huge eye opener and gave me some thoughts for my own looks into game dev.
stuff like this is very valuable to me. the game industry is way more "mysterious" than other industries imo. i do wish we had a little mor einsight on tim's writing process/more details in the choices made for character back stories (esp the direction changes for Ford and Raz's which im sure we can assume it was due to the stereotypes/dated terms but still). regardless it is a great watch and i look forward to replaying with that knowledge.

I'm only on episode 10 of the documentary and man I am just. So so intrigued to figure out how helmut's level turned into what it is. The theme is there and the loose idea is vaguely there. I'm so glad this series exists its such a great look into game production.

The whole thing is just making me so like... happy all over again. I'm sure a lot of long time fans feel the same way but the journey of pn2, even the parts we obviously haven't seen until this doc series, was such a ride and to actually see it get made way so inspiring. Now seeing the emotional and personal detail of that journey makes it hit even more tbh.
starting to watch the documentary and ugh its already so good and im emotional. its so funny watching the first episode and going over pn1 and getting the tense 'oh god what if it doesnt work out...' lmao

(Original ask from @crowravenrook) So! It turns out I’ve drawn so many panels they don’t fit in a single post anymore, changing my plans for waiting to instead show 10 at once and then post the rest of it in another post. I’ll make sure to edit this one with the link when it’s ready.
ALSO: This is set post-game when they’ve already built up enough trust for this whole interaction.
[Short ID: A 10 panel comic responding to an ask from crowravenrook about what powers Harry and Kim have in a Psychonauts au. The comic shows them discussing if Kim is psychic. /End ID]
Long ID under the cut:

Reminder that the Psychonaut wiki on Fandom is not always a good source of information and can be riddled with random bits of misinformation and straight-up lies.
It’s useful for finding images like screenshots, textures, and concept art, but some of the stand-alone renders use inaccurate lighting that affects how the colors on the characters are perceived. (which, btw, if you’re looking for color references, PLEASE use the textures, NOT the renders!)
If you check the wiki to reference something, keep in mind that if you don’t remember something listed in the wiki happening in the games, and the wiki does not state where this is stated in canon, then that bit of information is probably not trustworthy.
A non-comprehensive list of inaccuracies that were on the wiki for far too long:
Specific ages for the Thorney Towers inmates, who have no canon ages
Inaccurate descriptions of the effects of psitanium as stated in canon
Character descriptions that blatantly contradict the images of the characters (such as saying that Ford carries a “backpack full of psitanium”)
Random character sexuality headcanons being stated as canon
A statement that Ford canonically has DID that he was cured of, which caused a lot of people outside the fandom to be very understandably angry
Sasha being listed as Norma’s mentor, which is neither mentioned nor implied anywhere in the game
Voice actors for alternate language dubs of the game that do not exist
Just to name a few. There’s probably more still there that I haven’t seen.
Wikis are a fandom-wide project, so if you can, be sure to correct any inaccuracies you find there. And again, if you’re using it as a reference, use it with caution.
