Little America -- Nursery and Playground
Children are our future, and there is nothing better for little children than play. Liberty Lane is well equipped for even the smallest of Vault residents, thanks to its large, comfortable nursery room and park-like playground area. Overseen by registered nurse and grandmother Helena Diaz, the nursery is a safe, quiet environment for the Vault’s little ones, and is also where the Kindergarten class come in the afternoon for nap and storytime. The playground is generally unsupervised except for recess hour, and parents are advised to watch their children outside of school hours.

Little America: The Schoolrooms
Located off Liberty Lane, down the hall, past the Overseer’s office and the nursery, along a gently-descending stairwell that eventually terminates in the vast archives of the Vault, are the schoolrooms of Little America.
The first at the top is the Grammar school, Kindergarten-4th grade:
7:00-10:00 - Kindergarten
10:30-2:30 - 1st / 2nd Grade
3:00-6:30 - 3rd / 4th Grade
Kindergarten class goes to the nursery room at 10am for naptime from 10:30-11:30, then all classes meet in classroom for lunch at 11:45am and go to recess in the playground from 12-12:20pm. Kindergarteners return to the nursery room from 12:20-6:30pm for quiet supervised play and storytime, 1st and 2nd graders go to the archives for computer training and independent reading from 2:30-6:30.
The second level is the Intermediate school, 5th-8th grade
7:00-12:00 - 5th / 6th grade
1:00-6:00 - 7th / 8th grade
All students meet in the cafe for lunch from 12pm-12:45pm and meet for two Saturday study sessions per month from 1:00-6:00 in the Archives room. When not in classes (morning students after 1pm and afternoon students before 12pm) students are expected to be in assigned work areas. All students spend at least one month in each of the work areas of the Vault, learning the basics of their upkeep and how they run.
The third level is the Graduate school, 9th-12th grades. Classes alternate lecture days:
9th grade: 8:00-1:00 Mondays and Wednesdays
10th grade: 2:00-7:00 Mondays and Wednesdays
11th grade: 8:00-1:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays
12th grade: 2:00-7:00 Tuesdays and Thursdays
On Fridays and Saturdays, all students attend work-study throughout the Vault. By 10th grade students are expected to have chosen a work area within the Vault in which to specialize, and when student graduates 12th grade, or turns 18 (whichever comes first) they are considered full workers of the Vault and are given their permanent work assignments.
Students have a two-hour free period for lunch either before or after their lecture period; 9th and 11th graders from 1-3pm, 10th and 12th graders from 12-2pm.
When not in lectures, students are expected to be studying, either in the Archives or at home, assisting in work areas of the Vault, or engaging in physical activity such as exercise or swimming.

Little America - Overseer’s Office
Overseer Clayton Goodman (and his 2-year-old son Travis) resides in the Liberty Lane neighborhood of Little America, where he can observe the lives of the thousand-odd people who are under his care. His office has a utilitarian sparseness of decor, but this fits well with his style of leadership. Above the office is the residence he shares with his son, similarly sparsely decorated but fitted for their comfort with soft beds, plenty of storage and a flatscreen television broadcasting prewar television recordings and announcements for the Vault, and features an attached bathroom.
Overseer Personnel File:
Goodman, Clayton
Occupation: Overseer (formerly a plumber)
Nationality: White American
Goodman, Travis
Occupation: Toddler (Age 2)

Current Project: Vault 88 -- “Little America”
Appearance:
An enclosed fully-functioning society based on pre-war American culture and ideals. Taking pride in American diversity and exceptionalism -- nowhere but America can so many, from so many backgrounds, stand united! Whether you’re a resident of Liberty Lane, Freedom Trail, Independence Avenue, and Patriot Square, you can rest assured that thanks to you, the American dream will live on!
Vault-Tec Thesis:
Despite ‘pre-war’ styling, limitations in construction led to the use of Vault-style assets (original design intended one large Atrium-style structure with small pre-war houses similar to Sanctuary Hills concept). Population is to be as diverse a sampling as possible -- interview questions based on morals, attitudes and prejudices determine suitability for Experiment, sampling for extremes in temperament. Overseer is unaware of Vault-Tec’s intend with Experiment, but is instructed to report twice weekly on population morale.
(Due to game limitation only one of four proposed ‘neighborhoods’ will be constructed)
Amenities & Facilities:
Beyond the usual work areas (reactor, water purification, hydroponics, medical facilities, archives), Little America boasts full K-12 educational facilities (in three age groups: 5-9, 10-14, 15-19), a beautifully appointed space for religious services or community meetings, children’s play areas (nursery & playground facility), cafeteria-style dining made daily by 4-star chef Al Rodriguez, barbershop & beauty parlor, a fully-stocked commissary with anything you may have left behind, and -- the icing on the cake -- an Olympic-size swimming pool complete with picnic area and showers.
