something like this.
Have you guys seen that dog skull Skulls Unlimited just posted on their FB page? I’ve never seen anything like it. Worst osteosarcoma I’ve ever seen by leaps and bounds. Poor pup. It honestly looks like a skull from one of the dog mimics in The Thing.

what's the most recent mushroom fact you learnt??
THANK YOU FOR ASKING THIS !!
carnivorous fungi : fungi that derive some or most of their nutrients from consuming microscopic or minute animals.
most of these species trap & stun nematode worms (pictured below), making them nematophagous organisms.
Tumblr media
other carnivorous fungi may attack amoebae or collembola (pictured below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
fungi trap & eat these tiny animals in two main ways :
constricting rings (also called active traps)
adhesive structures (also called passive traps)
some fungi have a profound ability to "sense" when a nematode worm is near before activating their "traps". scientists are unsure how they evolved this ability without proper brains.
in total, there are about 150 species of fungi that attack, kill & digest animals.
a good example is pleurotus ostreatus (pictured below), which uses a calcium-dependent toxin to paralyse its prey (nematode worms) within minutes, & leads to necrosis of the miniscule animal. it acts as quite a protein-rich food source !!
Tumblr media
another fun fact : i used to farm these at home :-)

a post for my fellow cotard's delusion beings 💚
(warning for food related talk and issues with that, feel free to ignore!)
eating i know is really, really hard when you don't physically need food! i totally understand that, it seems like a pointless activity, but i promise it isn't!
i've been struggling myself with eating for many years now, and lately it has been almost impossible, but there's some things you can do to mentally make you feel better! even if you don't need the nutrients, it's almost like a little booster to your current stats.
i try to view it as being a zombie, and we alll know zombies love to eat. another thing that has helped me a lot was when someone in the endel server let me know that in its religion, it follows practices that feed the dead, and that eating while dead is like accepting a gift from the living. i know thinking of it that way really helped me.
some things you can do to eat that are simple!
always keep a stock of nutritional shakes to drink! this is something you should try not to run out of, because they really do make you feel better
i like hot dogs! you can grill em and keep em in the fridge and they microwave easy! they're really tasty too and eating simple meats like that reinforces the zombie feelings
microwave burritos are surprisingly good and really easy and quick to make
eat whenever others eat! eating with your human friends/family can be really nice as a social activity! you don't have to eat much, but your human friends will love it if you do! it's a very meaningful human activity to do, and it makes others happy :>
if you can, putting on a movie/show/youtube video can get you in the mood to snack! make some popcorn! add some salt, you'll thank me later!
this is just a little list, but i'm always willing to share more! happy eating, undead friends! 🧟👻💀

WHAT IS COTARD'S DELUSION/SYNDROME?
cotard's delusion, is the belief that one's body or part of one's body is dead or does not exist. this can manifest in believing your body is dead, you lack a soul, your organs are dying, you lack blood, etc. many also view themselves as immortal or simply negate the fact that they exist at all.
cotard's is a somatic delusion meaning that the person experiencing this delusion believes there is something physically happening to their body. it's not just feeling like you're dead and knowing you are alive in a depressive sense and more like you are physically dead in some fashion.
cotard's delusion can be seen in many disorders, usually in people with psychotic disorders. though it can sometimes be seen in depression and also due to head trauma, epilepsy, dementia, and many other physical factors.
to people experiencing cotard's delusion, this is a an unshakeable belief that cannot be changed. the person experiencing this delusion may be able to double bookkeep, basically meaning the person experiencing the delusion can recognize that reality and the delusional reality they experience are both real. accepting that they are experiencing a delusion but are not able to just completely stop believing the delusion.
people with cotard's syndrome usually struggle with eating since many view it as pointless due to their body being dead. they may also stuggle with hygiene, socializing, and performing every day tasks. many stop taking care of themselves. those with psychotic symptoms may also hear voices and experience hallucinations of all types that influence the delusion.
cotard's is usually considered under the delusional misidentification syndrome umbrella. some people experiencing this delusion may see themselves as undead and prefer not to be referred to as living. some terms created to refer to different cotard's experiences can be found here.
hope this has been helpful and informative! 💚🧟‍♂️👻💀
