Thinking about when I worked at a shitty restaurant + one night it was just me + 3 other women on closing shift, so some guy came in the back and waved a knife around, presumably for money but I’m not actually certain, bc he was met with the bartender holding a much bigger knife, a tiny teenager wielding a cast iron pan, an elderly woman holding up a crockpot of clearly boiling water, and me, turning on the meat slicer with eye contact for maximum effect. He left, but the moral of the story is not girl power or whatever, it’s just. Why the fuck would you threaten a room full of underpaid and sleep-deprived blue-collar workers surrounded by lethal weapons.

seeing this part is what actually convinced me that ryoko kui knew about autism and wrote the siblings like that on purpose

i struggled finding way to explain why until now

as you can see ever since he was a kid Laios was especially sensitive to other people's expectations, which stresses him out. but Falin herself didn't seem to notice.

yet as adults we see that they grow up to be seemingly opposite of who they were as kids. as per his relationship with Shuro we could see that Laios didn't notice Shuro's distaste against him at all until he was told and with Falin she pays special attention to people and takes care of them to the point that becomes her most memorable trait to her teammates.

honestly it's the kind of progression that i've seen a lot among autistic adults. for laios i usually see it among people who finally found a comfortable space to be themselves and be immersed in their special interest. the happiness can get you kinda tunnel-visioned.

while with falin i feel like she's similar to me where we realized that the things other people usually notice easily doesn't come naturally at us so we end up compensating by working hard at being considerate to our friends but ends up being able to notice little tells others don't usually see

sometimes it's not even two different people, sometimes it's the same autistic person going through all of that

hi psa: the second someone apologizes for being excited about something, that is the moment you start talking about it with 10x the enthusiasm because 100% guaranteed they have, at some point in their life, been shamed or told shut up or calm down about something that brought them joy and learned to apologize for taking up space and expressing themselves - learned to make themselves smaller- and that’s the absolute worst feeling in the whole world so please, the moment they apologize or say “I’ll shut up now”, you start talking about it for them, hype it up, encourage them to talk your ear off and participate in their excitement. We want their passion, we want their excitement, joy and love. We do not want to be stunted and bitter and angry like the ones who tried to stifle us, we want to foster and nurture the glow in their eyes and the sound of their voice speeding up with exhilaration

Okay, but consider that if tabletop complied with lore, we may have never been blessed with this 15-second voice-over.

Tabletop not being very lore accurate does not make it much less stupid to have the armour penetration being so low on weapons that are suposed LITERALY IGNORE ARMOUR

Okay? Tabletop is full of inconsistent adaptations of things, which are all stupid. Yeah, the sword that ignores armour has bad AP. A bloodthirster will also be, mathematically, killed by a couple thousand guardsmen with lasguns on the tabletop. A transcendant C'tan doesn't immediately wipe the table. The Phoenix Lords are like a third as valuable as Primarchs. I can make a million stupid comparisons, because it's all kinda stupid.

The days were long and I traveled far, but in the end, I had found what I sought, came back to my lodging with my prize in hand, and diligently put it to use in my garden.

The lengths I went to do this may have seemed to be much more than necessary, but the places I went, the creatures I saw, and the experiences I had made it worth the while.

It may not have been the most productive, but damn it all if I didn't have a wonderful time and new tales to share with my dog as we snuggle up to sleep even as the monsters make their usual ruckus outside.

Thinking really hard about Nahida hiding/repressing alot of her more childish mannerisms because the Sages openly resented her for having them and being an inadequate god as a result in her early life, but these traits are things Wanderer actively likes about her because he gets along well with kids :(

Like say She gets a little embarrassed when he notices her splashing in puddles when it rains, or tinker with human toys because as it’s mentioned in her character stories the Sages refused to give her some (if any at all), but he always just goes along with it and doesn’t mind her being silly (him giving him the Hat Guy nickname would fall under this). Wanderer strikes me as someone who finds childlike joy & innocence kind of comforting/cathartic to be around especially as something he can trust so I like to imagine this is an extra thing that makes him just genuinely enjoy Nahida’s presence. And it’s great for Nahida because I think she really benefits from having someone on more equal footing as her who she can be more of a kid with
