Ok so, I've been doing some online reading at The Anarchist Library. (Website with good books, articles, and other things relating to leftist ideas)
I just finished reading "A civilian's guide to direct action" and it's wonderful. It's given me a lot of information I felt I was missing about the how of activism. Go read it if you think you'd benefit from it. (I think you will)

it's so wild when people complain about religious inclusion like "oh so you think THEY should get special privileges/accommodations to do x, y, or z??"
and the things they're talking about are like. exceptions to rules or norms that in themselves shouldn't exist. yes Richard, we actually should have diverse meal options at work events to accommodate people with different diets. yes, people should be allowed to take time off to be with their family during whatever holidays or life events they so choose. yes, people should be able to wear clothing that makes them comfortable. nobody should be happy about these restrictions existing. stop bitching about the singular jewish or muslim person in your workplace and realize that everyone deserves better.

Yeahhh, am genuinely baffled by people who actually have this mindset cause as this post and its comments point out, this is a potentially dangerous way of thinking.
Landlords are awful because they hoard buildings that could've been used to provide cheap housing, then charge large sums of money every month that can sometimes go above the price of most mortgages in the area, and use that to expand their capital extraction. Not to mention, many landlords today are more like landboards as they're companies trying siphon money for themselves and their shareholders.
They directly target individuals in bad situations who often don't have any other choice because houses are far too expensive up front (Partially because a lot of the cheap housing was bought up by landlords/boards). And since we rely on a credit system that works against young and poor people, it's incredibly difficult for them to get a housing loan, forcing them to get an overly expensive, often shitty apartment just to keep from being homeless.
I hate landlords because they use predatory tactics to exploit people by using a resource that is essential for survival and should be free to begin with. I don't give a fuck if they work or not.
What I do care about is how people get the money that they do make and how they're treating others to get it. It's a 'morally bad thing' to assign value and morality to work. If you use that line of thinking as an argument against landlords/billionaires/etc., then that makes you no better than the capitalists most of y'all are say you're against.

“You dont want kids? I said the same thing at your age. You’ll realize later.”
“You’re trans? You’re too young to know that. You’ll grow out of it.”
“You’re an atheist? You don’t actually disbelieve, you’re just mad at god. One day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess.”
“You’re a leftist? You’ll become more conservative eventually; every generation does when they come into contact with The Real World™️”
“You’re gay/ace/queer? You just havent met the right man/woman yet.”
If you say any of the above things give me your personal information so i can harm you

Online leftists will be like "My enemies deserve death." Not realizing that thinking about the world in terms of who deserves what is the problem that got us here in the first place, and it is only by thinking about what your enemies need in order to be better (and what your allies and the world and the oppressed need) can healing and change happen. We cant overthrow systems of oppression by adopting the same oppressive mindsets that got us there in the firat place. Stop talking about wanting to hurt and kill your enemies and do the hard work of loving them instead. I dont want to tear down capitalism only for a new oppressive form of society to take its place, I want a socialism that values humans full stop with no caveats or asterisks.

one of my absolute favorite conversations i have with random gentiles goes like this:
me: i face a lot of harassment and weirdness when i wear a kippah and star of david in public.
gentile: ok but u could just not wear them.
me: i mean yeah but i do.
gentile: but u could just not wear them and then ppl wouldn’t harass u and be weird to u.
me: yeah maybe but i do wear them.
gentile: but u have the option not to.
me: correct. but i choose the option to wear them.
gentile: but if u didn’t wear them then no one would know.
me: sure. but i do wear them.
and it goes round and round and round in a circle for like 20 minutes bc goyim cannot comprehend why i would not want to just shut up and assimilate.
anyway here’s ur reminder that telling ppl who are being oppressed or discriminated against to just hide whatever it is that people are targeting them for is contributing to said oppression and discrimination. forced assimilation is violence, and telling people “just don’t do/wear/say x thing that’s a core part of your identity” makes you complicit in that violence, if not actively a part of it.

I once met a man named Andy while I was walking to the bus after work. He was standing out in the snow in the middle of December in single digit temperatures, holding a sign asking for money on the side of the street. I walked right up to him and handed him a $20 bill. I don't think I've ever seen such displief and joy be expressed by one person before. He thanked me profusely, even asking me for a hug. I didn't think for even a second about whether or not this could be a scam cause either way, it was clear he was desperate.
Just about everyone standing on the side of the road asking for money are desperate to some degree. Even if they're not homeless, they're still clearly struggling to get by on whatever income they got, if they even have one.
You typically don't stand out in the sun on a hot day or out in the snow on a cold day for potentially hours on end asking for money because your life is going well.
In my opinion, if I've got money to spare, it's better in their hands than mine.
people ask me why I always give money to people on the street even if they might be scammers and I tell them it's because I remember a time when I was stuck trying to get onto the subway and my card was out of money and the machine was broken and the teller was gone so I asked a bunch of people if I could give them the fare in cash in exchange for them swiping their card for me.
all of them said no, and some of them were huge assholes about it. because they thought I was trying to scam them out of what, two fucking dollars???
capitalism has given people brainrot. and I trust people when they say they need help because when I'm in a similar situation, I'd like people to do the same to me.

Anyway here is your reminder that poor effeminate men existed in the 18th century and any reading of class that acts as tho every poor man was a hyper masculine rugged labourer and every rich man was a effeminate fop is an inherently flawed reading of class 🙃

I think part of the reason that hierarchy seems so inevitable is that it’s a lot easier to recognise and remember individual leaders than it is to remember the cities worth of people they sent to die, or build our glittering skyscrapers, or discover new inventions.
