Headcanon

(All credits to clottedcreamfudge on ao3 who gave me this idea with Arthur)

So Alex and Henry gets the closest thing they can get as a biological child, which ends up in June being a surrogate with the help of Henry’s DNA. The child ends up with both Henry’s AND Alex DNA since June is Alex’s sister. They name him Arthur.

This kid is born and looks almost identical to Alex when he was a baby and he will grow up looking very much alike him. Small details that makes him not identical too Alex when he is growing up is that his face is a lot less square and more pointy like Henry’s, his a bit paler then Alex and he also has Henry’s cheekbones.

But the biggest difference is Arthur’s eyes: they are Henry’s eyes: blue.

Anyway, Arthur grows up as a only child and has a very close and joyful relationship with his dads. They are very open with everything and Arthur knows that June is his birth mom, but he treats her like the greatest aunt that she is.

So, when Arthur is a teen and whenever Arthur and Alex is in a playful fight, Arthur sometimes says: “You’re not my dad.”

And Alex acts like he is in shock and then only talks to him through Henry.

“Tell your son that he is grounded.”

“Your son has mail.”

“Tell your son that his cousin’s want him to visit.”

It’s a inside joke between the three of them.

But one time, Arthur and Alex were in a big argument and Henry tried to calm them down. Alex said something and Arthur just snapped and turned around and screaming: “SHUT UP!! YOU’RE NOT MY DAD!!”

Alex took a step back like he had been slapped in the face, mouth hanging open. Arthur froze in his place, shocked by his own words. Henry gasped Arthur’s name.

Alex, without a word, turned around, tears in his eyes, and left. Arthur tried to call out to him: “Papa, I’m- I didn’t mean too-“

But Alex was already slamming the door to his and Henry’s bedroom.

Arthur fell down to his knees and started crying, Henry walked up to him and hugged him close.

“I didn’t mean too, I- it just slipped out…” Arthur cried.

“I know you didn’t mean too, love. I know.” Henry gently told him.

About half an hour later, Henry knocked on their bedroom door, Arthur going to his own room, and laid down next to his husband, who was lying under the covers and who’s eyes were red and tears rolling down his cheeks.

“Hi, love.”

Alex only nodded.

“Don’t feel like talking?”

Alex shook his head.

“Alright.” Henry took a breath.

“You know he didn’t mean too, right? When you’re fighting with someone, you want to get an reaction from the other person. And in his mind, he knew that comment has effect on you when you’re not fighting for real. He knows you’re his dad. Even if it’s not biological, you’re his papa, and you will always be his papa. Do you understand me?”

Henry also had tears in his eyes now.

Alex got up and threw his arms around his husbands neck and they cried together.

Because of course Alex knew. He knew Arthur saw him as his father. He knew Arthur loved his unconditionally, but those words cut so deep because they were true. And although Alex never regretted having June as their surrogate instead of Bea, and although the feeling he had when he first got to hold Arthur in his arms and just knew he was now a dad… It had hurt so much when his son told him he wasn’t his dad.

A soft knock of the door and Arthur walked in, still crying and jumped on the bed and hugged Alex in a bone crushing grip.

“I’m so so sorry, papa. I didn’t mean too… I love you so so so much, please don’t be mad at me.”

The three of them cried together and they all made sure that everyone in that room loved each other more then anything.

After that, Arthur stopped saying the sentence: “You’re not my dad.”

When Alex and Henry meet up with Catherine and Bea before they’re about to meet the queen, Henry accidentally says:

And then realize what he just said and now everyone is starting at him, either with a shocking look on their face (but like also happy) or they are just smiling like idiots.

Alex flies forward, grabs Catherine’s hand and says with the biggest grin on his face:

“Hi, I’m his Alex.”

Head canon that not only 2 years after Henry and Alex were outed and Catherine in finally Queen and stuff, she gets diagnosed with breast cancer.

And the whole royal family is devastated. Henry is getting more and more depressed, Bea is locking herself in her room more and more often and Philip is getting more and more distant.

Catherine is trying to hold her head up, but everyone can clearly see she is struggling.

Henry, one night, impulsively drags Alex with him to the closet grocery store and buys a box of hair dye and the next morning the world watches the prince of Wales walking out of the Buckingham Palace with pink hair.

EVERYONE is freaking out. EVERYONE wants to know why the next day, princess Beatrice ALSO colors her hair pink. And the next day, wait a fucking minute: the oldest prince Philip TOO?????

NO ONE understands.

The former queen Mary is NOT looking happy at all with this, while the new Queen looks like she can’t stop smiling alongside with the First son Alex and princess Martha.

The hair dye washed out eventually and Queen Catherine beats the cancer and lives on a very happy life with her once, very closed off family, now a very close one.

But the next year, almost to the date, the royal siblings color their hair again?? Wtf is going on???

This continues for years, and when Alex, not longer the first son of the United States, is asked in an interview about it, he smiles and says:

“I’m I about to spill the truth about this tradition the royal family has had for years now? I sure as hell am!”

And he tells them that the reason the royal siblings started coloring their hair pink, once a month, every year, was because of The Queen Catherine. They wanted to support their mother during her illness and what better way to do in them coloring their hair pink during breast cancer month? And continue doing it over the years to remind her that they’re very proud of her.

“If I supported the decision? Hell yeah! I had just gotten to Buckingham Palace the night before, and when I woke up, Henry dragged me to the store, grabbed the hair dye and said : ‘please don’t tell mom’. Like come on! And I was like ‘Henry, baby, you’re almost 30. You don’t have to ask your mom for permission to color your hair!’ And I helped him, of course. You know, as a prince, he didn’t get the experiment with different hair colors or cutting his hair at home or getting random tattoos in someone’s kitchen. So we colored his hair and the next day, Bea ruched into Henry’s room with her on hair dye and demanded us to help her too. And after a few hours of begging and fighting with Philip, a lot of thanks to Martha, he agreed to do that as well. And you know, the rest of the world was freaked out, but I will never forget the moment I saw Catherine’s face when all of her kids sat down and showed her and told her the reason why they had done it. I still get tears in my eyes when I think about it. And who doesn’t like a Prince with pink hair? I know I don’t complain, haha!”

Headcanon that when Arthur passed away, Henry stopped talking. He didn’t say a single word for months. No one could get him to talk, not Bea, Shaan, Cathrine, Philip or his therapist. If he wanted to say something, he would write it down or his phone or a piece of paper. It went on for so long that he almost forgot how to speak.

So when Alex walked up to him at the Olympics and introduced himself, Henry sureprised himself and Shaan when his voice broke out och he spoke.

Alex didn’t find it surprising of course, he didn’t know.

So when Alex got in a big accident and got hurt pretty badly, Henry got triggered and stopped talking again.

Alex was really confused and worried why his boyfriend had stopped talking and why he wouldn’t let go of Alex at all. He didn’t have to have him pressed against him, it was enough with just a shoulder touch, holding hands or just grabbing onto Alex shirt. He just needed to be touching him, to know he was okay.

Bea kindly explained to Alex one time when Henry was asleep on his knees a couple of weeks later.

Alex embraced Henry in a big hug later that day and told him how much he loved him and how worried he was.

Henry cried and whispered he was sorry. That he the was gonna lose Alex in the accident which made him think of his dad and that had pushed his brain into not talking.

Alex told him he wasn’t angry, not at all, he was just worried and a little sad that he didn’t get to hear Henry’s voice.

They hugged and cried together that night, whispered lovely words to each other until they fell asleep.

Just random funny and cute moments when they actually became friends from everyone’s perspective.

Nora filming just the second before Alex and Henry walks out of the room when they’re gonna have their second kiss, the text being like: oh shits getting real.

June filming a TikTok like: my brother’s boyfriend had to leave for his home country for a month. This is how that went;
