i cannot fucking wait to see rhaenyra being crowned.

despite everything, she gets crowned with the crown that was her father's, the one made for her great-grandfather.

she gets crowned by daemon, her blood and flesh, her uncle and husband, her sworn sword and king consort.

she gets crowned in dragonstone, in her family seat, all black volcanic rock and dragons surrounding — the closest thing the targaryens have to valyria.

she gets crowned amongst the blacks, her family, her loyal supporters, the people that will fight and die for her.

she gets crowned as queen rhaenyra targaryen, first of her name, queen of the andals, the rhoynar and the first men, lady of the seven kingdoms — the only title she is not given is 'protector of the realm' which is claimed by daemon himself.

rhaenyra claims the title of the realm — but she has always been the realm: first as princess, then as heir.

daemon claims the title of the protector of the realm — but he has always been her protector: first as uncle, then as husband.

It’s beautiful how Daemon placed the crown of the Old King Jaehaerys on top of his brother, Viserys’ head when the dying man sat himself on the Iron Throne for the last time. Because eventually, he’s going to use that very same crown to coronate Rhaenyra, his wife, the rightful heir to the throne, at her coronation as the Black Queen.

Okay but there were so many moments between Daemon and Aemond in this episode.

Aemond watching Daemon slice off Vaemond's head with impunity. Aemond's admiration, his envy. The immediate obsession.

Aemond stopping mid-taunt when Daemon stepped in, recognizing that this was someone he couldn't bully. A foe he couldn't cut down.

Daemon seeing the one-eyed boy for what he was. Recognizing the echo of himself - the skill, the swagger, the arrogance, the taunts, the name. Seeing the threat that he posed but still finding the boy lacking.

Aemond backing down quickly with that little growl, frustrated but challenged - perhaps for the first time in a while. Aemond storming out, unable to stomach being dismissed so easily.

Daemon smirking as he left. Daemon laughing, making light of the situation, knowing that not being taken seriously would annoy Aemond more than anything else. Just like it would have annoyed him.

this episode showed that alicent knows exactly who aegon is and what kind of person he is and knows deep down in her soul that he is unfit to rule the realm but is still willing to go to war with house targaryen to put him on the throne after she heard what she wanted to hear from viserys and it effectively proves that despite her moments of kindness and humility that she still chose power in the end over everything else including her own family’s safety and what was best for the realm…..and this decision unfortunately seals her fate and the tragedy that will come to her children and grandchildren

something abt jace's whispered little "excuse me" into baela's ear before asking helaena to dance.

like, he's absolutely extending his hand to his cousin bc helaena very publicly admitted to being neglected by her husband and jace probably remembers how sweet she's always been. yeah, of course he can do this for helaena, she deserves to feel paid attention to and she deserves to smile and laugh. and absolutely yes, jace having the compassion to do that and the awareness that both sides of the family are watching/attempting to mend their broken bonds!! jace having the mind to capitalize on that fact and cement the fostering of those good relations!! these are the merits of a good future king, very possibly a great one

but also jace having the care and courtesy to tell baela first, even tho he didn't have to, and jace bearing aegon's insults to him but breaking when aegon disrespects baela by propositioning her and jace's "mind your tongue before my betrothed" and his nod at baela during the throne room scene after their engagement was announced and baela's proud answering smile. the trust she has in him!! the confidence he inspires from her!! these are the merits of a good husband :')

Viserys angrily dismissing the kingsguard. Viserys recognizing Dark Sister and stopping mid-protest. Viserys allowing Daemon to help him up the stairs and onto his throne. Daemon's quiet "Come on". Daemon crowning Viserys as he will one day crown Rhaenyra.

Viserys watching his brother as he was crowned, accepting Daemon's presence where he had pushed away everyone else.

Daemon being unable to look at Viserys, or address his condition when he first meets him. Viserys recognizing Daemon's name immediately, repeating it and demanding to be helped up.

Daemon snarling at Alicent, furious at how his brother's condition had been taken advantage of.

Daemon trusting in his brother's ability to step in and resolve the matter of the inheritance - pushing for Viserys to act with the unwavering faith of a younger sibling.

Viserys watching Rhaenyra and Daemon laughing together at the dinner, happy and in love. Daemon's eyes following Viserys, grieving his brother, loving him regardless.

They're brothers. They love each other so much.

Corlys and Rhaenys were back to back.

When Alicent comes at Luke and ends with Rhaenyra, if you look back and focus solely on Corlys and Rhaenys. Rhaenys has her back turned away from the fighting. She facing her grandchildren and putting herself between them and the danger - putting herself in a very vulnerable position.

But then Corlys is between Rhaenys and the danger. Corlys is protecting Rhaenys.

 Corlys is protection Rhaenys whose protecting all four of their grandchildren.

I know Corlys likely has a weapon. He’s even got his own guards I think. But Rhaenys doesn’t.

I just wanted to point this out.

I swear some of y’all lack media literacy. Yes Daemon was less intense because he’s quite literally lost his fire. He lost his spot as heir. His brother continually treated him like crap, his one hope to contribute to his house was through a marriage to Rheanyra but he lost that too. In episode 6 even Laena comments about how Daemon has lost his way. He is aimless. He lacks purpose and he doesn’t think he will ever get it back. He has zero want to be back in the game as we see Viserys offer him a spot at court which Daemon turns down.

When Rheanyra & Daemon are walking on the beach the first real spark you see from Daemon is when she is talking about how miserable she’s been and insinuates that his life has been so much better. It hasn’t. You can see his vulnerability as Rheanyra is handing him everything he wanted all those years ago. The sex scene is tender and careful because this is a choice they are making together. They are choosing each other after years of being unable to do that. It’s not fueled by lust but something deeper.

After the confrontation when Rheanyra proposes the idea of marriage Daemon is surprised. He’s even more surprised that she’s willing to commit crimes to make it happen. The interesting thing she is offering him a place in her court as Prince Consort much like Viserys. The difference is Rheanyra is saying she needs him. In that moment he sees he can actually contribute something. He can help her strengthen her claim and become a stronger Queen. And just like Daemon is reborn. We see the old menace return as he plots & murders. Then when we see him at the wedding he has a new life in him. Gone is the aimless shell he was at the beginning of the episode.

I love that Rhaenyra and Daemon's wedding shows us a little peak into Old Valyria. These outfits are unlike anything seen thus far. They're simple but beautiful and they feel so, so old. This was more than a wedding. It was primal Old Valyrian blood magic to bind them together, dragon to dragon.
