the human body is an engineering marvel. I sneeze in bright light. if I dont get enough sunlight on my skin I get tired and sad and have to drink a lot of milk to fix it. standing too much hurts, but sitting too much also hurts. if I get a virus, my body will increase its temperature in an attempt to cook it, which also cooks my brain cells. toenails exist. I have to turn the radio down to see better when I drive. there are 17 genes dictating what my hair texture is, but it completely changes when the air is too humid. yawning is contagious. there are more species of bacteria living in my body than there are species of birds in the entire world. every few months I grievously injure my neck by "sleeping on it weird." it took seven million years of human evolution to form me, and now I'm afraid of phone calls.

can you imagine how freaky shark mermaids would be like unlike sharks, shark mermaids would have actual arms/hands and could rely on touching things with their hands to see if they’re prey rather than having to bite like sharks do. like youre just swimming in the ocean and suddenly you feel a strong grip on your leg, you freak the FUCK out because uh what????? the fuck??? youre swimming alone in the ocean??

a head pops out of the water, dorsal fin pointed from its back and it just points at you and says in a low whisper: “i thought you were a seal. please dont swim alone like this, im sorry i scared you i just wanted to see what you are” and then disappears back into the depth. what the fuck.

When I was a little girl, there was this temporary pond where I grew up. Every few years it would rain enough that it would stay full with water long enough for tadpoles to hatch. But it would always dry up before they could become frogs. So one year my mom helped me set up a 50gal water trough to put the tadpoles in. Filled it with water and set up rocks for them to be able to crawl out once they grew legs. I took a broken broom handle and a measuring cup and duct taped them together. I then proceeded to catch as many tadpoles as I possibly could and walk them the 1/4 mile back to my house. I filled that trough with as many tadpoles as I could and made sure to bring some dirt and plants from the temporary pond. I loved watching them grow into frogs. They didn’t all make it, but none of them would have survived if they’d stayed in that tiny, drying pond. When my mom tells me they’ve had a rainy summer, I still worry about who will help the tadpoles.

How do you preserve the food from your garden so it doesn't go bad before you can eat it?

You are wildly underestimating my ability to go fucking feral about fresh produce. I don't think I even brought snap peas into the house last year. Just ate them right off the vine.

Though I did end up freezing the strawberries/blue berries as they ripened, but even those were consumed within the week.

The only tough one was the potatoes, but that was resolved by just foisting potatoes on everyone I knew. Much more welcome than Zucchinis.
