Slow, but I see it

Patience has never been my strong suit.

But I can't snap my fingers and make her gain 100 lbs overnight or rush anything that I had originally planned to work on as soon as she was brought home. She needs time to get to the best she can be and I have to step back and let that happen.

Lightning: Everyone calls you Jess.

Doc: Yes. That's my name.

Lightning: This is to Jesse.

Doc: It's been that way my whole life.

So no surgery. Just lots of rest, meds and then supplements for likely the rest of her life. I am so emotionally worn out right now.

Having a vet tell you one day 'it might be broken' is not how to leave me hanging for 12+ hours.

Almost a year out from losing my dog, I get to find out if the horse I've owned for 3 weeks will need extensive surgery.

The weather hasn't been cooperating much so haven't had a chance to even start with light ground work. Did some flexing tonight and she's great on one side, stiff as a board on the other.

I spent all this time worrying over names and ultimately decided on Mocha.

Echo was a close 2nd, and everyone said it was like she was an echo of my previous horse, which was a neat prospect but she deserves to have her own identity. I can't focus on her if I'm always comparing her to him.

I want her to fill out a little more, get to know me better and hopefully we can become a great team.

I love my Mocha Latte.
