Killian heads down to Spring Training - without Emma - and he is really not pleased about it.

Watching from the Bench

He sits slumped on the couch in the family room as Emma moves around him, no more than a blur of blonde as she darts back and forth from the kitchen, to the bedroom, to the exercise room and back again. He knows he’s pouting - knows he’s being a god damned adolescent as she is so very fond of pointing out - but still.

She stops in front of him, knocking his feet off the duffle he is using as a ottoman and unzipping with a jerk, stuffing his laptop charger inside with an arch of her eyebrow. “You said you had everything ready to go.”

He grins at her, tugging on her hand until she has no choice but to fall forward into his lap. She huffs and puffs, but he sees the smile curling at the corner of her lips. “Everything but the laptop charger, then.”

She sighs and thumbs at his eyebrow, the line of his jaw. The fading sunlight catches on the ring on her finger and he smiles wider, pulling her hand away from his face and pressing a kiss to her knuckles, thumb running back and forth over the simple braided ring that was once his brothers but now is hers - the ring that tells the whole world that he is hers forever.

“You have to take care of yourself this week.” She shifts until her thighs are on either side of his hips and he decides he likes this arrangement better than her anxious twirling about the apartment. His arm wraps low around her waist and he rests his forehead between her breasts. “I need you in one piece when I get down there.”
