hi sorry this is probably a stupid question but are the clans like. idk saves. info thing stored in the folder clangen is in or will you have to make a different clan each time? like, i have clangen in my onedrive folder to carry it over and i wanna make sure i wont lose my clans if/when i change my device, if that makes sense

They have their own save location, separate from the game itself. You can find them by opening the data directory, found in the game's settings!

HEYA i just had a gameplay mechanic question! in the past i have 'save scummed'/saved before each new moon/timeskip, so that way if my fave cat died i could simply reload and try again until i got an outcome i was happy w/ since im also currently writing about and developing these ocs! i havent played in about a month and was wondering if you patched this? i had been what i thought was reloading but was actually just timeskipping as the savescum no longer works and it saves regardless :(

little followup to the savescum question ive tested it out what is happening is that if i save before a new moon, timeskip, go main menu without saving and reload it DOES save and counts that as progressing. i did this with a new clan and went from moon 1-3. BUT if i do that then switch clans and reload it resets back to moon 1. is this a bug??? i rlly rely on this savescumming mechanic and how it is currently makes me uneasy if this is right :(

You need to fully close the game! It's been this way for some time now :]

what's the deadliest type of patrol?

Border patrols! They have the highest amount of hostile encounters, such as finding foxes or angry rogues. Training, on the other paw, is the safest!

I believe, from most to least dangerous, it goes border -> hunting -> herb gathering -> training :]

Is it possible to have no other clans? Either through save editing or just luck

Unfortunately the game needs at least one other Clan to function, or else it will crash when skipping moons or patrolling!

So I noticed that one of the new border patrols involves finding an elderly kittypet with carrionplace disease. Both times, the leaders of my patrol mention a specific story about Tigger. Now I know Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, but I'm not sure what this is specifically a reference too? I haven't named or encountered a cat named Tigger, so I'm not sure what signifigance the name has. Just curious, thanks for all of your work on this amazing game!

It references a real cat owned by a fan of the game! He ate something he shouldn't have, and got incredibly sick, which is what Carrionplace disease is; eating a rat that carries disease, and getting incredibly sick.

While out on a patrol my cats stumbled upon a "distorted red foxish creature" and I just can't find anything about it anywhere!

I've never seen this before in my like hundreds of clans, may I ask what it was? Did they find a ghost mayhaps? 0-o

A maned wolf! It's the cryptid of the plains biome :)

just tried the game for the first time :3 have a cat named antsong who: mother died seconds after giving birth to him, father died not long after, grows up only with his sister, his sister dies when they both become warriors, antsong is the only surviving member of his family and gets a broken infected leg, gets a mate while recovering, barely survives, and his mate just died without them having kits. i am weeping uncontrollably. 10/10 game

Oh no!!!!! Starclan's not been kind to him, he's been protagonist-ed! :(

I hope he gets a better life after this!

I recently started a new clan and the leader Lilystar lost eight of his lives instantly from trying to get an egg. Is it possible for leaders to lose all their lives in patrol events?

Yep, they're very rare but Leaders can lose all of their lives in a patrol, I believe there's a beach patrol where the cat gets swept down the river from a spontaneous flood that can remove all of a Leader's lives as well

Uh Oh!

It's come to our attention that anti-virus programs, most recently and commonly Windows Defender, have been quarantining files from the game for a lot of players, including the .exe file. This is likely because of changes within those programs and something we have no control over and can't stop from happening, unfortunately 😭 Instead we're going to tell you how you can get past this yourself if you are encountering this issue while using Windows Defender. Do note that this may not work for 3rd-party anti-virus programs. This is also a reminder to be kind to our tech-helpers while asking for technical help in our Discord!

Open Settings on your device and navigate to the tab called "Privacy and security".

Go to "Virus & threat protection"

Look for and go to "Protection History" under the Quick Scan button.

You should see Clangen listed here, under "Affected items" or "Threat quarantined". It should say the location of your Clangen game folder and the file that disappeared (Don't act on it if you see a file that isn't inside your Clangen game folder). Click on the "Actions" button menu and choose "Restore".

Go back to "Virus and threat protection" screen and from there, to "Manage settings".

Under "Exclusions", go to "Add or remove exclusions"

Choose from the "+ Add an Exclusion" dropdown to exclude a "Folder".

Choose the game folder that your Clangen game resides in. Finished! You should in most cases be able to play the game again. This is not the first time anti-virus programs have falsely flagged the game as a threat, but we assure you, it is not one. Thank you for your patience and we hope you have the best time playing Clangen!! 😸

I haven’t been able to play the new update yet so I just wanted to know what “weights and mates” meant?

Weights and mates refers to 2 different things!

'Mates' is that there's expanded mate events added.

'Weights' is a system added to Patrols that controls the most common outcomes. Basically adds a value to the patrol that's used in determining how common a patrol is within a list!

I think I found a Love Triangle, So I saw that SwallowStripe was rejected by Flintdawn, So I checkes their Relationships And to my Surprise I saw SwallowStripe Likes Flintdawn But Flintdawn Likes frostice but frostice Likes SwallowStripe, I created many saves and yet this is my first love triangle in this whole game
