have literally said this before

but my brain is constantly agog about the marineford arc and how narrow-minded and shortsighted the navy is

the navy knows luffy's motivation. he's running around impel down/marineford trying to save his brother. he's motivated by love and junk. sure it may be annoying, but they can't say it's not sweet. they can't say they wouldn't do the same for their family

so maybe at first, they could be like "yeah, they're both pirates, let's stop this"

but then i feel like as soon as blackbeard shows up revealing that his master plan was to trick the government into adding him as a warlord so he could get access to level 6 and add the strongest criminals to his crew, the navy should have significantly shifted their focus from luffy to blackbeard

like "this bby pirate may be trying to free his pirate brother because nobody wants their family to die, but this other pirate's currently plugging up whitebeard's butthole for the tremor-tremor power and also spent months tricking us in order to become more evil and take over the world; maybe we should fight him instead"

and even throughout the rest of the series, not a single person in the navy ever says "huh, making blackbeard a warlord might have been a mistake"

instead, it's "luffy destroyed the world's peace. luffy was the evil mastermind behind the war. he was the one who ruined our lives by showing up to save ace. (even though whitebeard showed up to the war first.) (even though blackbeard was already planning to infiltrate impel down that same day)"

nobody in this show knows how to think critically

a thought about Big Mom just occurred to me

in her seven decades of life, did she never wonder how she got Mother Carmel's power?

sure, she's wondered where Carmel disappeared to, but has she never asked the question of where her own power came from?

by now, she has to have realized that all her soul manipulation powers come from a devil fruit, right? she knows that she didn't come by these powers "naturally" or "divinely" or anything like that

and being a pirate in the New World, she knows how devil fruits work. she knows that only one person in the world can possess that power at any given time

and she understands that her power is the same as Carmel's because she started creating (what she now realizes are) Homies, just like Carmel used to when she performed her "magic tricks" for the kids

also, in her 70 years of life, she has to have become familiar with her behavior of becoming an uncontrollable nightmare that consumes literally anything in its path when "the hunger" strikes

so like...at this point, neither the devil fruit info nor her eating disorder should come as news to Big Mom

so if Big Mom has any semblance of even a single semi-functioning brain cell, she has to have put these facts together at least once in her life and thought "huh, how odd that i received this singular devil fruit power on the day that Mother Carmel and all my friends disappeared without a trace while i was deliriously eating semla, similar to how i recklessly destroy things and kill my family when i have a hunger pang"

right?
